Debunking Bonnie's claim of Clementine getting Luke killed
Let's add in what Luke said first:
- Don't come over here.
- It's too thin for both of us.
- Clem, look at me. Pull out your gun, and shoot those damn walkers. Okay? Just give me a little time!
Luke is clearly worried about Clem and Bonnie's safety as well as his own. The ice is too thin for two people, somehow Bonnie doesn't get this into her junkie skull.
Bonnie goes over to him anyway and the ice breaks, they both fall in. Luke warned her that the ice is too thin. Instead of actually listening, she goes "Shut up! Shut up! Shut the FUCK up!"
Clem then tries to break the ice with her gun before falling in as well. Luke has died (thanks to you, bonnie) Clem is then rescued by Jane.
While Kenny is pinning everything on Arvo, Bonnie tells Clem "You could've....you could've helped him!" thing is, I was helping him until she decided to break the ice and get him killed. I did what Luke told me to, which was a better option than what Bonnie wanted me to do.
While Kenny is trying to get the truck fixed, Bonnie gets super pissed off at Clementine.
"It must be fun being a pretty little girl, no one ever expects you to do a damn thing. You and I both know you had a chance to save Luke. I've got nothin' more to say to you." If only the game allowed me to say "Luke's death is on you, not me. You little shit." however, Clem was forced to listen to her bullshit accusations.

Well, at least Clementine wasn't smoking cigarettes, and got that going for her, which is nice.
Agreed that Bonnie blaming you thing was pretty annoying.
Also hi CarverHater I haven't seen you in a while. ^_^
I had to even had to replay to drown, dull red-haired junkie with Luke , but not to listen to her nonsense.
I would have made it so instead of Bonnie being an idiot, you wouldn't be able to hold back the walkers, with one of them managing to get close enough to Luke to crack the ice, sending them both down. Scene would play out as normal from there.
That makes it so it's no one's fault in particular, but still makes the player feel some amount of guilt over the choice, IE. "I couldn't shoot all the walkers fast enough/maybe I should have just gone to help him instead". It would also let Bonnie hold the player in disdain without sounding like a complete hypocrite.
well... i shouldve let bonnie drown... sadly
Smokes are a great way to stay thin in the ZA. It would help with those hunger pains.
I let her smoke with Bonnie. A puff won´t kill her.
She can´t even afford to get addicted since they´re not easy to get in the apocalypse. Might as well let her try it.
Me too, As a smoker myself, i figure at least she will know what its like smoke her first cig. Its not like she will die from them. She has definitely bigger things to be concerned about.
She just needs the right brand and she'll be able to blow away walkers.
hypothetical, say Clementine is walking and runs into Eddie's old car, and finds his "sticky" should she partake of the sticky. I personally think she should, her life sucks already it would take the sting out a little.
Um... I was just making a Bigby reference, I'm not in line of encouraging Clem to take that stuff. I'd rather have Clem have clear concentration. >.>
Sorry if you misunderstood.
Bonnie cared for Luke. I see her reaction the same as Kenny's after Sarita gets chomped so I was not to upset with her just annoyed.
I figure her life can't get much worse.
A scared and now very upset lady grieving over what she thought would be a chance to save Luke, I understand why she would start using the blaming game (she also blamed Kenny as well) and Kenny pretty much did the same thing in episode 4. Poor Clem just tryin to help...
"So proud."
My post didn´t show up for some reason.
She can´t even afford to get addicted since they´re not easy to get in the apocalypse. Might as well let her try it.
That was plain b.s. I've had it with characters treating Clem like she's responsible for every bad thing that happens.
I don't think anyone actually bought into it. I'm pretty sure Bonnie just pissed everyone off after that.
Bonnie's just another character blaming Clementine for whatever goes wrong. Kenny and Arvo did the same thing. (Even though I guess Arvo's case is somewhat different seeing as he actually thought his sister was alive and Clem's a murderer, but it was still bullshit regardless.)
Bonnie was emotionally distraught and looked for someone to blame. Was that a dick move, especially since her going out on the ice to save him technically led to his death? Yes. Yes it was. Was it annoying to have her blame Clementine? Yes. It sure was. But I don't hate her guts over it.
Exactly, what is life without trying new things.
i'm just saying if Clementine was under my charge and its the ZA, I'm going to be under some sort of Substance abuse, and if she wants to join in, who am i to say No. I aint her dad, she can make her own choices.
I'll tell you why she did that, the V was blinded by the D. She clearly had feelings for Luke and Bonnie, being the dumb bitch she is, thought that she could actually help him by adding more weight to already breaking ice.
And then she has the nerve to blame Clem, who, as you said, was already helping Luke by doing what he said. I agree, where was the option to stand up to her and tell her it was your fault, or better yet, tell her how you have single handedly done everything for this group since the season began.
What Luke says isn´t necessarily the best option to get him to safety, it´s simply the option that doesn´t put a risk to anyone else, i believe that´s what was in Luke´s mind when he was telling that, and it makes sense considering the pride that he expressed earlier. When checking his leg wound, he said about how he hold his feelings about sadness and guilty for the people that died to himself, and how he hates being wounded, a burden that slows down the group.
Nothing would guarantee that he could really make it in his own, but when shit happens, someone always has to be blamed. At times likes these everyone think that their plan is the absolute best and if things still go wrong you have to blame the one who didn´t go according what your plan, even when actually nothing could be done. If you choose Luke´s way, that´s what happens between the player and Bonnie.
Kenny: "Clementine you killed Sarita!" "I'm so sorry for blaming you for a tragedy Clementine!"
Bonnie: "Clementine you killed Luke!" "Leave Clementine bleeding in the snow!"
Arvo: "Clementine you killed Natasha!" "Oops my finger slipped!"
Non-death blame-on:
Rebecca: "Even though you have no ties with Carver, I'm going to be rude to you temporarily!"
Alvin: "I'll only swear if you threaten me!"
Carlos: "I don't care if you and Sarah want Sarah to live, I can keep her alive myself!"
Luke: "I'll only be mad if you don't choose my side!"
Nick: "I'll kill you for a dog bite!"
Carver: "I'm going to kill you for a decent reason!"
Mike: "Lets leave Clementine bleeding in the snow V2!"
Jane: "I don't care how many times you disagreed with me, you're still the main reason I came back! I suddenly develop care for the group after wanting people to die because I care about you"
Wha.. This isn't written that good...
How do you think Bonnie or Clem were gong to save Luke if the ice didn't break. The only thing I can think of is to grab his rifle and use that to pull him out, but it looks like in that scene he wasn't going to give that a try. He seems to weigh more than Bonnie and definitely Clem, wouldn't they be worried that he would just pull them down with him? I do realize that wasn't exactly the time to come up with a plan, with all the walkers and panicking, but still Bonnie blamed Clem for shooting and that's something helpful and succeeded.
For the love of all that is holy, don't turn this into a whoever vs. Jane thread.
Not trying to, just saying that everyone puts Clementine for the reason someone dies or for an act a character commits, as in Jane came back and because of her act of returning there was a Kenny VS Jane scenario. Also Vitali dies because Jane kills him.
Wasn't meant to be :x
Intentional or not, the fact that you initially made out Jane to be selfless when stacked against everyone else was fuel enough.
Well she was the only person who didn't actually blame Clementine on anything, so...
It doesn't need to be debunked, it was obvious that it wasn't Clementine's fault.
Bonnie was just looking at the closest person to reach so she could blame her, to most likely hide the fact that she did by stepping on the ice when Luke told both of them not to.
S2 of TWD: Let's all blame Clem whenever somethin' goes wrong! Why? We don't need no reason, hurr durr.
