I think this was totally the writers idea, I mean like it is such a line to say with so much context at that time...why else would they include it? (for the Luke fan girls i guess to show appreciation through clem rofl,). Not to mention it was such a "feels" tie in with what happens after.

Luke and her were just friends, and I would like the whole idea of Clementine being in a relationship to be as far away from this game as possible. No need to create a possible relationship between Clem and someone when you will have some players (like myself) who don't want Clem to get involved in one. If you were to make it a determinant relationship (where your choices will determine if someone likes you or not), then that's fine, but don't force the player to be in a relationship when they don't want to have her in one.
