Because TellTale tried to make a stereotypical redneck, full well knowing that most people hate rednecks and Christians. Both of which Kenny happens to be. You either loved or hated Kenny.
I know many hate him because of his popularity, which has a lot to do with how realistically human of a character he is. If they hate him as… more a person, that's a compliment. I've kind of stopped paying attention to the haters, they tend to recycle the same argument over and over again.

She tells me that i'm not responsible enough to take care of Clementine, the other day, while discussing TWDG. i was dumbstruck, i could easily take care of her. I'm not that bad. I can drive us to any restaurant in Ohio, how hard could it be, other than the awkward sex talk. I could do what my parents did,
I think Kenny is prejudice and says some things that would get him in trouble, but i don't believe he hate's anyone because of the color of their skin. He never treats Clementine badly and apparently she is african american.
He still has the belief that Lee regarding his race has abilities specific to his race, that is the meaning of racism therefore with that one line he did show true racism.
For me its never been simple as that. I don't know, Kenny acted like a complete asshole to me in S1, after i didn't help Kill Lily's father. As a adult i believe it was my responsibility to try to take care of Clementine the best i could without exposing her to violence. I really tried, however I made some mistakes along the way, i lost my temper and killed Danny St. John, CLementine's response was shocked and horrified for what i did. I felt genuinely bad because, i exposed a young girl to violence, just like Kenny did.
So i started thinking it would be hypocritical for me, to judge him. We were locked in a room with a potential killer, I don't know if he made the right decision or not. Its one of those, there is no right answer. Then Kenny gets his epic hero moment, which gives him redemption. Season 2 comes along, and they make Kenny into this raging psycho maniac, who picks fights with everyone, hard headed, and never listens to anyone else's opinion.
Kenny would get progressively worse, part of me was glad he was there, because he was the only constant in Clementine's life since this whole mess started. On the other hand, he is out of control to the point he is excessively beating on a crippled teenager over a bad choice. Its hard to express my true feelings about Kenny.
I am a person i guess that values history. It was the deciding factor of why i let Kenny stab Jane. I truly felt bad when she died, until i heard the baby crying. Then i was glad she was dead.

Because it doesn't change how I feel about the guy, and makes me realize the qualities in him that I like that much more. He's a controversial character, and I love that. If those who hate Kenny want to keep ranting and raving, I'm not gonna stop them.

I guess it depends on your definition of racism.

What attitude? I wasn't trying to be rude at all. As long as people are respectful, I have no problem with them. It wasn't supposed to be an insult to you, but I apologize if you took it that way.
Okay, no need for attititude. I asked out of curiosity but I didn't feel like it was really answered for me. And I was partly kidding about the last part since I'm a "ranting and raving" Kenny hater.

I don't care that you dislike Kenny, it's your opinion. It's the people who go looking for fights and act as if those who like Kenny should feel bad that used to get on my nerves. But I know better now; it's best to stay positive.

I love them high maintenance girls.
They just don't love me!

No wonder i turned out so well.
I know right, i take care of my nephew on occasion. I have three dogs, so thats like taking care of children. Women get stressed out, and take it out on me.
So i take it out on the 2.5 liter Yaeger bottle, i bought yesterday.
I don't know, I never found Jane to be manipulative like others say. I just think she's super fucking smart and it comes across as being manipulative. She has tons of experience, and in my opinion, her urging Clem to leave Sarah behind and to leave the group was just advice based on her past experiences, not manipulation. She's ten steps ahead of everyone, can read people like a book and literally predicted everything. She knew who Kenny was, she knew Sarah wasn't meant for this world and she knew the group was crumbling: all correct. She genuinely cares about Clementine and I don't see much selfishness in her. Remember, she came back and saved the group from Arvo's gang and she dragged Clem out of the frozen lake and was the ONLY person who worked on building a fire for her and getting her warm.
And for the record, you can love Kenny (like I did) and still shoot him. He's gotten so many people killed and was always putting the group at odds. From a survivalist standpoint, I just thought it was time. Jane, on the other hand, I saw as a big sister and someone who's willing to do the dirty work like Kenny but goes about it in a much more reasonable way.
Firstly, I say exactly how she gets better: watch her ending and let her make the choice about the family. Also the fact that if Clem asks h… moreer to save Sarah she will try says a lot.
Choosing clem as a substitute for her sister is a funny argument considering Kenny does the same thing with Clem and his son, to such an extent that he mixes up their names. That's just one of the ways the characters are surprisingly similar.

Honestly, I wasn't the biggest Kenny fan in season 1. He was mostly a jerk to Lee, even though I helped him a bunch of times. That completely changed in season 2. I felt Kenny was the only person I could actually trust. He might of been a hothead, but I knew him completely. At first it was a "Better the Devil you know than the one you don't" situation. Through the episodes he became someone who I thought truly had Clementine's back.
My initial reaction at the end of season 2 was to look away, but I paused to think about it. I foolishly believed Jane, and thought that Kenny had to be shot. I immediately regretted it when it turned out that AJ was alive. I have a second save file where I sided with Kenny. I'm not sure which one I will use for season 3, I wish I had never paused the damn game...
I hated him in one season. In episode 4, at the end when Lee was bitten, not only that he refused to go look for Clem, he said, "Do not think that I'll wait for you as soon as we omit the boat on the water, we sail away." In the second season, he behaves like a my friend, lol. Such a good friend who was getting ready to throw a 9-year-old girl, just 'cause he did not like my Lee. And of course I shot him at the first opportunity.
Can you point out some topics where this has occurred? Because I've seen plenty of anti-Kenny posts and not one has ever used the fact that he's a redneck or a Christian against him. Maybe they'll call him a redneck asshole or something, but that's not the reason why they dislike him, and they'll usually explain their reasoning right after.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am saying that it sounds like complete bullshit. But hey, maybe this is some phenomenon I've not seen since I tend to spend more and more time away from this site. Who knows? But considering the premise of your argument is "most people hate rednecks and Christians", which is absolutely, fundamentally false, I have my doubts.
How about those are some of the biggest things people use against him when they say they don't like him. I know how much people hate rednecks and Christians, I've seen it on this cite many times.
I backed him up on almost everything and he still didn't help me. I even dropped Ben my second playthrough and he didn't help me, he's hypocritical and unreasonable.
I actually was more fond of Kenny in season 2. Kenny was much less likable in season 1 to me. He seemed more selfish to me, but that's because he only cared about protecting his family. In season 2, Kenny saw Clementine as the last of his family. Kenny's problem is that he's too stubborn. He always harped on Lily about not having her "own personal dictatorship", but he was vying for that same control...that's why they always bumped heads. Lily tried to treat everyone more as equals, but Kenny was truly only interested in what the group could do for his family. When they're in Crawford trying to get through the armory he says something like, "yeah, but what has he/she done for me lately"...Now if this was the option in season one, if Lee had to shoot Kenny, I probably would've shot him, but Kenny immediately takes Clementine under his wing...and I saw him become more of a parental figure to her in season two. I didn't think Clem should shoot Kenny and the consequence of that was that she had to sacrifice Jane, but Jane did tell her to stay out of it

Exactly. To all of this.
Thank ya kindly redneck sistah~~
Thats a big assumption to make on many levels.
Know what's funny? The more people express their hatred for Kenny, the more I appreciate him.

I can't say I understand why that makes you love him more, but thanks for not stopping me in expressing my distate for him.
Well, Clem is a child but yeah I don't think he's racist either.
You don't have to understand, I'm just putting it out there. And you're welcome, I guess?

I see very few people who have the same sentiment as you. I myself went through my ups and downs with Kenny.
Prove the las wrong then.

Still think the leopard print underwear is a shoo-in.
Same here.

Right cause saying something automatically confirms it, then by your logic Kenny was right when said Duck wasn't going to turn... oh wait.
He never actually got anyone killed, unlike some people...cough...

Yeah but Lee is a God so he's always right.
hehe, I'm such a bad influence. Don't be like me. WHY DO I DO THESE THINGS!
Clearly any kind of canon besides Robert Kirkman's is "laughable" to you.
What the fuck is your problem?
shrug
Keep doing what you do.

what did you say to him when choosing? I think you have yo tell him that "clem is like family" or something and he'll agree to go with you
