You could say that for him in season one and two, i didn't understand why so many people liked him...but for season three and onward I understood completely, i didn't even like season three much but I really enjoyed his screen time.

I believe that AMC killing Daryl Dixon off at this point in the TV series.. Would be nearly equivalent to Tell-Tale killing off Clementine in the game series at this point. Many fans would be sour and try to boycott each series respectively.

Daryl is the most overrated character in the series smh. They probably won't kill him off though because if Beth got 52k supporters on her petition to bring her back, imagine the numbers for him.
Anyway, I hope they kill him off when Negan comes. The reason Kirkman had Negan kill Glenn was because he was a fan favorite in the comics. Daryl is a fan favorite on the show, soooooo....

Daryl is hands-down the perfect candidate for Negan's 'introduction'.
There would be a complete outcry, and pretty much everyone would be out for Negan's blood. Twitter and any walking dead related news sites would completely blow up about it. The actor for Negan would probably get death threats over it. It would be a glorious disaster after the episode first airs.
If you really want to establish Negan's character right off the bat (forgive me for this pun), then that's the way to do it. Even if you don't like Daryl too much, you can't deny that that death would be incredibly effective.
Well Negan killed off one of the more popular characters in the comic so why not have him kill the most popular show character.
I liked Beth, but why petition xD. I'm so sick of petitions, it's gotten to the point where people make one just because a character died. Lol

Can't argue there. But I think that it's imperative they keep Glenn, as Lucile's victim. It's too important for Maggie's development. If Daryl died, people would freak out, sure. But on the show, not much would change. If the situation stayed the same and Negan just picks him, at random. He'd die a hero. Everyone would mourn him but it'd be business as usual, the next episode. But, at that particular time, Glenn had too much to lose, in Maggie and their unborn baby. Also, Rick not being able to do anything while Glenn got his head bashed, was one of the reasons she decided to move to Hilltop. I personally would rather them kill Daryl. I don't think I could handle Glenn screaming "MAGGIE!" while being killed. That was too much for me in the comics.
Incredibly effective in ticking everybody off you mean. If Daryl dies he dies, but I don't see how death threats and having the fandom explode to do such things would be considered a good thing o_O and for that to be so would be a sign his death wasn't dealt with correctly if people felt the need to express their anger in that way. They want to hit fans in the feels and emotionally cripple them yes, yet still keep them coming back for more, not make them rage quit or give up watching the series anymore, otherwise that's money and viewers going right out the door.

To be fair, the death threats thing would still likely happen regardless. If any other character killed Daryl, some percentage of the fanbase would do it because they're crazy enough.
Anyways, they should strive for both reactions. Break people down emotionally with his death, establish an antagonist everyone will want to see get killed brutally in revenge for it (which would probably be a driving force for fans to keep watching the show), and generate a huge amount of overall buzz for the show in the process.
And I don't think they'd lose a majority of the fanbase from the death of even Daryl. The show is huge, and it's still far ahead of basically any other series they've aired in terms of ratings and viewers. I doubt Daryl could dent that number too badly.

Now that you mention it, I do agree with it being important to Maggie's character and the overall story going forward. As an alternative, I suppose I could see Daryl receiving Abraham's death instead. That could work just as well, I'd suppose.
Of course who's to say, there's so much that could be subject to change between now and then. I think it depends where they ultimately decide to take these characters going forward. For all we know, someone else may ultimately fill Maggie's role.
