  • Better just end the series if it comes to that. This game's success is mostly, if not entirely, attributed to strong characters, like Clementine and Lee, and many others. If you strip that away it just become some zombie game, and we all know there are tons of alternatives that offer a better survival aspect. But this game was not built around that, walkers in my opinion are just a catalyst that brings out the worst or the best in people, something which Telltale did brilliantly.

There are people bashing Season 2 or Clementine, I personally love Season 2 as much as I loved Season 1. I am not saying they are perfect, true, there are flaws, but some take that to a whole other level, which is uncalled for. People always moan "Meh there is nothing unique about it, they ruined it" for most if not all sequels to any game. But, ironically, heavens forbid things change just a little that it's riot time. Like it or not Season 1 is succesful because it was not about Lee killing zombies and surviving, it was about sheltering, protecting Clementine and his ultimate sacrifice for her and her developing besdies him in their journey. I will repeat myself but if I just wanted to follow some survivors killing walkers day in day out and scavenging for supplies, I would not be here to be honest. So yes I loved Season 2 and Clementine is probably my favourite character of all times, this is the first time a game actually made me cry and genuinely care about a character.

    No Clem = No Deal!

But seriously, if Telltale decides to kill off Clementine, how would you guys want it to be?

  • Nate is probably the only interesting character Telltale has left in their arsenal of exploration. Following him more closely would be amazing. I'd love a story about following moral ambiguity in the ZA

  • ^This.

Season 1 is about Lee stumble upon a lilttle girl named Clementine. He tried his best taking care of this little girl the best he can. Season 2 is about Clementine's survival and her struggle to cope with new group of people that distrust her. Facing a more harsher world day by day, she needs to make the ultimate sacrifice and taking big responsibility in taking care of AJ. Season 3... well, I guess that we should wait for that to happen wouldn't we?

Season 1 is truly magical and memorable. Season 2, yes there are flaws, but still, it still remains a good continuity for Telltale's storyline. I would love to see Season 3 on how the writers handle it. Either it is going to have a shocker or just bland expectation.

this is the first time a game actually made me cry and genuinely care about a character.

  • I don't say I don't like him as a character, but I don't see him fare all that well in this type of game. He seems the more dangerous sort, he needs action. Probably a more action oriented type of game, in my opinion, would fit him better.

  • Thank you! :D

What I would personally like in Season 3 is someone who will be there for Clem even in future seasons. That might not perfectly fit in the general aim of the game, as messing our feelings is the intent, and that is generally done by killing a likeable character. We could have someone who shares her pain, someone who too went through a lot, who knows Clementine's pain but who is weaker than her psichologically and almost snaps. We can make him or her an antithesis to Clem though not necessarily evil. Even though Clem went though what she did, she still has kindness and humanity in her. That is the beacon for humanity, what defines us best, not Carver's regime as he thought. So we could make this character someone who is on the brink of renegating his humanity but is held back by Clem. Jane and Kenny were interesting, but Jane was not really evil, more like cold and loving in her way and Kenny still had humanity in him after all that happened, as can be seen in the endings in which he lives, though he was, expectedly, a bit stubborn and quick to get angry, which is to be expected. This would make an interesting "response" to Season 1, basically we keep a structure similar to Season 1, in which we take care of someone, but we change the viewpoint.

Hubs could also be brought back. They were a nice change of pace after the more intense scenes of the game. They would allow us to better grasp what happened and allow more character development. They would also be a good opportunity for character development. As besides, Obvious Lee is obvious, and we all love him.

Sorry for the wall of text and probably posting it in the wrong thread.

Last time i checked the game was called TWDG, not TWDC [C for clementine }. To me the TWD is a universe, with its own set of rules. I don't understand the Clementine obsession, i find her to be extremely dry but to each their own.

would probably be a rehash of season 1 though and Nate will take Lee's role.

Perfect Season for me would be Nate, a strong female like Lilly, and a target of the jokes, someone like Arvo. See that is the thing, i want to avoid is Rehashing the same shit over and over again.

  • I respect your opinion but please view the whole matter from another point of view.

The vast majority's (including me) favourite character is Clementine. She is the reason we liked the game so much and came back for more. She is one of the reason this game has been getting very good reviews and good advertising and as such a lot of money, it's probably Telltale's best selling title. Seeing as how it turned out to be a great success, they decided to go on with the series and gave us the 400 days DLC as a way to spice up Season 2 and to appease the fans. That is when we first see Nate. If Season 1 was a failure, there wouldn't have been any more DLCs, and in turn no more Nate.

So you can attribute his existence to Clementine.

Without Lee, Clementine wouldn't be where she is now. Season one, had a start and a end. Lee dies. Everyone loves Season one, why didn't they Finish Clementine's story in season two.

I'm not trying to say my way is right or anything. I feel like Clementine's story is done, she got five endings... Season two was so unbelievable it was like watching Quentin Tarantino film for the first time for me, for the first time. Was it a enjoyable experience, i think so to a point, did it have me constantly saying WTF GAME for plot holes/ln game logic/ story/logic.

    All the time.

  • Yes but Lee would not have been much either without Clementine either. He would have just been another survivor and we have plenty of those. Both seasons had some wtf moments, I won't deny that but overall they are a success.

Regarding the endings, they can't quite be called actual endings, more like turns of events. All of them have Clementine start anew, either in Wellington, by herself, with Kenny or with Jane, there is simply too much to go on forward from here to simply ignore it. I would rather call Season 2 just another chapter in her life and not the final one. Season 1 was similar to Season 2 (or rather the other way around) in a sense that they showed her get out of Savannah, but that is more or less it. It did not tie any loose ends.

  • Thinking about it more I am not so sure it may be the best of ideas as it would simply result in a character that is mostly a hybrid between Jane and Kenny, so ignore that. Though that part about her humanity still stands.

Then again, I suck at writing stories or creating characters so I will leave it to the people at Telltale.

  • Riot Telltale and force them to redo the episode where she dies.

  • Realistically I don't think a zombie outbreak would last long.
Considering that the police shot a man who was high as shit eating another dudes face.

And just by this forum, a lot of people are aware how to deal with the dead...

  • it is TTG Grave. If they want to end up like the dreamcast, or THQ. That is their fate. Mediocre writing, isn't going to fly next season especially with all these other companies taking a stab at the story pie money. I won't be buying season 3 at full price. I have no interest at this point in the story. They lost thirty dollars, i would of pre ordered it, if it was the same quality, or even just slightly worse than the first season, but they lost me in season 2 with their terrible writing. I'm sorry it was bad,Micheal Jackson wrote a song about it.

I'm sorry if i offended anyone who loves Season 2, but for ME. MY personal OPINION, is that Season 2 should of been thrown in the trash, and rewritten. I don't know what they were thinking, i think the biggest mistake IMO that they made, was how they treated Sarah. SERIOUSLY TTG. What was the point of saving her< just to watch her die, broken and alone ten minutes later.

  • I don't feel offended or anything but for me it's not mediocre writing (it's more that I would ever dream of creating), it's an obvious success even if it receives so much critique. Judging by the reviews, you can tell that it probably came close to Season 1 in revenue and even if it were just half of that, I can tell you that it is a LOT. Season 2 had its flaws yes but what I can't wrap my head around is how Season 1's flaws misteriously vanish from everyone's mind now that we have Season 2. The Walking Dead is probably their most profitable title, Season 2 including.

And regarding the fact that other companies attempt to follow this route, it was to be expected. But that does not mean it's going to jeopardize Telltale, there have been "WoW Killers" in the past and look at how WoW simply brushed them off and is still kicking strong, considering the age.

By the way, thanks for carrying in with those debates, it makes for a good way to pass time while waiting for future games :D

  • After Season 1's success, it opened many doors for Telltale as a company. They got to make TWAU, GOT, Tales from the borderlands, some weird upcoming minecraft game 0_0

Because of this, season 2 was treated like trash.
They knew people would buy the game because of the first season's success, but it ended up being a mess. The writers kept getting switched out for each episode, they all had different ideas of where the season should go and due to this the players received a nonsensical crap fest.

Of course we don't realise when playing it and some people genuinely love season 2, but I am on your side in this debate. If fans just keep accepting things like this as acceptable content then I hate to see what will become of season 3.
I didn't realise how laughable the story was until I thought back on it, and to me it only starts after episode 2. The first 2 eps were great, yeah there were some issues but nothing that season 1 also didn't have.
But episode 3 was the biggest let down, the St. John's were better villains then Carver. I feel they had a huge opportunity to make something memorable and great, especially with Michael Madsen doing the voice work. I just don't know how they got it wrong.
400 days characters were completely useless, which means Telltale lied when they said they'd make a big impact on season 2. maybe they originally had better plans for them but it wasn't accounted for.
Then the characters they did introduce, the cabin group, where basically just washed down into death plot devices after ep 2.
I'm still baffled about Jane's introduction into the story... Where does her sudden Clem love come from?

    ......Just a big ol' mess.
Needless to say I still replay it for laughs.
