Tonight's episode! Pete vs Rick! What are your thoughts?

edited March 2015 in The Walking Dead

That fight between Rick and Pete was hellacious!
Rick offered to protect her, she accepted.
And then Pete attacks Rick, with the intent of killing him.

I'm not surprised that Rick almost killed Pete.
Rick has basically been living in a warzone, since the beginning.
And because of what he has lost, and the people he's had to kill, he more than likely is suffering from PTSD.

I spoke with a Vietnam veteran, and he told me that when it came to confrontation, he usually backed down.
He said because of how he was trained, and the fact that he was in combat, that he was afraid that of he fought someone; that he might accidentally kill them and not realize it until it was to late.
And given that soldiers are basically trained killers, no disrespect intended I'm just staying a basic fact, that was easy for me to believe.

I personally, cannot fault Rick for what he did.
He tried to settle things firmly yet peacefully, and Pete attacked him, and it was pretty obvious that Pete was going to kill him.
And Rick tried to talk to that woman-leader about the situation, but she wanted to bury her head in the sand and do nothing.
So basically Rick is the only one that had the backbone to stand up to that jerk.

And Jennifer tried to save Rick, and Pete smacked her.
That should tell everyone what type of monster Pete is.
I don't fault Rick one bit for what he did.
Plus Rick knows what it takes to survive.

Carol was behind him all the way, in fact, she seemed to look upon him with pride in that moment.
And I'm sure if he'd been there, Daryl would've too.
And since I mentioned Daryl, I can't wait to see Daryl get into a brawl with someone, as I'm curious to see how he would handle himself in a fistfight.

Comments

  • I agreed with everything Rick was doing and what he was saying right up until he pulled the gun on everyone. That scene pretty much played out exactly like it did in the comics, and despite my prior knowledge, it was still a pretty tense moment for me. Michonne did the right thing by knocking him out, he wants to make a point, I get it, but you don't do it when pointing a gun at everyone.

  • Oh so no spoiler huh? -.-'

you spoiled it for me. thanks.

As someone who has been in combat, i understand those feelings especially when i first came back to the states. It was really bad for a while. You have to be extremely careful coming back or you could kill someone. People will provoke you, just by looking at you. I had Kenny PTSD bad. Real bad.

    Tag this as spoiler

change title because thats a huge spoiler

  • Pete vs Rick isnt a huge spoiler to be honest, its not like saying someone name and death in the title which would be a bit much, it was kind of insuated this would happen in last weeks episode. Especially on aired content, I just avoid anything walking dead related until I've seen the episode.

Interesting that you mention Kenny as having PTSD.
I've often said the same thing.
Having been around combat veterans for so long, it's pretty easy for me to recognize.

And as for veterans who have PTSD, it really does anger me that the Government almost outright refuses to help them.
When it comes to these guys getting their benefits, the Government makes these guys have to jump through so many hoops to get their benefits, that these could end up dying before the Government has to pay for them.

I don't remember who said it, but whoever said was truly wise when they said: "If the leaders of two countries really have a problem, instead of sending others to do their fighting for them in an all-out war, they should put on boxing gloves, step into the ring, and fight it out themselves."

  • No spoilers should be present in the title.

  • And there's still people saying that America is such a great country. Doesn't sound that way to me.
