Why Luke is dead and why you all should accept it

Lets imagine Luke got out somehow from zombies clutches and somehow did have enough ait to get to the frozen lake surfice and find another hole in ice and get himself out.

Pretty incredible if you ask me, but let imagine that.

What he would do then? Beside that unfinished building where rest of the crew hang out there is no other building for miles and miles. And he is all wet and about to be frozen to death. Where he would light fire (all by himself again, not like Clem who had help from others) and where he would stay until he recovers?

If he wasnt in middle of complete wildeness someone could stumble upon him, let say driving a car and transfer him let say to some warm and not so far away location near of it. But that would require nearly frozen Luke not just to stay near whole in the ice where he got out but walk further away. And not to go toward the house with smoke rising from chimney, where he could imagine that rest of his gang is and they just light warm fire where he could save his life. But no, he should go another way, towards the road and more then certain death for no apparent reason at all because he didnt have blood feud with anyone from gang to avoid aproaching them and go to another direction.

Its much easier just to figure out he is dead and accept it guys. :P

  • I think most people do accept it, they're just joking around because they wish he hadn't died.

  • We know Luke is dead.

And we accepted it, like, when he drowned/got dragged down into a freezing lake.

Well, topics like "Did Luke even really die?" with like 5 pages of user comments makes me think otherwise.

Maybe all is big joke but joke taking like 3 months on various topics is more then a joke I think.

I wander if some fans WD games are really enough emotionally mature when they need to drag this dead subject all over and over again from time to time.

I know Luke's probably dead for good...I'd just, rather hope that he's not that's all! XD It's like Sprocket said, I wish he hadn't died. For me the deah was just bad and put me off the last stretch of the game. Actually XD I bet if Kenny had fallen in, a lot of people would be saying 'oh he'll be okay, the boats will save him. Water is Kenny's element!' it's natural to hope your favorite character will make it out of the near impossible. Kenny managed it in Season 1 despite the odds being more in his favor than Luke's.

But I am realistic about it, and the only hope in hell Luke would have of surviving is if another survivor or survivors out there found him in time for CPR to work. Then there's the fact of getting him out the ice in the first place, and building a fire...but actually being people that would be willing to care enough to go help another human being like that.

Other than that, there's no way Luke can make it out of that by himself. The cold would buy him a little time, but that's it. He's an icecube T_T

  • because it's too early to kill off a character who slowly grows so suddenly..

  • Anyone who says he's still alive is probably joking or not thinking straight. With some characters we never see them die so we don't know they're dead, but with Luke we see it in our own eyes (for some) and he's dragged to the bottom of a lake, how the hell is he gonna get out of that? And even if by some miracle he does, how would he survive long after that? He can't, that's how.

  • That lake was secretly a magic lake.

He WILL become a beautiful mermaid. (Merman)

Luke will then grow angel wings and fly to Clementines location using the tracking device he put on her when they hugged in the comic store.

I shall now put this idea forward to Telltale. Even Scott Porter has become part of the campaign 'Luke Lives' -

For only £10.99 a week you can help angel mermaids like Luke recover from their trauma. Please save the Lukes

  • I'm sure most people accept it, we just joke about it. Even though I have come up with a few ways Luke could get out, they are all nearly impossible. I wish he could be alive, but he isn't. I think a lot of people are still in denial and just because it's nearly been 3 months for us, doesn't mean it's been 3 months for everyone.

  • Hey! That's my CHAIR! What the hell has he done to it!?

Darn you Scott! I knew you took it! >.<

Let's say hypothetically Luke was able to escape the lake, Clem and Jane/Kenny have left the structure, if Luke had the ability to start a fire, perhaps using the stuffing from a car's seat as fuel, out of the wind, it's possible. Maybe scavenge any sort of supplies but then he would be on his own. He would find Kenny or Jane's body, and maybe even track footprint's to catch up with them providing the snow hasent covered them.

He would have to get real lucky!

Edit to add: I believe Luke is absolutely dead and this is just hypothetical.

  • Him surviving would hinge on someone rescuing him. People who have drowned in ice water have survived as long as 30 minutes submerged. It's possible but it's unlikely. From a story stand point it's not realistic, and from a Walking Dead stand point people die... a lot...

  • Why Luke is dead and why you all should accept it

    I stopped there.

  • It is really stupid if people really think he's still alive. It was fucking clear he died. One person that could, however, be alive is Christa.

  • Luke is dead

WTF THANKS FOR RUINING THE Game for me!

No, its not hypothetical, its impossible. Even if he survived the lake he would dying from hypertermia and its really matter of minutes not hours. He cannot stay somewhere all wet for hours just to wait all leave the structure and then make fire. He would be dead for hours by that time.

Remember Clem situation when she fell to frozen lake: she was carried to the structure and being not capable to do anything in that state others made fire for her. That saved her life. If she was left outside for hours she would be hours old zombie. Simple as that.

  • I know he's dead I just like to make belief he isn't, it's a way of coping haha :P

  • You are right in that he could not survive for hours in that kind of cold but I don't think we're talking about hour's, it would have been only minutes since he fell under the ice, Assuming he can hold his breath for even 1-2 minutes, found a hole or weak part of the ice to get out and crawl to a car, out of the wind and somehow was able to start a fire.

Again, this is absolutly assuming he got real lucky in getting out of the water, finding matches etc. Hypothetical doesnt mean possible, it mean's hypothetical. Just like zombies. Everyone one know's it is impossible for zombies to exist, but we can say hypothetically if they did.

No, its not hypothetical, its impossible. Even if he survived the lake he would dying from hypertermia and its really matter of minutes not

  • It needs super-human strenght and super-human abilities to do all that: first, to be able to hold breath that long (despite the fact we all witnessed that he couldnt hold breath and coudn't fight zombies who just dragged him down. everything looked beyond any hope, then fight zombies in his condition with wounded leg, getting frozed and losing air. Then, he will need to remove all his wet clothes because there is no way he could manage to swim back to the surfice with all that pressure in high water depts. That would also require some additional time and make him sink even further. Lots of additional air needed. And lots of time for his body to get too close to state of hypertermia. And hypertermia would make all his functions to perform even slower. So, he will swim back even slower. More air needed and more time for hypertermia.

I think even getting back to water surfice would be pure science fiction for him, let alone finding or making another hole in ice himself. Then, time to get out of water all by himself. Naked on ice. Crippled leg still.

Then, tasks to find shelter, wood, matches and new clothes. In reality he would be like 10 minutes death by that time but lets asume hypothetically he is alive and has enough body warm and strenght for all those little adventure games and enough luck to just find right stuff with little or almost no seaching. It would need amazing luck. Even for someone who supposed to die 10 minutes ago from hypertermia.

But, ok, its a game. I think Kenny had lot more space in his situation for his amazing luck. He just needed to outsmart bunch of slow zombies. Not really so much of a challenge. Not even in his wounded state. Not like he was dying or something. He was just slowed by his wound and had army of also slow zombies everywhere. We didnt really see if there were some manhole cover. He could just lift that and escape to sewers. And have enough luck/skills to outsmart zombies in sewers. He didnt really need to be super-human like Luke would.
