Just read Fables 148... I am not impressed
First of all: the backstory. I understand why it needs to be implemented, but it took up most of the main story (which was only 16 pages) Willingham spent a little too long with all the big descriptions of how the sisters perished and how Snow/Rose's Mother managed to get out of it all. I guess I'm ranting cuz this backstory needed to be implemented in a previous issue.
Now the two bits of story set in the present: Lancelot's duel with Brandish is definitely coming to an end; the build-up from Flycatcher's words about how Lance will eventually die tells me that we can expect the demise of either one or both combatants in either the next or last issues.
Now for the part of the story I was dreading since I heard about it: Snow's nightmare was... not what I expected that's for sure.
Now she's flying off to Wolf Manor to kill Bigby (who is apparently going there to kill the Cubs...) Ok... In order to keep myself sane until issue 149 comes out, I'm going to say with confidence that Snow and Bigby are FINISHED!
Snow seems intent on killing Bigby, she will certainly do anything to ensure the Cubs' safety. But she hasn't seen Bigby in his Feral form yet... I'm gonna convince myself until proven otherwise that Bigby and Snow will NOT get their Happily Ever After... Instead Snow will kill Bigby in front of the Cubs and then suffer her own sorrow in doing so, what happens next is a mystery to me.
This issue goes on the idea that everything we knew about these characters (Snow and Rose especially) is wrong! There are no fairytales and happy endings, it's all a lie. Snow and Rose will suffer misery and regret from what they will inevitably have to do in order to survive.
But, this is all speculation on my part, and before anyone rants at my lack of hope for my favourite couple of all time. I'm saying all this so that I'm not stressed out until 149 gets released...
What did you think of issue 148. And more importantly, what do you think will happen to our beloved Snow White and the one and only Bigby Wolf?
Comments
I actually liked the backstory, it was pretty interesting. I see where Snow gets her personality from :P. But yeah, overall the issue seemed like a filler one.
And as far as whats gonna happen to Snow and Bigby, I have faith (hue) that they won't end up killing each other or be forced to kill one another. Sadly though, I have a bad feeling Snow will have to put Bigby down
Even if she puts him down, he can come back right... He is fated to outlive his children
I'm gonna so depressed (and pissed off) if Snow is forced to put Bigby down.
Just hoping that doesn't happen.
Well, there's only about 2 weeks left till Fables #149 is released, so we'll find out soon enough.
Hope #149 gives the story a big push towards its conclusion....
One thing my friend pointed out about Brandish surviving all this time is that when his time finally comes, it will be a lot more satisfying than if he died back in say issue 146...
But then again; Snow may not fight Bigby... Bigby may not even be near Wolf Manor!
He is fated to outlive his Cubs, so maybe if she kills him he'll just resurrect himself again :P (That being said I do expect Snow to cry if she does kill him)
Although CoolGuy, what do you think about this: When Snow gets there, Bigby is absent, but Snow has a vision of him sleeping with Rose. What could happen next I wonder? XD
My thoughts on the latest issues
Filler, lots and lots of filler
lol, nice gif
Well, if Snow has a vision like that, I'd guess she'll try to find Bigby anxiously. Maybe she might bump into Rose first before finding Bigby.
see?I told you :-/
Maybe we just figured out some of the panels in 149?! :O
Yep... Snow gonna kill her beloved over some nightmare, Willingham does know how to make me angry
After reading Fables 148
Uh....what...?
I'm still guaranteeing it ends happily.
I am no great writer, but I think the last few issues to the finale shouldn't be fillers. Give resolutions to the characters, not focus on backstories and move the plot along.
I'm trying to believe you...
