The most we got out of a decision was whether to leave Clem's house at night or day.

I sure did like the night option.

  • Welcome to Telltale, home of The Walking Dead and other series, may I take your order?

  • Actually, what they say at the start isn't misleading, the game is tailored to how you play, it doesn't give you a whole different story based off your decisions but it does change things. It's like asking for someone to make a suit, you can ask to have it be a certain colour, you can put stuff on it, perhaps the suit even has a pocket, but at the end of the day it's still a suit, just that different people will react differently to you because of what your suit looks like, which is why I think these games are special. It's like watching how other people would react to you if you did something different and it tells compelling stories to boot.

I've never really cared about multiple endings, or avoiding the deaths of other people, I'm just in it for the story.

  • Yeah, we know that. Choices never matter, doesn't matter what game. Honestly, why post something we all know about.

  • They do, sort of. Think of it like this:

You're going to work, you can take either your car, a bus, or walk, they take you a different way, but in the end, you still end up at work.

  • I see you are new here, welcome.

Tailored by your choices. Not based on your choices.

Think of it like making a suit. Tailoring is how it's sewn, but the it's the same material, and there's only so many things you can change.

  • Yes they do, I find it difficult to believe that people don't seem to think choices to change the game, it changes the story enough so it can still work out the same way, give them a chance, they aren't exactly a big company, every choice I make may only create a new dialogue track but that's choice enough for some people, the story itself is what makes me play the game and the choices do matter, it doesn't matter how little they change the game, they still change it, so choices do matter and The Walking Dead is practically just like any other game, except it gives us choices on what we want to do and it has a captivating story. Hate TellTaleGames if you want but I will keep having faith in them.

  • The stories change enough for me to play the future games. But I think I've read somewhere that due to fans like you not liking the fact that choices "don't matter" they're going to change that somewhat in S3.

  • your decisions dont really change the game

    water is wet

  • What would be brilliant would be Telltale to make "Story Branching". Having several different ways to play the whole game, like every single choice you make will change the entire game. Maybe there could be 3 different outcomes in one scene like you have a choice of 3 people to save and saving each one creates a new path for the story.

I always thought what if Lee (SPOILERS) went with Lilly in Season 1 (if you took her in the RV)? With story branching, by going with her would change the whole game. Lee would be with Lilly (and Clem too), and we would see how the story progresses not ever knowing what became of Kenny, Katjaa, Duck etc. The reason Telltale won't ever do this is because the amount of work to do that would be intense, it would be like creating 2 or 3 different games at once but it would be something i would absolutely love if it happened.

hat they say at the start of each game is sorta misleading

no because its says that the series tailors (adapts) to your choices which it does how you treat kenny in season 1 is a perfect example he is a complete asshole if you don't side with him and if you do he is just awesome and certain things can happen depending on how you treat him it never stats that choices will branch out the game

  • To be honest I would play the game even if choices didn't make too much different but I'd love the game even more if choices became more impactful, it would really give reasons for some people to buy all the games so that they can play with their decisions and would also add allot of replay value.
