Theres a new game really similar to The Walking Dead...

edited January 2015 in The Walking Dead

Hey guys, i dont know if youve heard of this new game called 'Life Is Strange' its kind of a strange game (hence the title) with a sort of unclear storyline. (SPOILERS AHEAD) Pretty much its about a teenage girl who is kind of an outcast at her school, one day after art class at lunch she goes into the girls washroom and sees a Butterfly come in though the window, she goes behind the stalls to take a picture of it. When she does a boy walks into the washroom long story short he shoots this girl, then she suddenly wakes back up in art class. (She can time travel) Shes faced with different dialogue possibilities (like walking dead) and there choices have consequences. If she regrets these choices she can go back in time to change them. You can be a bitch to people or be really nice, its also episodic there will be five episodes.

Heres the trailer.

I did play it, its not the greatest game ever but its really nice to play to pass the time while waiting for Season 3, after playing im probably more eager for Season 3 because its so similar yet different.

  • There's already a thread for this in Telltale talk.

  • I've played this and it's actually really good

  • Like I said, I just can't get into this game, I've tried and seen play throughs, but I'm just not interested in it.

I saw a playthrough last time. I thought it was pretty good, definitely nice to see more gaming companies attempting this style of gameplay [and yay a female lead that isn't sexualized! ^^] What I did like about it was the whole rewind thing to alter decisions right there on the spot [If only Clem had this cool ability 'I can seeeee into the future and change history, eat my shorts walkers!'] and also how much freedom you get in walking around and intereacting with characters to inspecting objects, there was just so much detail on that part that I wish Telltale would do that for Season 3.

I am curious where Life is Strange's is heading storywise, I hope it's good.

  • Same.

  • Yeah it was good but very cheesy. Teenagers in real life don't say the phrases which are used in this game like 'awesome sauce' or 'retro' or whatever. The characters were also very stereotypical - high school jocks, bitchy/popular girl and nerd boy etc. Basically the characters you see in movies about high school. I really liked the time travel thing though . I wasn't bored while playing but the game could use a few more options when talking like the walking dead. I would like to see silence count as an answer and three more options, but then they'll be copying telltale, I guess. The episode was also about 3 hours long which is very satisfying.

  • Id just like to put this out there, im a teenager and i do say 'Awesome Sauce'

  • The entire point is that it's cheesy at the moment.

It's what highschool drama does. Cheesy to begin with, then shows its depth.

  • I'll watch a playthrough of it once all the episodes are released. The only games I really play anymore are for franchises I really like so any one that I hear might have a good story I just watch a playthrough of it from youtube.
