No, you will not. You will be able to download it directly from the Telltale website.
Okay! Thank you for the answer.
Generally, no. That might change, however, in the event of day one technical difficulties.
^Which s a strong chance it will happen....
You will not.I would advise to purchase it from TT though (pre-order,whatever...),since the price is lower and you (if you pre-order) get access to a CE CD at the end of the Season.
Hehehe, I should have read this thread before pre-ordering... Truth be told, I was too excited for the second season and the few bucks a was saving that I didn't notice I wasn't getting a Steam version...
I wish I weren't so addicted to Steam, because I'd love to get that DVD. But it makes sense that they'd want to give a bonus to people who are giving them more money, since I hear that Steam takes something like 30% off the top.
So basically you can't connect the choices from Season 1 to Season 2 if you played the first season on Steam?
I seriously doubt this is the case, though I couldn't say for sure. Should be the same game with the same save files. At worst, you might have to drop your save files into a different folder or something.
so i don't get it. is the steam version better or telltale website?
Unless you can't stand the idea of having a game installed that isn't installed through Steam, I'd say the Telltale version is better - you give more of your money to Telltale and you get to order the collector's DVD at the end of the season for just the cost of shipping, which you can't get if you ordered through Steam.
can i also just order it from here and not download any episodes until the season is finished and still get the DVD without playing anything?
I certainly can't think of anything that would stop you from doing that, other than common sense. :P
I'm not sure this thread is accurate. I bought the season pass for The Wolf Among Us, on this site and received a Steam Key to unlock the game. As I recall it was later than the game unlocked for those who bought straight off of Steam, but I still got it within 24 hours of unlock.
Yeah, i actully like having my games on steam because it´s simple and organized.
Hope they will let us know asap how to apply the steam saves to track your choices into the TT version.
Yes, you can!
The reason for that was that Telltale decided to give Steam keys to people who had pre-ordered the game from them, as the game was available from Steam several hours before it was available from the Telltale Store. They did not have to do it and there's no guarantee that they will do it again.
From what I gather both versions of the game use the same save game, so the game SHOULD automatically find and use the save file.
True, and what you pay actually goes fully to TTG and not only 70%. Because Steam always gets 30% of the total payments.
Darth Marsden is right.
...ooooor a slow internet connection.
Actually, that's how I started out with Telltale games. 500 MB and 56k don't mix too well.
So, yes, you can!
Full disclosure: For the sake of the Telltale Store's individuality to customers, several moderators have, behind the scenes, questioned the practice to hand out Steam keys as some kind of apology just because TTG Store customers got the game two or three mere hours later than the Steam customers. Nothing went 'wrong' with the TWaU TTG Store release in my opinion, while the Season DVD is pretty much the USP the Telltale Store can have.
I have high hopes that the TTG Store releases episode 1 significantly before Steam this time.
Dude... I'm always right.
Hmm. Well it is not working. Where is the game data located (steam version of season 1 and 400 days) and where should I copy it to?
Nevermind. Solved it.

I too want my games on steam with my 1.5k game library, and I love collecting steam Achievements.
If a game isn't on steam, I don't buy it. period. What's the point? I'm paying for the game to get it in my library and get achievements and so on.
If I'm not gonna get those, there are other methods to play the game and save my money. Like borrowing it.
These thread necro bumps are so weird. It's like someone wakes up really early in the morning and says to themselves "Today I'll go on Telltale's forums, make an account and post something completely random and irrelevant in a thread from years ago, then I'll disappear and never post there ever again."
What a world we live in.
Don't Panic. That would be the case if it weren't for something called google pulling up certain threads on forums when they match something you were looking for. It's like someone has been living in a cave wakes up some day and discovers the internet. With bare minimum intelligence it's easy to understand how such a mundane chain of events occurs. The post is relevant to this thread, but I can see that much simpler things are hard for you to grasp.
