Will S3 adopt the same qualities as their other newer franchises?
Does anyone think there may be a chance that the 6 2+ hour long episodes per season and multiple protagonists that ttg has been incorporating into GOT and TFTBL are a sign of things to come for TWD season 3? Would you be in favor of such a change?
i personally would be delighted to see longer episodes, and an additional episode that isnt necessarily a dlc. as well as i see how ttg could make two completely different sets of people happy by keeping clem as a playable character, while at the same time introducing other protags for those of us who dont really want to play as only clem for another season.

As long as at least one of those multiple protagonists is Clementine I wouldn't mind.
400 days was multiple characters and although it was short I still liked this idea as you weren't just stuck with 1 character.
Well GOT is an ensemble thus has no clear protagonist but protagonists. I'd like to see new faces playing as Clementine has become stale. She is a great character but I don't want to play as her
Longer episodes and a 6 episode season would be nice to see, but I would prefer TWD stick to one playabale character. Whether it's Clementine or a new character I don't care, TWD has worked fine as a single protagonist game for 2 seasons and it would be foolish to change that.
yes I agree, however TTG did mention they wanted to approach s3 with a "new angle"
Yes, but that could simply mean an older Clementine. That "new angle" could mean a whole bunch of things.
Yes that is very true hehe, TTG love to give vague info to keep the anticipation high.
I don't see why they wouldn't incorporate new stuff...they did say they wanted to try a new angle. I think the episodes should be longer too. S1 episodes seemed like they ended naturally. S2 felt a little rushed. I believe they did have time limits on episodes; doing that resulted in some lack luster moments...Nick's off screen death, Sarah just being thrown out...Luke falling through the ice....Carlos getting shot....it seems like the deaths were occurring because Clementine had to end up just Jane and Kenny....a lot of the fighting didn't seem to organically flow from the storyline...like when everyone (aside from my Clementine and Kenny) sides with Arvo after the gun fight..even Jane...WTF? just so that they could put you in the mindset of 'v Kenny'
2h+ of gameplay? Hells yeah.
Multiple protagonists? Hells naw.
I personally would prefer more than one playable character for one reason. It allows the writers more freedom and can also lead to a more nuanced tale.
You know, you get one character's perspective on things and then you see another character's perspective on the same events? Or you can jump around different scenes that wouldn't be viewable if the 'single' point of view character wasn't present. It would also allow, if they for example have two camps, for a system of cause and effect if there was one playable character from each camp.
Anyhow, that's my reasoning. Just feel it allows for a more nuanced tale, gives more freedom to the writers and well . . . if things pan out well, you'll be able to get to know more than one character well. That said, the 'single' character point of view can work nicely too. It's just that you can only show scenes they're present for, plus there's the matter of being only able to really get inside one character's head. But again, one character perspectives are fine. Worked out well for Wolf, TWD S1 (and yes I would say S2, but I'm neglecting mentioning that for obvious reasons). Basically . . . imagine going through one of the HBO shows like Sopranos, The Wire etc. and only being able to see scenes that the main characters are present for. Tony in the case of The Sopranos, Nucky in Boardwalk. Even in shows that aren't serious like Supernatural. It wouldn't really be the same, would it, if you were viewing things through one character's eyes?
Regarding length, whatever length is right for the story they want to tell without it dragging. Though sure, I'd prefer longer episodes if it feels right. And so far, the longer episodes of GoT, Borderlands have felt right. (2.5 hours for Borderlands ep 1, 114 for GoT ep 1, 105 for GoT ep 2.)
PS: I would quickly like to touch on TWD S2 though when it comes to Nick with @Aerie88 mentioning it. It might not necessarily be a case of Nick's death happening off-screen because of time restraints. I mean, it's quite feasible for characters to die-off screen in shows or off the page in books. Martin's work on GoT makes good of this, I believe (and it allows the writers to play with 'giving false info' too). But getting back to Nick, that's one thing that 'giving multiple playable characters' could have solved. If Luke had been playable, for instance, or Nick . . . then we'd have been able to see his death because we weren't limited to what Clem experienced. Or heck, we could have seen how Luke got into Carver's place in episode 3, or maybe even saw what really happened between him and Kenny at episode 2's end.
yeah, I see what you're saying about if we got to play as Luke. but we wouldn't have gotten to see what happened to Nick then either b/c Luke doesn't find out about Nick until Jane tells him that she and Clem saw him out there and 'took care of him'. Those deaths (Luke, Sarah, Nick, Carlos) may be realistic, but it doesn't make for good story telling when there's supposed to be an emotional impact on the player
Ah right. Shows how much I've played Season 2, though I did enjoy it. Only gone through once as the episodes released. Thought Luke knew, but yeah . . . just sort of tweak what I said a bit.
Disagree about the storytelling or well, as it depends on a 'story to story' basis, I rather disagree that simply stating 'it's bad storytelling to have a death happen off-screen' if you're talking in general and not just about what happened in The Walking Dead S2. It's a matter of opinion when it comes to TWD S2. I don't think I ever really got attached to many of the characters in the game, but . . . then again, I'm not really someone that gets emotional. TWD S1's ending did get me though and I must admit that S2's ending did. Not that I cried, but . . . I could feel it slightly. I've been known a few quick comments like 'ah, you bastard', though . . . just I don't really get too 'involved'. Same with reading.
I meant that it's bad storytelling to have SO MANY wasted deaths, not just that it's bad storytelling to have an off-screen death
Sorry, my bad. I should have read what you said more carefully.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree when it comes to wasted deaths. Not that there's anything to disagree with anyway, as it's opinion based.
I hope not. The multi-PC angle might work for GAME OF THRONES, a story with a vast tapestry involving an entire royal house, but WALKING DEAD should remain a more intimate and personal experience for the player. S1's finale wouldn't have packed nearly as much punch if we kept switching to different character perspectives throughout the season.
What's with you? It's not enough you want all the games to be about Clem? you don't even want there to be a choice for people to play as someone else?
When did I say that? I was stating an opinion, not saying you have to agree.
I prefer shorter episodes with more meaningful choices.
And no to multiple protagonists. Not what the Walking Dead should be.
Shame on you @ABigBadWolf! How dare you have an opinion.
I'm a terrible person.
If shorter episodes would result in more meaningful choices, then I could support shorter episodes
I like No Time Left for this reason: The whole determinate characters coming, while being a shorter episode, made me feel more connected. It's not my favorite episodes, but that is definitely one of the pros.
which characters were determinant that came in? I don't remember
I mean like convincing Kenny, Christa and Omid, and Ben to come. I think an entire segment is different.
It's been ages though.
yeah, okay...yeah, I liked that too
Tales is going to be six episodes?
Well, GoT and Tales are clearly on a newer more updated engine, they will probably ad somethings from the quick times over like needing to wait before pressing a button instead of pressing it the moment you see it, and smoother animations
Tales from the Borderlands? No i think that's 5....Game of Thrones is 6 episodes
