Wellington: Good or Bad? Where's Christa?

edited March 2015 in The Walking Dead

When it came down to deciding on going to Wellington , I choose to stay with Kenny. Mainly because I don't know about Wellington enough.
Wellington could be good/safe like Alexandria SZ(As far as I know), or it could be bad/corrupt like Woodbury and Terminus. I don't know.. What do you guys think? If I was in Kenny's shoes I wouldn't send Clem to Wellington without knowing how it is on the inside first.

However I do feel like if you do decide to join Wellington, you'll see some familiar faces. Maybe Christa? Maybe Molly, I could see both Christa and Molly being there as close friends, just like Andrea and Michonne. Molly could have rescued Christa from that gang, like Michonne rescued Andrea. Oooh that should be the S2 dlc :o

Woodbury was safe. Nothing was wrong there. It was a shining light.

    Damn prison people.

  • I got a good vibe from Wellington. I look at it like this. A woman is guarding the front doors with a rifle (women are given jobs and a power of authority so no evil rapey town), they have a system and rules (people can't just be let in), got lines of communication (radios are a good sign), and enough supplies to help people that can't join (I think she said they're over-capacity with people, not low on supplies). I'll take my chances there, if it's a no go I got plenty of back-up saves hehe.

  • Ha yeah, it's just sketchy because it's the Walking Dead and there's always something crazy. You never know, there could be some kind of hidden baggage or a corrupt group inside that causes harm. There's always that "what if".

Also Molly was annoying and a one episode character

  • Agreed. I don't think there is one safe haven in TWD that doesn't have some dirty secrets, but maybe this place will at least have toilet paper.

  • Woodbury was safe indeed, but their leader was corrupt. The way The Govenor went about getting things done wasn't right.

  • I don't think telltale would just drop Christa, they kinda made it Clem's objective to find her. So we either find her alive or dead.

  • I'd like to believe that, for once, we might actually have a community that isn't hiding something and isn't run by some insane or evil person, but the possibility is always there. But based on the current information, I believe that Wellington is good, they have protection and are trying to take care of their own people, even if it means sending others away. But even when they do that, they give supplies to them, showing that a lack of supplies isn't an issue, but more likely overpopulation. And since they were willing to let Clem and AJ in, it shows that they are willing to take care of children and ensure their safety. I don't see any signs of it being a bad place, but then again, Woodbury didn't show anything mysterious either.

As for Christa, I like leaving her fate unknown. People can complain that it's bad or lazy writing, but it leaves her story open ended and always leaves the possibility of a return at some point. Frankly, I'm happy with her being unknown, I've even written her off as being dead, I never really cared all that much for her, even if she did take care of Clementine for 16 months. And Molly was a one time character, so she's not there.

  • What if someone inside gets bitten but hides it?

Little by little the population turns into walkers and it becomes a huge "dead zone" to call it that. Would be cool to have a change of scenery. We don't know how big it is, it may be small it may be huge, though I put my bet on huge, judging by the walls. You wooudn't need that kind of wall for a few houses. We could have the protagonist attempt to escape Wellington and it would offer a lot of occasions for hubs and action.

Yeah it seems good so far, especially how they were willing to give them care packages. It would make sense for it to be a safe haven because the last big community Clem experienced was corrupt. So it seems right for this one to ok, but the question is how long? How long until shit hits the fan? Huge bummer that they couldn't take Kenny in.

  • Telltale apparently decided that Christa will never appear again in the series due to having vanished in the woods after the bandit attack.

  • That's my only real concern, big places can easily fall due to one person getting bit or dying. But other than that, the place seems pretty safe and well run.

I stuck with Kenny too. It's not that I felt Wellington was unsafe, I just wasn't about to lose Kenny after having to lose Jane. And since Edith said Christa wasn't in Wellington I figured it wasn't worth staying. I think Wellington was a good place though, like Alexandria.

I would love for Christa to show up again, but she's not going to. I just would like for Clementine to reference her and Omid sometimes. As much as I love Lee, he gets way too much credit.

I've come to terms with Molly being a one episode character

  • It would be smart for them to take him in. The people inside could be soft due to not being in harm's way and being behind walls all this time. If that's the case, they could definitely use an experienced survivor like Kenny. Because if they get attacked and if they're indeed "soft", they'll look like a deer infront of headlights.

  • I am too. I'm in the minority that believes that Telltale is making a mistake cutting off all ties with Christa, as I believe she still has a story to tell.

But alas I doubt she will show up again, especially when Kenny's return caused enough controversy to probably have Telltale think twice about bringing back past characters in Season 3.

But yeah Molly re-appearing is highly unlikely, I just really liked her character.

  • yeah, i thought it would be smart too. An able-bodied male who can go on supply runs and fight walkers would be a great addition to the community...(until they realize Kenny only likes doing things his way)

Yeah unfortunately you may be right. Would have been cool as a DLC or something. But now that I think about it, I rather see the 400 days characters be the DLC. They most likely all split up after the Carver outbreak so that we could play as each individual again and see where they ended up. That would make for a great DLC imo.

I liked her character a lot too and was kinda sad when she left...I was kinda hoping that we'd have to choose either her or Ben to come with us cuz I was planning on cuttin Benny Boy loose.

  • I think Kenny would want to help out as much as possible because of how much gratitude he would have for them letting him in. He may be a hard ass at first but I think he would adjust. Especially for Clem and AJ.

  • I stayed with Kenny, I just had a feeling that Wellington wouldn't work out and part of me felt like going into Wellington was telling Kenny he was right about himself (That he wasn't a good person and stuff) so I wanted to prove him wrong, and as I said earlier ;just face it, Wellington isn't gonna last forever.

  • edited March 2015

Nah... That would be too soon of a return. Besides Christa wasn't there since day one like Kenny. Lee and Kenny were like brother and Lee asked Kenny to take care of Clem if anything happend to him(in my playthrough). I didn't feel that much of connection with Christa than I did with Kenny quite honestly.

  • Very true, no place in TWD lasts forevor. It's just what you gain while being there, new friends, new equipment new skills, better health, better rest and just a change of scenerey would help them mentally. Everything is temporary, you just have to make the most of it.

  • True but for me, I wasn't willing to give up one of my Favorite Season 1 Characters for a society that if you join will probably end in the beginning of Season 3 and if you watched the Walking Dead TV Show last night, remember how they were talking about that a Society would "make them weak", if you go into Wellington, that exactly might happen to Clem.

  • In the end though, it may be safe to assume they do routine checks on people. After all they went through all that effort building the wall to keep the walkers out, not to create an oversized coffin.

Maybe they don't accept new people because they can't keep track of everyone.

That's my only real concern, big places can easily fall due to one person getting bit or dying. But other than that, the place seems pretty safe and well run.

  • Right, I left with Kenny for that exact same reason. It wasn't worth losing him. And the whole thing about a place like Wellington making them weak is exactly how I feel too. I was explaining that earlier, I was talking about how smart it would have been if Wellington accepted Kenny so that they can use his survival experience to help their odds. Just like Alexandria using Rick and his group's survival experience to help their odds. It's smart.

  • Just because theres a woman at the gate, doesn't mean she is remotely in charge of anything. Whatever her name was, she had to call someone for authorization to let the children in.

It also doesn't mean it's not a 'rapey place' as you put it. Look at the show, when Beth was held at the Hospital there was a woman in charge, and all she did about the sexual assults there was turn a blind eye. To keep her 'soldiers' happy.

iMO and in every one of my playthroughs, i shot kenny and left jane. I wouldn't trust Anyone with Clem, dubiously safe place to stay or not. If there was an option to leave AJ there i would have in a heartbeat though.

  • Hey if your at the main gate with a gun in your hand that's gotta count for something. She could've just told Kenny and Clem to fuck off and no one would be the wiser. Edith was the one to make that call in the first place.

The hospital was a closed off place to the world, with only people going in and no one gets out so their dark secret could be kept. Wellington was a rumor from people and it was a place multiple groups were heading to as mentioned by Mathew. A rumor of that place with evil shit around it would spread as well.

I guess we'll see when S3 comes out, but not every place is filled with monsters.
