Asher's Manticore
At the very start of Episode 2, Asher is approached by the scorpion-like Manticore, and it threateningly hisses before being spat on by Asher and scurrying away.
According to GoTwiki; "Manticores are highly aggressive and extremely poisonous scorpion-like insects from the continent of Essos.[...] it's poison is highly sought after by assassins." Daenerys has also been a target of assassination by a warlock, who used a manticore.
Any theories on significance/owner of the manticore, and Asher's nonchalant reaction to it?

"Liberation" doesn't mean anything mystical. It's been 3 days since Daenerys' forces won the siege of Yunkai and removed the slave masters from power. This is all for naught, though, as the slave masters return once Daenerys marches on Meereen.
Oh right, I somehow managed forgot about that. coughDinofire will remember thatcough Scratching that off the list.
Hmmm...significance? Asher is a bad-ass. lol.
I think it's just to show that this is a new area with new creatures really. It sets the scene of a more arid land.
I guess it's to show how badass Asher is.
He just stares down one of the most deadly creatures in GoT and shoos it away while taking a piss.
It totally bows to him, I think there is more going on with him. Maybe like a warg king?
Asher status:
[ ]Spooked
[X]Unspooked
I have NO clue but what ev
Can u explain it
what i dont under stand how to open it up
Ooh, it'd be pretty interesting to have one of the PCs be a warg!
I figure it mainly just to show how tough minded Asher is supposed to be, as well as I guess just introduce the more desert type setting of Essos. Though it'd be sweet if in order to get a sellsword army, we have to assassinate someone and thats what it is foreshadowing. Probably reaching though xD
Guys, pls.
Is there a reason why manticores have a face on their tail?

Manitcore: "Ok totally going to kill this asshol......is he taking a piss ewww thats disgusting and ugh he just spat on me you know what Robert you are better than this let's just go home and call it a day"
I asked myself the same question. Kinda reminds me of the werewood trees.
Me 2
A secret assassination the manticore spent his life in training to perform only to piss himself and shy away because of Ash's smirk
Why the hell is there no option to make this manticore our pet. He could've become the most well-written character of the whole episode five.
maybe its the same manticore that tried to assassinate dany
If only she had the Asher smirk of death
it's a plot tool to imply how tough Asher is.
Pretty much. Asher's nonchalant reaction was supposed to show not only how tough he was, but also that he was desensitized to a place as rough as Essos.
Weirwood.
Hey thanks.
I have a theory, actually.
What if that Manticore wasn't actually trying to kill Asher, but it was going after Daenarys when she first met Ser Barristan Selmy.
