Could Carlos really have been in Kenny's place?
I have been hearing a lot of talk before about how Carlos could've been in Kenny's place had he not made his return. Before he did, Luke was saying to Sarah once that he's not going to do anything crazy "or not nice", and then it sparked the possibility that Carlos is potentially dangerous. And, even though the season is already done, I'm still curious to know. With everything that Kenny does in episodes 3-5, could Carlos do it as well? I mean there's,
- Taking the radio and admit the theft for Clem
- Beating Carver's face in
- Getting depressed and angry at Clem over losing another loved one (Sarah)
- Becoming protective over the newborn
- Being hostile towards Arvo
- Fighting Jane when she says she "lost" AJ

How does one get attached to Carlos?
Yes if episode 1 and 2 Carlos had continued but he didnt. Or on the other hand Pete could had with Sarita being replaced wit Nick post ep 2.
Honestly I was thinking Nick in ep 2 with shooting at people, Carlos in ep 3 with Carver and Pete in ep 4.
I could definitely see Carlos taking Kenny's place this season. It probably would have worked better, and we would see real character development.
Could have worked. I like the idea.
One doesn't.
Then that means that Sarah would of been used as a plot device and get killed off just for Carlos to lose it and it would been a repeat to the Duck situation from season 1.
I don't think Carlos would ever take fault for stealing the radio, not with Sarah to look after. He knew that Carver was dangerous (which is why he held Sarita back), and he knew that whoever took the blame was most likely going to get murdered or severely hurt.
Carlos would never beat Carver's face in, again, not with Sarah to look after. He wouldn't want her to look at her father like a monster.
I can see him getting angry at Clementine over Sarah dying. I can 100% see that.
I'm 50/50 about the newborn one.
I don't think he'd be hostile towards Arvo. Carlos is one to keep a level head, unless it's got something to do with Sarah.
He would never fight Jane. I don't even think that fight- let alone anything that happened in Episode 5 would happen if Carlos was there instead of Kenny.
Spread the Carlos Love
That could have worked , but a familiar face sells more so heeeereeee's Kenny
By understanding his character and his importance to the group.
I could see the final battle between Luke and Carlos, I'd think that if Sarah died, Carlos would try to look at Clementine as a new daughter-figure and be overprotective of her and Luke would probably object and say that Clementine can handle herself and yada yada yada ;x
Because that's stuff Kenny would do not Carlos
I'd argue that this is more Nick's style.
I can see Nick engaging in a firefight with Carver and inadvertently getting a couple of hostages killed.
I can see him freaking out in the truck and demanding a hare-brained scheme to rush a bunch of armed men.
I can see him causing fights with Mike and accidentally weakening the fortification.
I can see him insulting and picking fights with Carver.
I can see him taking the blame for Clem.
I can see him murdering Carver out of vengeance.
I can see him freaking out over the loss of Luke.
I can see him beating on Arvo for causing Sarah's death.
I can see him getting in a fight with Jane.
I'd have preferred to see Carlos with a bigger role. Tweaking his character a little could have created something similar to what Kenny was in season 2. It would have been interesting at least
Honestly, I thought he was an interesting character.
Yes. I think it was originally planned to be Luke vs Carlos.
Thank you! Finally someone agrees with me!
You know, I have seen videos to where Kenny and Jane were switch with Lee, Carver, Luke, Lilly, and even Clem got switched with Sarah in one video. But I couldn't really enjoy watching the whole thing in some videos because of original dialogue and voices coming from certain characters, the face emotions and some moments and even how the hands were outta place. But, I gotta admit, most of them do come out looking good, and I wouldn't mind if someone did do a Carlos vs. Luke next.
One most certainly does.
I feel as if Carlos losing Sarah might tread the same arc Kenny went through in S1, so that'd probably be repetitive and wouldn't help S2's already sub-par writing.
As much as I wanted to see Carlos play a more prominent role in the story, his past with Carver should've been explored rather than taking Kenny's place in the story.
Carver should have tossed Sarah out in the wild for the group running away. I bet Carlos would go Kenny mode after that. Would also show how pragmatic and twisted he is. Way more so than just murdering a cripple anyway.
But is carlos dangerous? He is just some big hispanic but seemed smart, and same with Kenny i think if Kenny stayed him self and didnt get so strong, look at S1 and S2 he would've been way less aggresive.
You must be that one.
That lonely, only one.
No, that'd just be ridiculous.
Sarah got attached to Carlos, that's proof.
I don't think he could replace kenny, but i do think he could have lasted longer than he did and got more development if they got rid of the dumb shock factor in ep3
Ahh, I hadn't thought about it mirroring Kenny's S1 arc but you are absolutely right.
I can't see Carlos in this role, it's more like those scenes were written especially for Kenny.
Yes. Anyone is capable of murder.
Here is how i would of played it.
