How is it bad thing to say that someone who dies goes to same state as before he was born?
...okay? This has nothing to do with what… more we were talking about. We weren't discussing that at all. We were discussing whether it is right or wrong to console a grieving individual by telling them their lost loved one is in heaven. Nothing else.
It is. You are trying way too hard here to make shoving your religious beliefs down peoples throats not look so bad. How is it actually comforting to tell others that their loved ones exist for eternity? No one should have to suffer like that and you say its a condolence.
You completely ignored my explanation and instead just repeated your stance on the topic without actually doing anything to refute or really even address what I said. This is why conversations with you go absolutely nowhere. There is really no point in even debating.

Atheism doesn't "invalidate itself" If the monkey was smart and if the plane worked then yes I'd fly it. The processes that led to now are mindless, yes, but "not" unguided. We're pretty good at being alive here in this tiny little pocket of the universe because many "many" things that were before us "weren't" so good at being alive here. Fascinating things happen when you have things reproducing over and over again over long periods of time.
It's the rational rejection of stories about a magical super being in the sky, talking snakes, unicorns, dragons, and other such nonsense.
Your God has always been and always will be a "God of the Gaps." It's a way to pretend you understand how the universe works without any work. Since humans "like" to know how things work it's appealing to latch on to stories like Santa Clause, and God; both of which there is equal evidence for.
The problem with Atheism is the very theory invalidates itself. It's similar to something called Darwin's dilemma... Atheism will tell you… more that your brain is made of atoms, and that it was created through a mindless, unguided process. If that is true how can you believe anything it tells you including that it is made of atoms? Would you fly on an air plane that's computers were programmed by monkey's? Of course you wouldn't.
You seem to not know the difference between fact and absolute fact, or you just fail to understand the definition of word "fact", which is right there.
A fact = Mount Everest is the tallest mountain.
A fact = If any other mountain ever gets taller than Mount Everest, its no longer a fact that Mount Everest is the tallest mountain.
Absolute "fact" = Mount Everest will always be the tallest mountain.
Nothing has changed? All knowledge we currently have shows that human mind of produced by brains and once they dont stop functioning, you cease to exist. =/= Heaven and hell do not exist.
You don't have to sugar coat the truth. My objection isn't regarding that.
My objection is to your ridiculing somebody for choosing to mourn the loss of a loved one in a harmless way.
We both agree that silly stories completely made up out of thin air are nonsense, and it's good to express as much, but going to funerals is not something to ridicule somebody over.
Athiesm and thiesm are true, but none of them are right. Nobody has to have a God to judge what is right and wrong, the important thing is that everybody needs to know what is right and what is wrong. So, yeah, the topic in this thread is about "Real Life Choices", not opinions. Thank you.
His eyes aren't shut. He's just not making up random things to explain things that don't have an immediate explanation. Sometimes the most rational thing to do is to admit that you don't know how something happened or happens. Taking that stance leaves room for inquiry. Just making up woo nonsense to explain something doesn't lead you any closer to the truth.
Even if i told you you wouldn't believe me anyways. Its something you will have to discover on your own, if your eyes are shut how will you see anything?
I'm probably wasting my time. Doesn't help that almost everything said to him ends up getting ignored. I generally don't like these kinds of illogical opinions to go unchallenged, though.
I believe George was simply trying to say that American Christianity (in general) isn't necessarily all that harmful... especially in comparison to the actual extreme/dangerous religions in the world.
He cherry picks what he finds most relevant aka what he can twist to support his stance. Which doesn't actually prove the validity of his stance, but prove he doesn't know how to conduct himself in a debate.

The Bible also predicted that Babylon would never be reoccupied after its fall in the late 600'sBCE. This is demonstrably false as Alexander the Great took the city and occupied it in 330 BCE.
It was actually predicted in the Bible that Christians will be turned on by the world once again in Modern times.
Mathew 24:9-14 "Then sh… moreall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
There is evidence. Is there science that proves it? Not at this point but what about witness testimony? There are cardiac surgeon's who h… moreave had patience dead on the operating table who were able to explain what was happening to them while dead. They tell the doctor details of the surgery they shouldn't have been able to know. You can find doctors interviewed on youtube if you like.
The way you worded it sounded like you were ridiculing him, implying that he "shouldn't" have gone.
"I'm curious as to why you decided to go. I don't personally go to funerals as I don't see much of a point."

All references to Babylon in the New Testament are symbolic, which means the name Babylon is being used figuratively. In the Bible, Rome is designated as Babylon, because Rome was regarded by both Jews and Christians as being an oppressive force to the kingdom of God, and its downfall was confidently expected, This conception is in accord with the predicted downfall of Babylon (Revelation 14:8; Revelation 18:2, 10-21). As Babylon had been the of Babylon was the oppressor of Israel, so it was designated Babylon, because this power was oppressing the people of God.
edit: Now excluding that interpretation, this also explains the prediction. When it is said that Babylon will never again be occupied, what it means is it should never be inhabited again because it is no longer a Godly place/holy land due to it's crimes against the Lord, it is no longer a place where a child of God can live, unless it is in sin.
Jeremiah 50:13- "Because of the LORD’s anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. All who pass Babylon will be horrified and scoff because of all her wounds."
Jeremiah 51:37-"Babylon will be a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, an object of horror and scorn, a place where no one lives."
It makes a lot of predictions

Hardapplecider the problem with your statement is you don't understand the universe, or what is required for it to work. Here is an example… more. You look at your smart phone screen. What do you see? Little buttons to push, and pictures. You don't see all the tiny parts, and all the thousands and thousands of code used to make the phone work. Now think about that for a minute. The universe is a lot like the code, and tiny parts you don't think about. You see so much of the universe as a waste. Also don't you think life would be boring without the wonder of what's out there? Don't you find it even remotely interesting to think of humans exploring the universe? I believe our creator made something so impressive as to create wonder in us. Also I don't believe we are alone. I believe there are countless worlds filled with life.

You've only got one life to live, Zykelator. Being nice to others as a default stance (unless they give you a reason to not be nice) will improve your quality of life, just sayin.
PC+Nintendo Console has given the broadest game selection for the past few generations of consoles. It is a good idea to nab a PS or XBox later into their life cycles though.
I live in middle of nowhere and barely see anyone. Im not used to being nice for no reason, its just not who i am. Im only nice to certain people and that list is small.

In the past my girlfriend at the time brought home a little kitten out of nowhere. She said that we didn't "have" to keep him because she could bring him back, but that she loved him and wanted to show him to me. I was faced with

My heart melted both seeing the kitten and also seeing her adore it. I jammed X so fast, the timer barely even came up.
In proper Telltale fashion, the kitty (who we named "Kale") got hit by a car about a year later Was so heartbroken. He was such a good kitty.

The theory of evolution (survival of the fittest) is in the process of being debunked. Even expert Atheists are reaching the conclusion that evolution as it stand is almost certainly wrong. They don't admit God is involved but the current theory is very flawed.

Well I kind off assumed it was a joke, but if you want to elaborate I don't mind hearing it.
When someone responded I was going to say Black Friday is a bitch....Guess no body cared enough to ask.

There is no Black Friday in México so I don't know how that's like, sounds awful though, like that Dawn of the Dead movie actually.
Joseph Kony wouldn't have come into power without American Christianity. Woo is usually harmless, however it can be really dangerous.
It is exactly like that...I go sometimes for the good deals but only late in the day to avoid the crazy people.

I was simply curious why he would go there and he explained his reasoning behind that.
I'm pretty sure that movie was an analogy for something like that, in any case I wouldn't go they might eat me.
You wouldn't be eaten....Probably just bit, ran over, or trampled.

I'm pretty thin, so I don't think I would do too well, I'd be easily trampled.
There's witness testimony for bigfoot, alien abductions, and government abductions and relocation to a secret mars base.
All those true?

Whats the point of your message?
Well im not trying to be nice to others so thats that.

Life would be more interesting if we could go out into space ourselves without having to worry about exploding internally. Just sayin

The best way to be right about predictions is to claim "Oh I didn't mean that LITERALLY" when your predictions are demonstrably wrong.....
Are you serious, what is wrong with you?
Whats is wrong with me?
That's not a hard decision, ps3 easily, wii sucks. Who even plays wii?

Shit like that's happened, killed a few....This conversation is getting dark. XD
It is merely an interpretation. And I added more to my prior comment. Also, there's no need to be condescending.
