Kenny vs Nate
Fight takes place in the presence of Clem and AJ. Naye has proven he cares just not the best influence. Kenny stubbornly wants to go north while Nate taunts him for being bulk headed and mocks him with insults of his own and wants to go back to Georgia. With them having hardly any food or water, out in the cold and no where to stay Kenny is the attacker. Same situation with Jane what would you do?
My decision: I would save Nate. People constantly talk about him being on Carver's level of evil when I personally think its ridiculous. He's definitely not in my top 6 most evil and he cared for Russell, a kid he knew for just an hour he would know Clem and AJ for longer than that.

Honestly, if you place anyone with Kenny I would always pick him. He's my favorite NPC.
What about Lee or Clem
Well, I really like Kenny so...Kenny.
A shamelessly biased answer.
I did say NPC. Obviously I would pick Lee and Clem over him. In terms of non playable characters(NPC) I would choose him.
I don't think anything Nate did was particularly out of line. He chased Wyatt and Eddie, two people who murdered Nate's friend. Then he killed an old married couple, who tried to murder him. The shit in the truck was just him messing around, in a Merle type way. Nate isn't perfectly sane, but he isn't bad either. Kenny, on the other hand, will try to kill you, or get you killed if you disagree with him, and if he gets the opportunity. You can be a complete dick to Nate the entire time you see him, and Nate will still save you, when Russel trips, but if you're Kenny's best friend the entire first two episodes, save his son multiple times, and decide to not kill Larry, Kenny will gladly watch you die in episode 3.
Even when Russell holds him point blank with a gun to his face Nate forgives him and even takes time to understand.
Exactly. Nate is the fucking coolest. One of my favorite characters of season 1.
Kenny. I honestly do not like Nate, and don't think he would be the "best influence" or whatever. But thats another thread entirely
Meh Jane is pretty bad imo. Kenny holds grudges and is overly stubborn. There are worse than Nate in the series
Kenny, Both aren't perfect and stuff but I don't think Nate as shown would be the "best figure" for Clem and AJ so easily Kenny for me.
I wouldn't say that as fact, more just opinion. I'm not a big fan of either but I would probably choose Jane over Nate still
Probably Kenny.
Nates an ex-bandit so I'm pretty sure his morality is low. Clementine x Nate just doesn't seem right at all, unless you're shaping Clem to be a savage.
Part of the reason I shot Kenny in my playthrough is because he attacked Jane. Jane's a woman, If Nate was overpowered by Kenny, it's on him, I'd stay out of it. However, If it was Nate who had the upper-hand and he ignored Clementines request to "Stop Fighting", I'd shoot him.
That was never proved and if Kenny "ignored your request to stop fighting" why wouldn't you shoot him?
I'd take my chances with Nate.
"Jane's a woman"
how is that relevant?
She instigated him. In this instance its back in forth and Kenny was the aggressor
He kills people and takes their stuff, how much more proof do you need?
Because Kenny & Clementine have a long history. There's no history with Nate in this made-up scenario of yours, I couldn't care less for him.
I....i still don't see what that has to do with her being a woman having any relevance...women and men are equal, her being a woman has nothing to do with anything. The situation wouldnt have been any different had Jane been a male either
It's relevant to my decision, that's how it's relevant.
a gender shouldnt decide your opinion on/will to care for somebody
Kenny. I know, or knew what to expect with him. Nate actually caring for people would ruin his character for me.
You sound like a goddamn feminist. Do you realize that you're taking my post out of context? Men are naturally stronger than women, but that's not the reason I intervened by shooting Kenny, as I already said.
Furthermore, I'm discussing the game, not gender inequality, so take that shit elsewhere.
I took it out of context, like you just said. thats no reason to get upset or aggressive. Wasnt trying to piss you off
I would still pick Kenny. Assuming that Nate wouldn't take advantage of Clementine's femininity, they could have fun together, but Kenny truly cared about Clem's wellbeing in S2....Clem still at an age where she needs a parental figure.
We don't know how Nate would feel about traveling with a preteen and an infant...
Nate is someone who I'm coming around to think would make an interesting addition to S3.
Wait, if it's the same situation with Nate taking the place of Jane, who hid AJ, how is it in the presence of Clem AND AJ?
But to answer the question, I'd go with Kenny. All of Season 2, I was on board with trying to get to Wellington and Nate is a little too unpredictable and I would not feel safe with him taking care of Clem and a baby.
There's not a thing anyone could type on the internet to upset me. Don't let my "aggressive" text-style fool you.
The two old people were already dead. One was shot and the other was on the verge of a heart attack. Would you pass up supplies you needed for two people who would die anyway. He put them out of their misery.
The two old people tried to kill Nate. Nate had more than enough reason to kill them. Once they're dead, would you just leave their stuff? Either way, Nate said that in a mocking tone, joking about Russel's past, showing to me that that was never his intention. He just wanted the threats dead.
Nice try, but I highly doubt he saw it that way. He would've killed and stole from them regardless (which I'm not arguing is a good or bad thing, just an uncharacteristic ally for Clem).
He cared for Russel. If he didn't, he wouldn't have saved Russel twice, even after Russel tried to shoot him. Not to mention, Nate cared for the unnamed person that Wyatt and Eddie killed.
That's your opinion. I think that he needed Russell. And why would he care about him when they only first met? Doesn't coincide with his personality, imo.
EDIT: Also, if he really cared for Russell, he wouldn't have killed those people when Russell determinately told him not to hurt them.
Kenny. I wouldn't trust Nate to have my back.
Interesting because Lee can steal from the car, help kill Larry and not bring her to Crawford when Clementine tells him to do something. Your logic is a little off in this regard because if someone told you not to do the hard thing in means of surviving would you?
Jane provoked the attack...did she honestly think she was going to take on Kenny alone? Jane's a woman and Kenny's a grown man...that was stupidity on her part to start a death match with someone twice your weight class
Nate is an opportunist...as long as the baby had some kind of advantage he may tolerate it...otherwise I don't seem him interested in rearing a child...but like i said, we don't know enough about Nate's pre and post apocalypse life....maybe he's softer than Roseanne's son on the inside
I think he'd have some fun and somewhat of a sift side. He could teach them what to do and they can bring him closer to the light seeing as he would have something to live for. He's not irredeemable
Why the hell did Nate need him? He cared about Russel because he saw that Russel was just a kid. In need of help. That's what I think anyways. You can't really say that it doesn't coincide with his personality, because total, we've seen him for about 18-20 minutes, and some of that was when he was thrown into a rage by the death of his friend. I think the reason Nate cared was because Russel was probably the first person that Nate had met in a long time that wasn't bad.
I don't think him killing the old people had anything to do with his opinions of Russel. He realized that the kid hated violence, but at the same time, those two old timers (possibly) wrongfully accused Nate of robbing them, and the old man may have had a concealed weapon. Nate didn't know. All he knew was that those racist old bastards were shooting at Nate and Russ until Nate and Russ had the upper hand. Then they begged, and said they wouldn't attack, if they were set free. Anybody would say that. Nate had no reason to trust them. So he chose not to.
Oh, he definitely has a soft side. If you give him the cold shoulder in the truck, Nate will apologize, and acknowledge his own dickishness.
That and if he was this marauder and bandit he could have just killed Russell right there and jacked his shit but he didn't. He gave him a ride, saved his life on two occasions (one determinate) and trusted him with his only gun. Even after being having his own gun being pointed at him he forgives him and moves on where as Kenny doesn't.
Nate is a big mystery. I wanna see so much more of him. Why can't Nate be a main character? That's so lame. He's the most interesting character of season 1, and we hardly see him at all.
