Why AMC 'The Walking Dead' and Telltale Games 'The Walking Dead' are polar opposites
Now before you go pointing out the obvious the point I'm trying to put across runs deeper than some of the clear difference. For instance one is a TV Series and the other is a gaming franchise. Both are equally enjoyable, but if you think about how they utilise there characters, they could not be more different. In AMC's 'The Walking Dead' you have a group of characters who have been in it since S1 right up to what now is the mid-season break of S5, Rick, Carl, Carol, Daryl and Glenn, which you accessorise around and change the group overtime.
Now if you think of Telltale Games 'The Walking Dead' there are only 2 characters who have survived from E1 S1 to be in season 3 Clementine and Kenny and Kenny is determinant so we all know what that means. Which only leaves Clementine as the only character likely to last 3 seasons or more, I would like to see more longevity in characters, but in a world where everything is getting worse and supplies are scarce it would be unrealistic for characters to last longer.

The reason is that the game has no multi seasonal planning, they plan for a season. This honestly doesnt work to be honest and season 2 should have left several alive to continue
I think it would work better if some more characters lasted more than 2 seasons.
Actually, Telltale signed for multi-seasons with Skybound and S2 was planned/announced early on in S1's production. The writing is being made to carry on to other seasons, it just has been executed poorly (ex. killing every character except for 1 or 2 by the end of every season).
Apparently, Telltale has signed the same deal with HBO about Game of Thrones so if it becomes a multi-season game as well lets just hope they can plan it better.
Hopefully they will make characters last a little longer.
