About Doug

Anyone else feel bad that only like 15% saved him. I replayed ep 2-3 with Doug and I really liked him. I feel like ep 1 didnt give him that much development and he just the guy who was like. "I am Door Man."

  • Only 15%? RIP Doug.

  • Whats the suprise here? Carley got bewbs Doug doesnt... (unless we're talking about moobs)

  • Doug was wasted potential. It seemed like Telltale just shoved down our throats

'You chose the nerd over the hawtie? You dumb?? lol you'll be sorry when you find out we decided to give him no characterisation and always make you feel your choice was wrong ;P'

I remember two things he said and repeated a lot: "Hey you wanna go outside take a look around" and "Hey man! What are you doing! We can go out there unless the keys are out there!"

I remember messing with him and the door. Using the remote on the lock "Open Sesame."

Unfortunately for him, Doug was not saved in most playthroughs because: Why would you save Doug, the nerdy guy, over Carley, the hot reporter with the gun? Carley had the whole battery gag going on, could handle a gun very well, goes to save Glenn with Lee, and the fact that you could have Lee trust her definitely adds on the appeal of saving Carley over Doug.

  • I saved Doug in my first playthrough. Never regretted a thing.

  • The ONLY reason I wanted to save Carley, was the gun. Nevermind the fact she was a cute woman, that makes no difference. I would have preferred if Doug had the gun and could use it as well as Carley. A good shot plus brains if far better than a good shot with boob's that can't even put batteries in a radio.

  • Who doesn't like a nice pair of man boobs?

    No

Men play more video games than women. So its not a stretch to see the hot reporter get saved over the Fat IT guy.

  • Welcome to the 15%

If he had "no characterization" than neither did Carley. Carley's role was to bring Lee's past into the story, to be a counter to Larry's (and other possible characters) more cynical viewpoint of Lee, and to be a good friend and possible love interest. She filled the role well, but it only took up like, two scenes of unique development with Lee that really had her character shine through. The rest was her fulfilling the exact same role that Doug did with saving the group from the St. Johns. She also never really changes to the events around her, but that's because she really doesn't have to. Her proficiency with guns makes her invaluable and a survivor.

It's actually a lot easier for me to point out how they characterized Doug since it doesn't feel nearly as tied to Lee as Carley did. He's the tech-savvy funny guy of the group who is also an unlikely hero, set up by the first episode and then paid off when he saves the group through unexpected means in episode 2. Then things start to get worse, and you see a visible change in him when he realizes his skills aren't much use to the group and he feels useless, but when the time comes, he steps and starts to be more of an assertive hero. He raises a gun and kills a bandit, runs out of safety in the middle of the battle to fix the RV, finally makes his voice heard in group discussions to protect Ben, and dies saving him.

All in all, for a nerdy guy in the zombie apocalypse, I'd say he got some damn good treatment. It's not like he was Sarah, or Carlos, or Sarita, or almost every damn character in season 2 in terms of failed potential. -_-

  • I saved Carley first ever time because of her sharp shooting

  • I saved Doug the first time and didn't really regret it, I liked him well enough.

I saved Carley the second time and preferred her and Lee's relationship more, even if it wasn't really a full on romance. She felt more invested in the story and her exchange with Lily in the end was much mroe dramatic.

Saved Doug on my first playthrough, it was all right, I liked him quite a bit and the only regret I had was that the reason for saving him might have been that I wanted my secret to die with Carley, other than that I was perfectly fine with my choice, surprisingly after the first episode I was practically a saint.

However in all of my other playthroughs I chose Carley, mainly because I really liked that being able to tell the others about your past thing.

  • Doug was way better than carley

  • Although Carley is clearly the better choice for a zombie apocalypse survivor, I liked Doug's character way more than Carley's. The really interesting part about Doug is that he knows he was the wrong choice. This gives him some internal conflict that he has to deal with, unlike Carley who's just there to be Lee's confidante and pillar of stability.

The first thing Doug tells you after you save him is that he wishes you would have saved Carley instead. After that, he spends his time trying to help Lee as best he can, but there's not much his intellect and technical skills can do when there's no technology to work with. So when you talk to him in Episode 3, he sounds really depressed about how useless he feels. Lee can even ask Clem if Doug seems sad to her.

  • I feel Glenn should not have existed and Doug had played Glenn's role in the motor inn, with the sparkplug etc.

Yeah I know... But its the truth.

  • Look through this thread. There are plenty of people that care about him.

A lot of people betrayed Kenny. I believe it wasn't fair though, If Jane had the upper hand more people would of shot her in that split decision. Myself i was never going to let Jane kill Kenny. When Kenny had the knife to her chest, i remembered Jane's words. She told Clementine to "stay out" of it, so i did. I watched as the knife went in her chest. I felt bad, but there was no wayi was picking Jane over Kenny. Then all of a sudden the baby starts crying and you know she can't be trusted. It was all a big lie. At that moment i didn't care about Jane at all. Why didn't TTG give me the option to shoot her when the lie was discovered.

I don't know about that. How many % of people didn't betray Ken?

  • People who saved Doug, I tip my hat off to you. Doug was the shit. Maybe not the baddest of asses but he was still a lovable and funny guy and went out like a hero. Also, smart mother fucker.

"I miss my robots" - Doug.

We will miss you Doug, may you find biscuits and robots in heaven.

  • Yeah it wasn't fair for Ken because most of the people saw him as "the bad guy" in that scene because he had the upper hand but it was Jane who started all of it. It just isn't fair.

  • I only played the season once, and my ending was the one where Kenny/Clem/Aj are walking out together. I don't expect Kenny's continuation in the story, and that is depressing.

  • I saved Doug because Carley knew Lee's secret of him being a convicted murderer. I didn't give him much thought throughout the season, but I actually thought he was pretty cool... up to the point where he died saving Ben.

But in my second playthrough, I saved Carley and I saw how much more developed her character became. Doug was wasted potential on TT's part really.

  • Doug never had a fair shake. Its like that time where Kenny was winning in the fight, and everyone felt like they had to save "innocent" Jane.

My ending is the same. Don't give up hope yet maybe Kenny will get a continuation in the story.
