Kenny knowing how to help give birth is completely unbelievable to me. He had a son so he just knows how to do this? That sounds absolutely ridiculous. The entire Episode, at least to me, sounds like a stupid fan fiction. None of the stuff in this Episode is even believable. Arvo finding the perfect position to ambush the group even though you can wait days before you leave. It all just sounds silly to me.

The Episode isn't really bad I would say, just a lot of unbelievable shit happens.

Edit: Changed some of the wording.

    Nice one ;]

  • I'm exaggerating my thoughts, I should call it something like "silly" or "stupid"

BTW, I feel like this thread should have ended when it did 2 months ago and not have been bumped. I won't ask the mods to close it since I feel you guys should still be allowed to discuss, however I most likely won't be partaking in any discussion that goes on here. K? K.

  • I agree, when people say 'I hated Amid The Ruins' I always wonder why since I think it was sort of like the majority of penultimate episodes in that it built up to the last episode. Sure it wasn't the best episode for this season but I wouldn't say I hated it or even disliked it since it did have some good moments in it like; talking to Kenny and watching as his character breaks even more, talking to Luke and getting his views on Kenny and see a flaw of his (I didn't like that it happened but I didn't like how most people thought he was unrealistically perfect before Amid The Ruins so the episode showed his human flaws) also I think Amid The Ruins brought us closer to Rebecca and made her seem more likeable in comparison to the first episode.

To be honest, I think quite a lot of people disliked the episode because of Sarah and Nick's deaths but honestly I don't think they had the worst deaths ever. From the start, people have had mixed feelings about the two characters (some love them and some hate them) at the moment it seems like more people love them than hate them since some of the fans (not all of them) can bombard you if you say anything against them (I don't dislike Nick or Sarah but they aren't characters I feel invested in). Anyway, throughout the season you had the option to either be friendly to both Sarah and Nick or unfriendly, in episode 4 Sarah can either die if you leave her or being crushed by the deck. If you let Sarah die in the room (and leave Sarah) then it can show that your Clementine is ruthless and doesn't want to carry along a 'heavy burden' (the achievement name) and with Nick, his death in episode 2 (when Walter doesn't help him) is another test to your Clementine, to see whether you will give up on Nick or keep him around and try to make things work out. Nick's death on the fence in episode 4 and Sarah's death on the observation deck can just go to show that no matter what you do, sometimes you can't help everyone. This ties in with the last episode where Jane tells you (in the scene after Luke's death when they are looking after the baby) that Clementine wont be able to help Kenny and makes you (as Clementine) think about whether you want to try to help Kenny or not. So basically before their deaths they were both upset after loosing a close relative and in each scenario you can either try to help them or leave them, just like with Kenny; you can either keep him alive and try to help him or you can give up on him and leave him. By the way, I am not saying that my opinion is right and is 100% what Telltale were going for it is just my interpretation of the matter.

Wow, that is the longest post I have ever made!

  • This episode I felt they did great for Kenny, they made him go back to his season 1 jerk type of guy when he has to deal with Sarita's death, this was probably here just so the final choice in episode 5 wouldn't be so one sided towards Kenny, because let's face it Kenny had been a great guy towards Clem this season up to this point. It also made it really determinant on how you view Ken by the end of this episode, if you resist his accusations about Sarita being your fault he seems more of an asshole during the episode, if you zip your mouth and take it all in, he'll apologize making his accusations not so bad. The real moment Kenny shined though was in the moment when the baby was coming, he did all he could to help Rebecca get the baby out and in the end gained success. That's it for Kenny, I felt they did an awesome job with him this episode.

They made Kenny repeat his arc from season 1. That's not good. They could have explored a different side of Kenny, but instead they chose to make him a repeat of his former self, which isn't good from the story telling side.

I thought Jane was the redeeming factor of the episode, but I still dislike it strongly.
