I haven't seen anyone mention this, but could the fact that Luke had his leg in the water for a long time factor into why he died first? His dialog begins to sound more and more shaky the long his leg stayed in the water. Could hypothermia have crept in while his leg was submerged, and him falling completely in sealed the deal? If this were the case, he could have died even if he was pulled out and take to a fire. Bonnie and Clem weren't in the water as long as Luke "technically" (counting Luke's time from when his leg fell in to when he actually died), so that could be why they had a better chance at survival. I'm not a medical major, but that's how I see it. Is anybody in the forums a medical major and can confirm/deny this?
Anything that goes into your lungs that isn't air is bad for your lungs...

No need to justify using weed, I ain't judging. Just saying that it's bad for lungs because it is.

I've been wondering about this as well, I'm not sure if this is just me making this up but surely if Bonnie had been a smoker then her lungs wouldn't have been as healthy as Luke's who, as far as I'm aware, didn't smoke. Usually when you smoke your airways can become affected thus meaning she would have been less likely to survive under the water because she needed more oxygen unlike Luke who would have been healthier in that.
But I might be wrong, I thought I remembered learning something about that in class once when the teachers were trying to put us off smoking!
Well, Luke did tell Clem it was ok after it cracked and she froze in fear. I took it as Luke seeing the ice be getting her to not stop and make her way across.
Well, Luke kinda sacrifices himself to save Clementine. He's fighting off walkers underwater which is going to cause any one to drown quickl… morey. We don't see Bonnie fighting off walkers so she's able to hold her breath longer. It's not that unexplainable
What's bad writing isn't that Luke died the way he did...it's that Clementine doesn't even warn Luke that the ice is cracking when she clearly saw it was cracking underneath her

I have been asking myself the same question for 6 months.
It's possible that Bonnie is really good at holding her breath, maybe she had s… morewimming lessons while Luke didn't. But Bonnie did smoke and do drugs so her lungs wouldn't be in the best shape meaning she should have drowned. In addition to that she came out of the same hole Clementine did which means she had to swim past Luke to get out. She must have been like, "Oh hey Luke, oh you drowned? How sad, I'm gonna get out and blame it all on Clementine when I could have helped you out." Nice going Bonnie.
There is also the fact that Luke was panicking like no tomorrow. He let go of his breath when Clementine was smashing the ice and if you leave it long enough you can see him float down to the bottom, showing that he died. But here's the part that makes me really annoyed. Luke died at 36 seconds on the cover option, Bonnie gets out at 56 seconds! There is no way on hell that she laste… [view original content]
We all make mistakes some times. Maybe there was a hill or something the rest of the people could see over and saw it was a river, and Clementine couldn't because she's shorter.
Dude, I know it's hard for you to accept, I wish it was a river too, but it's a friggin lake. It is a lake, the game calls it a lake and nothing else. No explaination on the protagonist being a shortie is going to cover up that is a lake.

It's one of them rare "lake rivers" that you see only out in the wild. Although mostly docile, these aquatic bodies of water feed off of unsuspecting mammals that tend to cross it for safety and sustenance. A camouflage is created out of hills to disguise itself when prey draws near just like it's related cousin the "puddle waterfall". Nature is indeed a beautiful thing.

Hmmm so by that argument, I wouldn't have good lung capacity either.
I suffer from Bronchecatisis and Emphysema and on home oxygen sixteen hours a day.
Tell you what though. I can hold my breath for minutes at a time.
I have to during Physio. My point is, just because someone has bad lungs, doesn't mean they can't hold their breath.
Oh and it wasn't through smoking either, before anyone says that. Mine is genetic.
Good job we have the NHS. That's all I can say.
Bonnie was smoking...
Last time I checked, that didn't equal good lung capacity.
Luke was probably a huge stoner though.
"Woaaaaaah. Art histooooory, maaaaan".
Well, in my playthrough, she's dead. I let sorry ass drown and never looked back. So, they're both dead. But I was saddened by Lukes demise, rest in peace brother, you will be missed.
But we're putting it in the context of why Bonnie would survive longer than Luke.
Also if you're doing physio then you're lungs are going to increase in capacity over time.
I have asthma so also have shitty capacity. But I stopped doing any lung expansion exercises when I was 12.
let's just say that I wouldn't be the Bonnie in that situation...

Luke was in the water for longer than Clementine and Bonnie should have died in this part but she didn't because.....

Because nobody will miss them... right?
eheheheh
At most he would've probably gotten gangrene/frost bite so the leg would have probably needed to be amputated.
But it doesn't effect major organs.
I can't handle all this realism that Telltale insists on throwing upon me haha.
So i take it you got Evil Bonnie

The main questions we need to know are:
You actually CAN kill Bonnie.
Man, you made my sadistic joke about Squishy Cthulhu being a serial killer preying on drug users in the street very dark.
Nobody knows where the bodies are buried...
Except Squishy Cthulhu...
At first I thought the thread was going to be about how Clementine survived her fall into the river at the beginning of the Season...
Bonnie death
She doesn't have to aim for the kill...just a leg shot would do. That's the same thing I thought when I shot Kenny.
It is a river. You can't see that because the picture is parallel with the ground.
Oh how I wish it was, but...
It's a lake.
And the characters in the game can't be wrong? They are also parallel with the ground.
It came right from the Clementine's mouth, it's a lake.

Yes it does. It's not as bad as tar from cigarettes but it still affects your lungs in a negative way.

I can imagine hearing that on the discovery channel XD
Yeah I guess so, I know she was just getting off of it in 400 days so I'm not sure?
I have both I made another just so I can hopefully kill her. My first play through she drown.

Smoking anything is bad for your lungs

he told he it was ok to reassure her, but that doesn't mean that he heard/knew the ice was cracking. regardless, she still could've warned him
Yah but driving down the free way with the window open is just as worse
Are you driving in a dust filled tornado?
I run six miles a day, and stay medicated while doing it. Can you do that? Have you ever heard of a vaporizer? Its 2015 learn the game.
George... dafuq?
