What's in a name?

If Nerissa is who she claims she is, wouldn't her name be Ariel? From what I gather Faith & Vivian did not have actually names from their original stories, opening them for created names. Idk what it means but it's something that I noticed.

    The Little Mermaid was only called Ariel in the Disney film :P

    She is only ever called The Little Mermaid in her original story, Nerissa is a name created for the character by TellTale :D
