The only silver lining to Luke's death

edited December 2014 in The Walking Dead

When Luke died I felt sad, but now I have realised that if he had made it, he probably would have fought Kenny at the end instead of Jane. I think this would have made it a lot harder to choose. If it did come down to Luke and Kenny I would probably pick, but if Luke was about to stab Kenny I would shoot him.

  • I'd like to see him try to fight Kenny with that leg... xD

  • Well, I guess that can be a silver lining in that sense, but from my own point of view, it only makes me sadder that all the build up between him and Kenny was a waste of time narratively speaking.

  • How would the fight even start? I don't see Luke lying in order to get someone else killed.

  • I could see them fighting, Luke and Kenny have had grudges on each other since episode 2, Luke was already getting pissed at Kenny before he died. We don't really know much about allot of the new character we've encountered in Season 2, we never really got to know who they were and what they've done and been through, so no telling how it could've gone if Luke lived, probably more peacefully or making Luke try to tell Clementine that Kenny's dangerous.

  • Doesn't exactly have to go that way, but okay.

  • It would have made much more sense than Kenny vs. Jane. Like what even is Kenny vs. Jane?

Kenny vs. Luke would not only have made sense, but made it much harder for the players to choose and won't feel as forced.

A silver lining? Wake up and smell the waffles, there is NO silver lining! T_T Luke's death sucked and that Kenny vs Luke thing if done right would've been AWESOME! And picking between them would've been utter hell instead of chucking my controller over my shoulder and shutting off my PS3 wishing I had a physical copy of the game to stomp on for not doing that awesome thing that would've been so awesome! OH WHHHHY! [bursts into tears and runs off crying.]

There's only one way I can see it happenening. Luke might have tried to convince Clementine they all should get away from Kenny, like he tried to hide the truth from Walter; beacuse "When I look at Kenny now, he seems broken. I just wanna survive, and that means picking the right sides". You, as a player, get to choose whether to go with Luke or stay with Kenny. Not sure about AJ though.

  • I think after the campfire scene you could TellTale Luke and Kenny liked each other. I also would never see Luke trying to kill someone

  • [Quietly stays bitter]

  • Kenny and Luke would determine the ultimate victor through a no-losers arm wrestling match

    Winner takes all

  • You're being quietly bitter now? That's new. :P

  • I was very sad when Luke died, I was just saying that amongst all the sadness....I don't know, maybe there was one crumb of comfort.

  • I don't see how Kenny and Luke would fight each other after that campfire scene where they are finally getting along. Plus Luke does not seem like the person to do what Jane did with AJ to start the fight with Kenny. Hell the worst they got with each other was at the end of episode 4. But in the end a fight between those would be a mismatch since Luke got shot in the leg, he wouldn't be able to put up a decent fight (although if we are re-writing it to have Luke fight Kenny mind as well re-write Luke getting shot in the leg).

Harder to choose ? For you maybe...
Kenny was pretty much a maddog by Ep 5. So his days were numbered . And Really ? Do you honestly see Luke doing any of the things that Jane did in ep 5? No.If Luke had lived (maybe he did?Fingers crossed) everything in that ep after the lake would have gone a lot differently.

  • So I'm guessing Luke is Chandler

I don't think Luke would do what Jane did, but the fight could have been started another way.

Who even says it has to be a completely physical fight? They can 'fight' in more ways than one.

Here's a possibility: have them get into a super heated argument that results in Kenny pulling a gun on him, which prompts Luke to pull a gun on Kenny. Then you end up having to shoot one of them in order to save the other. You could also keep the alone ending this way, where if you don't choose, they'll both shoot and kill one another.

  • Yeah, he'd have a better chance of getting ladies than Nick XP

  • The only silver lining to Luke's death

To me, is that he's immortalized within Clem. That one on one talk between them really made that bond stronger. When she tells Bonnie that there are still good men, that Lee was a good man, (can't remember the exact quote) I think she'll go ahead and add Luke to that list.

  • 100% Agree with yah :3

  • There will always be a place in Clem's heart for Luke.

  • I think that would of been allot better the whole Kenny vs Luke thing instead of Kenny vs Jane, because Luke has been wit you from the start of season 2, yes he might have dropped you but he was in the minority of people that thought it was a dog bite after a while.

Kenny however was Lees best friends in season 1, being there from the start and also cared about Clementine aswell as Luke, so im not sure how the people would see it play out, the whole fighting thing, but I think it would go something like.

Kenny: "I care about this baby and Clementine as much as I care about my entire life and you trying to fuck that up for me is going to get you fucked up."

Luke: " Listen Kenny I don't know how I "fucked things up" for you but if I did cause any pain Im sorry, but that violence against Arvo was unnecessary and even you know that, that's why Mike, Arvo, and Bonnie (determinant) left because they are scared of you Kenny, and with Jane gone no one is here to try and protect Clementine and the baby from you except me.."

Kenny: "I would never EVER hurt Clem or the baby and you fucking know that so why the fuck don't you just just leave, and leave me and the baby and Clem be, we're better off without you."

Luke: "Fuck that, you're broken Kenny, with Sarita gone you have no stability in a world of shit anymore, you are not going alone with 2 children that you might end up hurting, I am coming with you, like it or not."

Kenny would throw a punch at Luke and Luke will dodge it then it will be the exact same scenario as the Kenny and Jane fight with Luke under Kenny, and Kenny trying to stab him.

That's my thoughts anyway, it would have been allot harder for me, than the Kenny vs Jane, but I still would have picked Kenny over Luke.

  • I like your idea actually, but I think there are too many long sentences in there and not enough short ones.

  • well, Luke doesn't generally just say "yup, okay, whenever, etc"
