The Walking Dead Season 5 finale reportedly has a runtime of 90 minutes, extending the typical 60-minute format by 30 minutes.

The news comes from EW writer Dalton Ross, who tweeted the information on Wednesday.

The episode will directed by executive producer Greg Nicotero. While little is known about the season finale’s plot so far, the extended running time seems to imply that its story will be pretty big.

Episodes aren't really 60 minutes long so it'll probably be 60 minutes WITHOUT commercials.

  • Maybe they will introduce Negan in the last episode

Negan's not coming until at least season 8

  • I don't think season 8, but maybe sometime in season 6. Maybe the show will just skip over the scavengers and just get to Negan

  • 2nd half of Season 6 is more likely.

  • This episode will probably be where the scavengers(Wolves?) Attack

  • Pretty much.

    Finale's description

"Daryl finds himself in trouble while out on a run. Meanwhile, in Alexandria, Rick and his group continue to feel like outsiders as danger lurks near the gates."

  • Won't hear me complaining about a longer episode, this sounds exciting, there hasn't been a 90 minute episode since the premiere of S2 I believe. And that danger does sound like The Scavengers, who I think are going to be called The Wolves in the show, since you had stuff like "Wolves were here," in Episode 9.

  • I hope they make up for the last two shit seasons.

  • I know when the series MAS*H ended, back in 1983, the final episode was two hours long.
It's regular episodes were only 30 minutes a piece.
Now I don't know anything, but could it be that TWD is gonna do an unexpected grand-finale?
I honestly hope that isn't the case.

  • TWD will never end. At least not in the next 10 years

  • TWD will be milked to hell and back. This show won't stop anytime soon, probably around 2020.

Even more than it already is.

  • AMC has already confirmed a Season 6.

  • Naw @Kenny/Lee i think they have done extended episodes for premieres and season finales before and besides we have alot of storyline to go through before we can even consider the idea of them doing a grand-finale

  • Didn't someone say this about the season premiere and it turned out still being 45 minutes?

Whatever, I hope this is true.

  • Pretty rad. Something really awesome is going to happen. Not sure what, I'm terrible at predicting stuff.

On a serious note: this is the first time we've gotten a 90 minute episode since the Season 2 premiere. I imagine they wouldn't just do it for nothing. There's gotta be a reason.

  • This series pilot episode was 90 minutes as well I believe. Wasn't it? I don't recall season 2 having any 90 minute episodes.

  • Both the series pilot and the Season 2 premiere were 90 minutes.

I remember Kirkmen said something about Glenn getting killed off while on a run. (while they were at the Alexandria Safe zone) but he changed it because he had just killed of a character...(in the comics)

  • no cmon maybe mid seasons on 7th

  • That's good news. Finale's should be that long, always.

  • Woah dude, That's something an Asshole would say....Are you an Asshole? (Sorry and jk, I just had to say that due to your Matthew Profile Pic :P)
