We actually don't see any part of the mansion from the outside except for this back entrance. None of us knows what the front or either side looks like.

No where it says what happens to Fivel's parents. Not in the game or on Walking dead wiki, it appears that they abandon him. They might have joined Crawford. To leave your kid a lone to join a group of survivors like that is horrible through. We know the parents leave Fivel when he was alive. If you look at the dog food in the kitchen, Lee will comment saying something along the lines of he wasn't hungry enough to eat dog food yet, this suggest that Fivel tried to eat the dog food to keep alive.
