I'm just pointing out that, why should you even do subscriptions, when you could theoretically get the same exact outcome with a price change instead?
Not only does this whole idea not make any sense, it's also completely unecessary
Maybe it's one of those ideas that sounds really good in your head, then you tell someone about it and they're like "what the hell are you talking about", then you realize it was actually a really bad idea, but you can't really do anything about it now, so you just sort of walk out of the room and never speak of it again.

I agree George, generally when a company knows they will make money, they milk it out. I'm rather surprised they're willing to wait a year to make the new season, who know what could happen to the franchise as a whole before that time.

I KNOW Companies milk a product, that's not what I was disagreeing with.
I don't want them to keep pumping out episodes every single week. That's why TT is one of my favorite companies because they don't pump shit out.
i mean the idea would be dope for another game based on the walking dead universe. think about it, open world, your character progresses as you do your choices and do different shit, building a community, or going moving to different places and shit. could be great..... but as far for this game? fucking idiotic.
He likes being able to actually play the game.
Subscription based games work for games where story is in the background, but do you have … moreany idea how utterly convoluted the storyboard would get if it were modeled how you want it? Do you have any idea how long it would take to put out each episode?
Adding more people to the team in a story driven game like this doesn't always make things easier. Adding manpower is a good thing to do if you're looking for polish, but not so good for generating globs of story driven content. Larger teams still need to operate as teams, and communication becomes an issue with more people and you end up with a different kind of oddity. For example, the Mass Effect 3 ending had its own team working on it separate from the team working on the rest of the game. That's why it feels so disjointed. The cut scenes in FFX had a separate team working on them while the rest of the game was being made, which is w… [view original content]
They are back over 10 million with last expansion. The subscription would be so the game could be much bigger, and not a cookie cutter story that doesn't give any freedom to deviate from the single desired outcome.
you can't compare an mmo to a episodic series they are two completely different things a subscription based thing won't change nothing it wi… morell just make telltale lose fans and last time i checked world of warcraft have lost subscribers they are around 6-7 million either way world of warcraft is frowned upon where i am from so i don't really care what people have to say about it
and telltale aren't working for free we are paying $25-$30 for their whole games unless you pirate them like a scrub
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
This isn't a World Of Warcraft 'waste your life and get fat' game. This is The Walking Dead 'cry your heart out and be depressed for days' game.
Because these games are short, cookie cutter stories that don't allow for any real choices. I want a game that gives real choices. It's bullshit that they advertise choices making a difference when they don't. The only way to do that is for a much bigger game. The only way for that to happen is more money. I'd be willing to pay that money for the game I think this could be.
Man I hope I don't see a single other topic about people being upset that a character the love got wacked. Because all I see on here is people going on, and on about how great the game is.
No. It will create a large mess that will eventually turn to shit because no one wants to pay 10-15 dollars every month for a game they won't be able to play every month.

However if TT makes so much more money on the episodes, who's to say they will put the extra profit into game development. I would just take the extra profit myself, and get a new TV.

It's like you guys read what I say, but aren't able to actually comprehend it. For starters by having a subscription it means you don't have to keep buying the game in seasons. Your game is updated regularly with new gaming content. Instead of having to wait for long periods of time for a chapter to be released it instead it is released every 3 - 4 weeks. On top of this they can release all kinds of side stories that don't include Clementine for example. I'm talking about a huge fucking game, with tons of story content. Not a single story line like they have now.

I'm talking about having FREEDOM to take the story where you want it. Sure they will obviously have to have some constraints, but far fewer than now. Maybe you wanted to try playing as Kenny, or Jane. Maybe you could have saved Luke and left with him, and Jane. Or killed Arvo. Or Joined Arvo.
Youre talking about turning the series into a real "Choose Your Own Adventure" story and you think throwing a little more money at the game will make that possible. Correct? I think most people understand your point they just don't understand how it will work the way you want. This isn't an MMO or an open-world game. It doesnt work the same way. I wish someone who actually works on this game could explain why this idea is or is not feasible.

Then you have no clue about how game design works. Sorry.
There's a reason that determinant characters always either die, go off screen for the majority of future titles (or entirely), or play very minor rolls in every game series that has them, even for triple A titles like Mass Effect.
We understand that, and don't like it. TellTale is NOT the kind of game developer for this, and I bet the quality of the story would go down drastically. We are pleased with 2 hours of content in two months, and even though we'd love it if episodes were released every month, it wouldn't be worth it as the game would get more bugs and lower quality.

Here is a direct quote from the user manual of the first game "The Walking Dead is a game where your choices matter. Things you say and do will have direct effect on the story that you experience, leading to numerous possible outcomes. Choose wisely, because your life and the life of those you care about depend on your decisions."
Now after playing this game can you say that telltale has lived up to that? Can you honestly say that yes your decisions have lead to numerous outcomes? Have you been able to spare those around you by your decisions? My answer is "No". What I want is a game that lives up to what was promised. I'm not oblivious to the fact that's a difficult task, realize it requires resources, and am willing to pay extra for it.

I know but I was stating why even go for this goal...
It is indeed unnecessary.
There's no rhyme or reason to this at all, and I can't see any perspective you could even look at this from for it to make any sense
Who knows why he thought of this...

Probably.

I'm happy they don't milk it out, it keeps the quality better. However I'm surprised they don't just milk it out.
I guess they know they have a good way to do things and don't try and mess with it.
If i was the CEO i would raise the price per episode about a dollar. People will pay it.
I would.
If one million people buy it, that is 1 more million dollars in your pocket. I doubt a dollar would be the make/break decision.
True enough.
Skip to 16 seconds, then listen to Gennaro speak about prices.
Instantly thought of this.
They couldnt make enough choices to make paying $15 a month worth it. The reason I play these games is because they're relatively inexpensive.
telltale would lose a customer if they started that
10 - 15 bucks a month? Bro, I'm very poor and I could barely afford the normal game, so no I I hate this idea.
Uncontrollable sobbing
...
Grabs another brick
Pay once for the game forever, or pay much more over the course of several months? How does the subscription model even make sense?

And they would also lose another!
I don't think it would be too difficult for say saving characters, instead of every determinant person be dead at the end.

Waste your life and get fat? I'm not fat, and the fact you post on this board doesn't give me the impression your life is any better than mine.

No. It will create a large mess that will eventually turn to shit because no one wants to pay 10-15 dollars every month for a game they won't be able to play every month.
How would this guarantee that people's favorite characters won't die?

Oh, I'm sorry? I didn't know I said your name specifically. I was insulting the type of game you were talking about, not you as an individual.
Shit, sorry, didn't know I couldn't make comments on posts. I'm sure your League of Legends game is waiting for you.

How would you suggest they build a game that can live up to what they promise? A game where decisions alter the game, and you can save people?
