Do you want the game to follow the comic indefinitely?

Here is why I ask. When you watch a movie, or read a novel you are taking part in someone else's story. You except that while taking part that you are powerless, and that's part of the fun. Hoping things will happen and rejoice when they do. Fear things will happen, and either feel bad when they do or are surprised, and happy when they don't.

Games in my opinion are different. It's true because of the limits in technology you are limited in choices but you aren't just a bystander like in a story. You are actively taking part in something with the desire to help alter things within the world you are in. Now the Walking Dead world (or any world with anarchy) has almost unlimited stories that can unravel.

My problem with the game (as I have posted before) is that even though you are playing it feels very much like a movie. Deaths happen but they don't have to happen. I understand that by the end of the game they need the same people to always be there because of the following expansion. That's fine. Mine problem is that they are in my opinion being lazy. They always kill off people you have the option of saving. They have shown that they are willing to have characters abandon the group, but none of them are the people you save. They might argue they want to grab your emotions. That works early on. By this point all it does is ruin the game. It's old, and predictable. "Save John"? Why? he's dead later. If they actually allowed some people to live that you save it will really make decisions feel important. At this point they don't.

Now there are some who will say "Stick with the comic". Think about this for a second. If Rick Grimes gets killed off. Will you continue to play this game knowing that if they do stick with the comics then Clementine's days will be numbered. Will you continue to play knowing she's going to die?

  • 1st off, yes i want the game and show to follow the comic, 2nd off, there is no comic about the game, so how do you think:

if they do stick with the comics then Clementine's days will be numbered

clementine isn't dead yet, and there is no comic about the game, 3rd of all, Rick, ALSO isn't dead in the comic, so how would they kill off rick when they are following the comic, when rick isn't dead?

  • the game does follow the comic 100% but not in the way you are thinking if i read this right the whole way of telltale handling deaths is not taken from the comic

they can change the way they handle deaths and still be canon to the comic

  • Uhhh...... The T.V. show is based off of the comics. The game is based off of the comics. IF the writers of the comics decide to end the main character then telltale might also be willing to do the same to stay in lock step.

  • The deaths are taken from the comic in spirit. The comic kills almost everyone off. Would you deny that almost everyone Clem has been with is dead?

  • He could kill off Rick in the next comic, and have his son step up in his place. haha Maybe EJ will replace Clem. I bet the fans here would love that ;)

you have to remember the comic is 2 years ahead of the game and robert kirkman has no intention of ending twd anytime soon the game series will be done before the comic series is even done

have you read the comics or just heard about them? cause unlike the game there are people who have been there from the start (andrea, carl, maggie, sophia) they don't kill everyone off at all they do kill characters from time to time but not like telltale who has killed off every original character or has made them go missing

  • The TV show isn't really based off the comics, it's more just following it very loosely. It's not in the same universe.
