Vernon Defense Thread

Yup I know what you're thinking. "Ugh another one" I feel responsible for all these defense threads but they are needed. You know why? Because there are two sides of every story. Now that's out of the way I wanted to talk about Vernon and how I think hatred towards him isn't justified. When you think about it him and his group were very helpful. He helped Lee get back to his people, was willing to try to help Omid even after his life being threatened not an hour earlier. He helped the group navigate their way through Crawford and get the things they needed and last he showed genuine care for Clementine and offered to take care of her. I know the boat thing was a definite stab in the dark but he had to look out for his people. I really don't think there is any similarity to how Bonnie, Mike and Arvo tried to steal the truck because he wasn't low enough to almost kill anyone to do it. He can't be compared to Carver, Stranger, St. Johns or Crawford. He even apologized for it, not that it meant much but it showed he had some care.

  • Yeah I remember you saying something about making one of these in the previous thread I saw you in..

I did like Vernon a lot and when he offered to take Clementine i took the nicer approach to it and not throw him against the wall, I don't hate him at all actually i just think he was trying to do what was right in the moment but it wasn't really right, really common in the series.. What Vernon did about the boat is no where on the scaled of what Bonnie/Arvo did in season 2 they are off of the list they're so high up. He did seem like a genuinely nice guy and proving that from saying he was sorry about doing what he did..

I like him :) I get why people hate him, but sometimes it's better to accept that some people need to look out for THEMSELVES not just someone they found not even a day earlier and getting determinately threatened by the leader

  • I never really felt any hate towards him. After all it never even mattered all that much anyway, Lee still got bit and Clementine was gone.

  • I personally hate thieves, and backstabbers. I would have my Nate moment if we ever met up. I'm sure people would call me crazy , and I am. Anyone who fucks with people i care about will get it.

  • Out of all the people i would love an option to kill him after the boat incident.

  • But not Mike and Arvo after nearly killing Clementine?

  • At the time, I personally was too concerned with Lee being bitten to care about Vernon stealing the boat. I still can't really bring myself to dislike the guy all that much, even though he stabbed the group in the back. He was a great guy 100% of the time he was onscreen, at least in my own playthroughs.

  • Nope, i'm weird like that. I hate Vernon , Mike left because he felt it was the smartest thing for him at the time, Arvo shot Clementine at the end of that Season, i was so disconnected to her character i honestly didn't care. Clementine sucks as a protagonist, she worked better as that little sidekick.

  • I liked him for the most part during that episode, he was a nice guy, he helped Omid and helped us when we were at Crawford. And then when he wanted to take Clem away, that's when I lost my shit. As Lee, I would do anything to protect Clementine, anything, and I wasn't going to let anyone take her away from me, especially some guy I just met, that's why I told him to walk away. The whole boat thing just made it worse, but he still isn't one of my most hated characters if it makes you feel better.

  • I agree. I love her to bits but is the ultimate side kick.

  • I doubt he'll ever win any "most hated character" competition but that doesn't mean I don't still think he's a prick.

  • If you can't trust your friends who can you trust. I hate Vernon so much. If Vernon wanted to escape too, we could of made a compromise, where we pick him up and drop him somewhere, that isn't what happened. HE fucked us over, and if i ever get the chance for some revenge i'm going to eat every bite as slow as i can.

Hell Yeah thieves and backstabbers must die!

  • He's dead. Mentioned in 400 Days.

I think I hated Brie more than Vernon.

  • I'm even more mad at him now. He goes and gets himself KILLED OFF SCREEN.

XMAN CARTOON Cold Vengeance- I feel the Hatred Sabertooth has for Wolverine when he throws him in the water, and he sees him get away.

YOU WONT CHEAT ME OF MY REVENGE!

You'll DIE FROZEN AND ALONE, BUT I WILL TRACK YOU DOWN, JUST FOR THE PLEASURE OF BURYING YOUR BONES!
