Wellington: Good or Bad? Where's Christa?

  • but i think it was more plausible for christa to return than for Kenny. I don't think it would've been too soon to reunite them b/c at that point they might be in the same area since Christa was going to Wellington too. Christa took care of clementine the longest and yet gets no kudos or screen time with her

  • It's sort of strange that they would except only Clem and Aj, but not the able bodied adult who could obviously put up a fight. Kenny can pull his weight, right? And Aj is a drain on their resources. It seems a little sketchy, but I believe it's a relatively safe place. I stayed with Kenny though, not taking any chances.

  • It could be that Wellington has sympathy for children, or because the kids could put up less of a fight against them. Seems like they don't wanna take any chances.

  • I'm conflicted on Wellington. I want to believe that its the Alexandria Safe Zone of the game, but at the same time if it was then Telltale wouldn't have made you living there completely determinant.

I think its a good society with a lot of people and resources but overall its just not strong enough to hold itself and will eventually crumble. Maybe we'll see it, maybe we won't. Frankly, I hope we do. I would really love S3 to have a group VS group war like Alexandra VS the Saviors or the prison VS Woodbury.

As for Christa, I couldn't care less what happened to her.

  • That's for sure. There are a lot of possibilities for things to go wrong.

I was thinking about that exactly. There's many different endings that leaves you in a different area: Wellington, near Wellington(Kenny), Carver base(Jane), or back south(Alone). With the 4 endings it seems like the 4 S3 playthroughs in the episodes are gonna be entirely different. I don't think it will last more than 2 episodes because eventually all playthroughs reaches the same point and from that point everything is equilavent; same place, characters, time etc. If all playthroughs don't reach an equivalent point and stay completely different throughout all episodes in the season(Which would be amazing), I fear the release dates will be terrifying. 4 diffent stories throughout the entirety of 1 episode is 4 episodes in 1 episode. So thats what makes me doubt how long they can keep that up. Damn I'm so curious on how it's gonna play out!

I hope they leave christa alone, Cant we just have a character gone that might be alive and just...leave it at that. We dont need them to kill her onscreen to remove her from the story Also Molly was annoying and a one episode character

  • Well if she was as cold and quiet to Clementine for those 16 months as she was in All That Remains, I can understand why Clem doesn't show more concern.

6 episodes? They were doing that for GoT right? That's cool. But yeah I didn't think it would be different for too long. I just wonder how all the playthroughs will end up at the same spot.

  • Yeah they are doing it with Thrones because there's more story to be told. If Telltale wants to make the endings mean something, then there will obviously be more story to told so a 6 episode season where the first episode brings everyone's playthrough to one spot isn't a bad idea.

  • That may be the sole reason why Christa's whereabouts will remain a mystery. I didn't feel much of a connection with Christa, I just wanted closure for Clem's sake. Clem and Christa werent on the best terms but they still cared for each other. I liked Omid alot more than Christa, had it been him alive instead Christa, he wouldn't be as "cold" as Christa. There would have been a much stronger bond, but yeah that's just a what if.

Well if she was as cold and quiet to Clementine for those 16 months as she was in All That Remains, I can understand why Clem doesn't show more concern.

  • Wow that's exciting. That makes me wonder if Kenny/Jane will make it past that point. God I can't wait.. Hopefully the 1st ep will be extra lengthy since we only get 1 ep of each ending. I have a feeling if you went to Wellington or Carver's Base, there'll be a group vs group war. I was thinking Wellington vs. Carver's base, but they might be too far apart.

Oh yea without a doubt Wellington is packed with goods. The fact that they give care packages to the people they reject says alot about them. I think the main reason they do that is so the rejects don't get pissed and come back with a vengeance.

I stayed with the guy who I trusted the most, and I'm happy with my ending, I think Wellington will turn out good, but this IS the TWD and it's either destined to crumble or turn out to be a place ran and controlled by a very corrupt and evil dictator.

  • if no one knows about Wellington to know if its safe then they can't know anything but rumors either. There have been rumors of lost civilizations IRL for millenia, doesn't mean they're true, or untrue. Just means someone heard something and spread the tale to others.

You can call it cold hearted if you like, i call it pragmatic. It's a video game, obviously i wouldn't abandon a baby IRL. But in this Apocolyptic Zombie infested world, where i myself am an 11 yr old, a baby (who i have no food, shelter or comforts to offer) is nothing but a liability. If i could have refused him in the beginning i would have. If i could have left him and Kenny and went off on my own i would have. If i could find him a safe place to stay i would.

Caring for AJ was something that i had no choice but to accept. It was one of the things i most disliked about season 2 of TWD, being forced to accept responsibility for this child that is none of my business, and caused every adult around me to turn into frikken idiots.

  • How long did she last her first time out on her own before running into the cute puppy? Half a day tops? Her being alone is either a death sentence or an extreme example of putting believability in the trash can. The alone ending (with or without the second child) is as fairytale-ish as could ever be expected from a story (exaggeration, obviously, but it is horrendously bad).

I'm quite sure Wellington is safe, at least for the moment, for several reasons:

    • We don't know when it has been built, but it's probably standing since the beginning of season 2 at least as Christa heard about it, and it's still here at the end of season, that proves they are good to protect themselves and lead a community.

    • The fact that Christa and Kenny both heard about it shows it has a good reputation. Of course they could be wrong, but if it was bad some people would have escaped and tell others not to go. They are in the area, so they probably would have met one of the people running away.

    • People who lead Wellington seem to be good people, as they give a bag of food, water and medicine to every stranger who is coming, when they could just explain them they can't take them in because of overcapacity and keep their things for themselves.

    • They finally accept the kids to enter even if there is already so many people, which shows that they take care about people who most need it and that they can be flexible about the rules

    • The guard gives a second bag if Clem and AJ go with Kenny, invite them to try back in a few months and wish them good luck, showing that she cares about them and that the leaders are not people who could punish her for disobey by giving one more bag (I don't think she would do that if there was a risk for her).

So yes, I think Wellington is definitely a good place !

Of course it won't last forever, but for the moment it's the best chance Clem and AJ have. Kenny deeply wants to protect them, that's all what matters for him now, and he knows they are not safe ouside with him. I really don't think he could hurt them, but he can't protect them against the cold winter and the lack of water and food. The bags of food will help but just for a while, and we don't know if they content baby food, which is very difficult to find ouside. Wellington probably have food for babies.

Besides, Kenny, AJ and Clem could be attacked by bandits or zombies, and if they are too numerous Kenny won't be able to protect them, even with Clem's help. Outside it's just a matter of time for one of them to die. Kenny himself won't last forever. He knows all that and that's why he insists so much for Clem and AJ to go to Wellington, he wants them to be safe above all. He's really sad to leave them but will never be in peace if they are not in a safe place. I think if we stay, he feels as relieved and happy than he feels sad, because for once he knows he managed to protect people he loves.

Of course Wellington will fall one day, but it will probably stand until spring is coming. Maybe Clem and AJ will even stay a few years before that happens. But the day it will fall, cold weather can be gone, AJ will be older and will be able to walk, talk and eat adult food, so Clem and him have a chance outside.

Wellington isn't gonna last after the 1st episode if they plan on making all playthroughs meet at ep 2. So, the chances of them being there for a few years is unlikely. Kenny, AJ and Clem being attacked by bandits and zombiers is always a possibility but it is something they have faced before numerous times and always conquered, Kenny isn't disabled he can do alot of protecting. Besides, bandits are mostly going to be drawn to Wellington rather than a man with 2 kids. Also about the baby food, they can easily make it themselves, just like Rick did for Judith. Wellington may be stocked heavily but it's also a huge target for other groups and communities.

  • If they plan on making all playthroughs meet at ep 2, Kenny and Jane are not gonna last either. And they might make everybody end in Wellington or Howes at ep 2. It would be interesting for the developers to put us in a community situation, as S1 and S2 were about groups. I think they could use Wellington. Kenny is very good at protecting but he was always helped by other characters before. Our group was more numerous against the Russians and against the bandits of S1. Even the best of protectors can't do anything alone against 5 adults with guns. Even if he tries to shoot them all, one of them can take AJ or Clem in hostage. Even if nobody attack them, they can die because of the cold, or the baby could cry and attract a lot of zombies. It's just my opinion, but I really think Wellington is safer for the moment, especially for the baby.

  • In regards to Wellington, anything goes, but from what I gather from playthroughs, it seems alright, but of course my ending is Howe's with Jane and the family, hoping to form another group and probably restarting one of the only safe human settlements. If there are others with good people and whom have not been overrun by the dead, then by all means let me know.

Chirsta...is my question I ask time and again, as with the end of the first season wondering whom the figures on the hillside were and the safety of little Clementine. I hold on to my faith that she survived those bandits at the beginning of Season 2, and in the upcoming season, reunite with Clem and find a way to make a living (with whatever members in the group).

  • Wellington probably already has a lot of people with survival experience. The whole reason they're over populated is because they brought in a bunch of people from the road. When Kenny mentioned how much they had been through to get there, Edith responded with something like "other people have gone through a lot as well.... people who got here before you did."

  • Kenny and Jane could make it past the 1st ep even though they're determinant. It's just like the Carley/Doug situation. Kenny, Clem and AJ's chances of dying due to the cold weather is almost 0, i'm pretty sure Kenny and Clem are more than capable of finding shelter. Besides I can't see Telltale killing off any of em by being too cold, and I doubt there'll be another frozen lake death. The cold will work to their advantage because walkers are real slow in the cold and most of em freeze due to lack of blood. Wellington, without a doubt, is safe inside. It's also very appealing to bandits, groups, etc. Most likely Wellington will go to war against another community. Once that community breaks in and a huge gun fight breaks out, every one's life is in severe danger. No matter who wins the war, Wellington would get overrun by walkers due to all the noise that was going on during the war. Keep in mind "What keeps them out, also keeps you in...".

  • I think Kenny is going to die anyway. He's here since 2 seasons and his character has been fully developed, I don't see what they can do to add something to his character now. Second season is really focusing on him, and at the end I had the feeling that his story was over. He's unable to join another group, and seeing him, Clem and AJ just together is nice but it can't last many episodes. Plus he talks about wishing to die several times and he's determinant. So I think he's done. Not that I want to, he's my favorite character, but I would be very surprised if he survives more than two episodes of S3... He will probably be killed by trying to protect Clem or AJ. I just hope he doesn't have a horrible or ridiculous death...
If that happens Clem and AJ are alone, and then the best option is to go to Wellington.
As for Jane I don't know, she's an interesting character, she has her flaws but she's young and wants to change so maybe they will keep her.
And for Christa, I hope we will know what happened to her, but she's not in Wellington for the moment (Clem can ask Edith). I think Lily could be in however.
