PC Controls

edited December 2014 in The Walking Dead

Yep, found some threads about this subject, but they were old and folks had already complained once about resurrection in each of them. So a new thread on an old subject.

I am just starting Season 1.

I liked the Borderlands game a lot, so I thought I'd try TWD. I struggled through the first 3 episodes of TWD season 1, but was about to give up last night in episode 3. The controls on the PC are just so bad. I could barely get through a couple of the shoot/hit zombie scenes. They seemed to take a 1/2 hour and many, many tries each to get through ... plus watching the cut scenes over and over.

I play FPS shooter games and have no problems shooting/hitting stuff with good controls, but I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in this game. The "reticle" just jumps all over the screen.

Then I have to aim with my right toggle, then remove my finger from that toggle to hit the A button to shoot/hit. Sometimes I would accidentally hit the RT (being an FPS player), and sometimes it would work, but most times not ... kinda odd.

Do the controls and/or cut scene skipping get better in season 2?

I hope so, as I bought both. Sigh.

Going from keyboard/mouse to my console controller worked well the TT Boderlands game (the mouse lag was awful in it, but very enjoyable after switching to controller), but maybe the keyboard/mouse will be better in TWD games. I dunno, something has to be better than the torture that the controls were in this game last night.

UPDATE------

See below ... but here is the deal...

SEASON 2 HAS WAY BETTER CONTROLS!!!!

Finally fired this up again last night, and used keyboard/mouse vs the gamepad.

It did work much better with the mouse ... sorta the opposite of how the mouse worked in the latest Telltale Borderlands game. I liked how the game controller worked in the Tales from the Borderlands game, once I got the controller working.

These Walking Dead games have great story lines, that have all the shine obscured by poor controls ... and repeating cut scenes ... arrrrrggggghhhhh. I guess that does make it scary, but not for the right reasons. LOL!

I just wanna hear the story. If I wanted FPS game play, I'd play an FPS game. Just let me watch the story, and pick an answer (that won't really matter), and I'd be happy.

Oh, well, 1 more episode of WD Season 1 down (I think I am on episode 4 now ... how many more of these?). I hope Season 2 has some improved controls.

  • Wrong section. Tales of Boarderlands is -----> Way

This is about TWD TT game.

I just mention Borderlands, because that is what brought me to TT games.

I liked the TT Borderlands game, I liked TWD series, so I thought I'd try the TT TWD game. Then the controls. That is how we got here.

I was just hoping for some info on how the controls are in TWD season 2 TT game. The same as Season 1 or different?

It don't matter, I bought Season 2, so I'll play it. I complain a lot, but I am hard-head and will stick with it.

It (TWD ... and TftB for that matter) is a good ... very good ... story. So, there is that. And that ain't bad.

Just started Season 2 and the controls have been updated and are way better.

The gamepad controls work like gamepad controls should.

So, if anyone is/was like me and is late to the game and thinking Season 1 controls are awful ... stick it out ... the story is worth it .. .then the controls get much better in Season 2.

  • how do I exit the closet upstairs at the dairy, I'm playing on my pc , and idk what 2 do

  • I figured it out.... and now I feel dumb.... lol
