Robert Kirkman, You Scared Of Telltale?

A lot of people that I been talking to recently have been telling me that they prefer the Tell-Tale version of the Walking Dead more than the TV,comics, and novel series. Which is kinda surprising because the Comics is the media that started it all.

but yet Clementine , a outside entity, outside the comic media, made the Walking Dead to something that goes beyond just watching the game. You feel for the characters, you feel concerned about their safety. Who here didn't cry on at the ending of season 1, or all the endings of Season 2 Episode 5? Telltale creates some powerful, emotional content.

And Telltale produces the story, content, music, and animation. Kirkman just oversees the work;yet, he gets credited the most of what TT puts in. Atleast, He can give a shout out to the writers of the game, especially,Nick Breckon and Pierre Shorette, for writing the tear jerking season finale.

Lastly, why can't the Video Game characters crossover into the comics, even though, the comics and the game are cannon with each other? I feel that the reason that he doesn't want the video game characters to crossover to the Comics is because he wants to stay in control with the only piece of media of the Walking Dead that he truly writes and controls, his precious comic. If Clementine was to appear in the comics, fans would recognize her as a product of telltale, not Kirkman. He's afraid of that.

  • I thought Kirkman worked for the show only? The show has been extremely boring, and overrated.

Season 5 got off to a great start, but as predicted.. it became LAME

  • It appeals to a different group of people... gamers.

Significantly more people have read the comic/watched the show. I doubt kirkman cares to be honest especially as no doubt he gets some of the revenue from the game anyway.

Not to mention season 2 seems to have affected people the same way all walking dead does in the long run, many people eventually get tired of the same formula which is one of the main reasons season 2 is less popular

Finally I never understand why there has to be dissent between fans of all the versions, I like them all and realise the comic , show and game all have good and bad points. Nothing i've seen seems to suggest he has a problem with the game

greg miller actually asked kirkman about how he feels about people calling the game better than the comic on playing dead and he actually says he loves that people like the game better than his comic and the reason they can't crossover is that it simply wouldn't work considering we choose our actions and plus the game is 2 years behind and the game group is not in washington and honestly clem in the comics is a terrible idea just leave her with telltale he isn't afraid if he was he would have stopped them from making a season 3

  • It's kind of 50/50 where I live, some people who are labelled 'gamers' don't seem to understand that some games focus more on the story than having 100 different types of guns.

  • Yeah man thats true! I agree with you. I also watched the interview from IGN with Robert Kirkman. And I was asking myself why should he be afraid? He's part and owner from one of the best series/games/comics etc. It is a matter of taste what you find better. I didn't read the comic yet, I'm honest but I love the games and the series. I guess the comic is amazing, too but the comic didn't get me in a way like the series or the game.
This is a difficult topic. Let's leave it at that. Everyone has their own opinion and position to it. Not everyone can understand this.

  • Nope. After second season he calmed down. Ol' Breckon is his pal.

I was thinking more of the lines of Clementine being in the Comics in a way that it doesn't affect the time line at all.

Perhaps, they can make a Glen special in the comics, somewhat like the Tyresse and Governor special, where we can see more of the story on how he meets with the RV group, His sad travel on trying to find his family, and how he meets with Larry and Lilly; Thus, we can have Clementine and Lee for a brief moment in his special.

Or just make a Clementine special, where it has nothing to do with Rick's group, no DC, nothing affiliated with Glen or anybody. Clem's special can just be a substitute for making a DLC. Seeing that we don't have any choices during the 16 months and anything that was done in the 16 months already change her character regardless of player's choices, it would be logical, profitable, and less time consuming to just make what happened in the 16 months into a 45 page, 9 dollars, exclusive Telltale comic.

  • I agree, Scott Gimple has done amazing work with this series since he took oveer as sshowrunner.

  • Agreed. My only complaint about season 5 is how big a pacifist Tyreese is.

  • I agree with you in that I dont get why there has to be a competition. I enjoy all versions of the universe and think they complement each other.

  • Completely agree. Tyreese was one of my favorite characters, and the writers turned him into the biggest fucking pussy in the show, and that's saying a lot since we now have Father Gabriel.
