Becca could have replaced Arvo
Her and Shel assuming Carver lived, escaped and jumped the group later on. I think it would be more emotionally effective because we knew Shel and Becca plus a Clem and Becca rivalry would be interesting

"we knew Shel and Becca"?
This must be the 20 different playthroughs in you talking, speak for yourself. I only played the DLC twice (was forced to because my data got erased). Definitely didn't feel a character connection in my short time playing as Shel, or get anything from her 10 second cameo in S2 either.
Doesn't matter to me if it was the Russians or the entire 400 days group, tbh.
Well thats you and I think you misunderstood me. What I'm saying was that we had more of a background of Shel and Becca if they were used more appropriately in S2 we would have cared more
Still better than some random Russians.
Also I agree that we didn't know Shel or Becca that well, considering that they got just 20 minutes of screentime.
Well... at least I know that their characters had actually a lot of potential cough* M7123 cough* Thsl
(Still more relatable than some random Russians, tough.)
If you think random Russians are bad, wait until season 3, where they kill off the "main" antagonist in episode 3 (an antagonist that is nothing more than a lame Negan rip-off voiced by some famous actor), and replace him with some random Nazis.
At this point you could replace anything with anything in Season 2 and it'll be better.
Careful, you might get sued for leaking internal Season 3 plot information.
"uhh guys how about we blow all our budget on celebrity voice actors, that'll surely get us GOTY, r-right???"
Well we had nazis already in the game (Crawford) which oddly enough were substituted by zombies (Or Nazi Zombies if you will).
Originality
Oh I have information regarding the random antagonists of the finales for seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Season 4: Random North Koreans.
Season 5: Random Mexican drug dealers.
Season 6: Some random Brittish guy (Clementine will be alone when he shows up. She kills him by beating him to death with a bat)
Season 7: A group consisting of a Nazi, a Russian, a North Korean, a Mexican drug dealer and a Brit.
I've also been told that TTG plans on using 70% of the budget, for these seasons, on celebrity voice actors, 20% of it on their own "ambitions"... like items in F2P games, and 10% will actually be used for the game.
Imagine how terrible it would be if the 400 Days group WAS the russian group! We had to shoot all our playable characters
Good point, tought you didn't give a f*** about the characters in 400 Days, tough.
OFC things could had been very different if the Russians had been substituted by the group of 400 Days (Not necessarely but it certainly could).
It's not that I didn't care about them. I didn't care whether or not they appeared in Season 2
I like Becca/Shel, I'm kind of hoping they're part of Season 3
I don't know about replacing Arvo with Becca entirely (It was already kinda tough watching Kenny beat up on a teenage boy, having him beat up a teenage girl--he would've been killed before any fight with Jane could occur....probably after the first beatdown), but I think it could've been interesting if the Russians were instead people from Howes and 400 Days, but they couldn't do that b/c aside from Bonnie, everyone else is determinant
I understood perfectly what you were saying. Same thing could be said about caring for the Russians if they were "used more appropriately". The point I was making is that it doesn't matter to me if it were the 400 days cast or the Russians who got shot down because neither group was significant, as is.
The only possible reason (other than laziness/banking on bizarre Cold War-era tropes or Call of Duty) for using foreigners would be the language barrier. Although that seems to be a shortcut for actually trying to develop the bandit group.
I'd much rather have them just be English-speaking bandits, much like the child-killers who try to murder Clem back in Episode 1.
