The Walking Dead: "Conquer" My Review of the Finale to The Best TWD Season Yet.
The Walking Dead Season finale... Oh Where can I begin..? Ah yes, Lets start with uncontrolable sobbing. Everything just went so UNBELIEVABLY WRONG in the Last few minutes... I'm Glad Morgan's Back, I really am. But... AHHHH!!! I... I'ma be here a while.
Morgan's Return:
Okay, So I've wanted this more than anything in the series at this point, But to see Morgan go all Donataelo (TMNT) On The Wolves made me crave it even more. Morgan has always been one of My Favorites, and It was a shame to see him go in the comics, But I just love his character, and I hope he doesn't die too early on.
Daryl and Aaron's Friendship:
It made me wonder if Daryl cared about anyone other than Maggie, Carol, Rick, Carl, Glenn, and Micchonne, But His Preformance with Aaron really sealed it for me, Aaron is just such a special character for me. and To see Daryl care about him that much, to risk his own life, Made me very thrilled that Daryl was opening up.
The Wolves: EDITED
So, I am absolutely in Love with the Scavengers/Saviors in the comics, Who are who i compare the wolves to. They were Excellent Foes, and brought us closer to Negan's story, One of my favorites, They're such Brilliant enemies, and Seeing Daryl and Aaron arrived at the Wolves base frightened me, They're masterminds, Evil Geniuses if I will, and That trap made me know it's going down, The Scavengers attack Alexandria in the Comics and attract a horde of walkers to it and they start fuckin' shit up, and I was absolutely amazed at that entire Comic story arc, so I'm exited to see where scott takes this, But I am VERY exited!
Glenn's Mercy:
Yeah, Glenn should have at least shot him in the Knee, I mean, it's fair, but I have never felt anything as Intense as that fight since The Prison. I Like Nickolas, His character is Interesting, and I wonder how They will make Him Evolve.
Gabriel:
Oh... He is Most Definetly still on my shit list. I hate him, He is annoying, He is whiny, He is horrible to group, and NOW he asks for Reconsiliation? Maggie shoulda dropped his ass. I hope He Becomes less of a wimp, or I'm done with him, But I will say, His Walker Kill with the Rope was awesome.
Rick:
Now We're Moving Into Heavy Territory. Rick IMHO has gone... Bat shit crazy. He is absolutely insane, and should be Locked up, His Massacre of The Termites was one thing, But This whole, "You are weak" Thing he's got going, Reminds me a little too much of shane.
Pete and Reg:
Tears were shed here, Reg was a good guy, I had hoped there would be more for him, and what they did to him... Was Unbearable, Deanna's sudden Change of heart Pissed me off to, But what made me SO mad, Is how WASTED Pete's death was, In the comics, A Completely satisfying thing... But now it made me mad, How he didn't Hesitate. and Morgan standing there... Seeing his old buddy for the first time, Pulling a stunt like THAT, I am very Dissapointed in Robert Kirkman, and Hopefully this Little Trend of Waiting to the last second to Unleash hell, ends in the next season. But, they were very good deaths to close the season with, Just wish they were done better.
Overall, this was the Best Season of TWD Yet, even though it was HIGHLY hated by a lot of fans, it was Absolute Genius, and the "No Way Out" Storyline will be even better. (Asuming it's next from Scott Gimple's Message to Chris.) I will miss Bob, Beth, Tyreese, Bob, Ricks Beard, and Reg, But I will Keep them In my Memory by doing one thing, Not Rioting if Daryl dies... seriously, What real fans would just bail over a death that didn't happen in the comic?! It's a like A Girl who says she's a Pokemon fan, But Only Likes Shitty Pikachu. Wtf?!
But Yeah, Rest in Peace guys, and I hope Next season'll be even Better!
"My Grandfather said He was dead the moment he started fighting. Every morning he told himself, "Rest in peace, Now go to war." and That's how we Live, We're dead until this is over, We're still the same people, But we're dead, That's what it takes, But we'll be fine, Because this is How we survive, We are The Walking Dead." - Rick Grimes, "Them"
Also! I loved The Fact Abraham Forgives Eugene now, very powerful to me, Just can't wait to see what's next.
Comments
I just about agree with everything except for what you said about Rick. I think he's as stable as he's ever been and I love where he's at right now.
Several episodes ago:
"We'll just take this place."
Season finale:
"We can survive. I'll show you how."
I think that quote was pretty powerful. Instead of killing all the people of Alexandria because they're weak, he decides to prop them up, and not give up on them. He's putting his faith in these people. I also personally really liked that he didn't hesitate to kill Pete. That's who he is now. He's willing to plunge himself into the filth to keep his family safe. Keep in mind that he waited for Deanna's go-ahead to kill Pete.
But I do agree that this season has been terrific! After a couple weak couple of seasons, this one was excellent.
Thank god someone sees how amazing this season is! But I just think Rick has been kinda going shane, WITH the exception of his new speech, But ever since Terminus, Rick has gone from Sane, To Shane, I mean, his speech on "Try" freaked me out, His "We are the walking dead" speech, while amazing, was stupid as hell to say to a bunch of scared people. I love rick's character, and He is really great, But I feel that, as in the comics, Rick isn't gonna be happy and normal again after the events of Negan, He became so happy after that, He said Andrea was ricks mom now, and He even smiled, Like, A LOT. So I hope rick gets okay soon.
"So, I am absolutely in Love with the Wolves in the comics, They were Excellent Foes, and Introduced Negan,"
Wait, do you think the wolves are the saviours from the comic?
If so they are the scavengers from the comic (led by Derek) not the saviours.
i'm sorry what? the wolves don't exist in the comics, there was just a random group who attacked the safe zone and they only appeared for a few issues and they did not introduce negan
i seriously can't tell if you are being sarcastic here or something they didn't plan to attract the horde and they didn't take down alexandria, the horde came because of the shoot out between the two groups not because they planned to attract them over
The first half of season 5 felt like ages ago...
My favorite quote overall from the season was the none other than the "We are the walking dead" speech, just because it had so much emotion to it, and it was kind of dark. But honestly, this season was pretty intense. I've felt a lot more hate towards characters than I ever felt.
Yeah, I know the wolves are saviors, But I compare them to each other, they're the same group, different name.
Or scavengers sorry
I know, I meant I loved who the wolves are supposed to be in the comics, and I mean they brought us closed to him,
I never said they planned it, and shit, that's my post with mistakes isn't it? I fixed it, The scavengers didn't plan it, I know, But it was still cool, they didn't take it down, I know that too, But they destroyed a lot of shit, and it is very late, and My mind is messed up, so I wasn't thinking very well.
Me too
Hey everyone, Sorry bout the error with what I mean on my thoughts with the wolves, I am stressed as fuck and I can't seem to think. XD I'll fix that.
Sorry for confusion, i'm just tired and I've had two hours of sleep, and I'm still busy, so.
Fixed it! Sorry, I'm making an Animated series, and working on My Interactive story, and I am operating on 2-3 hours of sleep, Add my ongoing depression to that mixture and you've got a walking talking pile of dicks. Maybe this night will go smooth... Dolphin smooth. XD
Yeah I have had a lot of issues with this show over the years but I thought this season was great. Really with the exception of the Beth story line, I thought this season was amazing from beginning to end. For the most part, I felt the story was always moving forward with every episode and they (almost) stopped with the solo episodes where they only focused on one or two characters (something I absolutely hate).
Also, it sounds like you've read all the comics, so maybe the Pete thing really is rushed like you said, because I haven't read the comics and I don't have that comparison to go by.
Great season.Season 1 and 5 are my favourites.The finale gets a 9.8/10 from me.
It was Kind of Rushed, Pete's death wasn't anything special in the Comics either to me, But it sure as hell wasn't no 3 seconds to spare shit. It felt rewarding.
Yeah, I loved Season 1 as well, I have to say though, I hated Season 2 and I kinda hate 4, I saw a lot of the things from season 1 and 3 being used this season, and I LOVED that.
Ok, so after watching the encore and taking a night to sleep on it, I realize I actually liked the finale a lot more than I thought did.
what are you talking about Pete literally had like the exact same death in the comics
I know, It just feels weird in the show. It doesn't feel the same.
you have to remember that a large portion of the show's audience, guys and girls alike, do not read the comics and are not aware that Daryl Dixon was created for Norman Reedus specifically and does not appear in the comics
But how is Father Gabriel on your sh*t list, but Nicholas is not? Gabriel may have locked out his congregation and tried to Judas the group that saved him, but Gabriel hasn't tried to intentionally kill anyone. Unlike Nicky who tried to kill Glenn and got Noah killed (along with four other unnamed Alexandrians with Aiden's help).
But I must agree, I loved the scenes with Morgan, but I'm not sure about his new "all life is precious" philosophy. He obviously hasn't gone through the same type of torment that Rick and friends have experienced...I think if he went through what the group has been through that he wouldn't be so pacifistic. I mean, Morgan's not afraid to defend himself from harm, but he didn't kill his two assailants...he even made sure that he left them somewhere safe....i think this could turn out bad for Morgan...we see what happens to people who still have a moral compass...but I think that Morgan will be a good presence around Rick. Rick has no faith in humanity left and is about to teach the Alexandrians his way of thinking...Rick needs some counsel from someone like Morgan to keep him level-headed....i'm really curious to learn how Morgan came to his new world view because I don't see how anyone could have such a positive transformation after witnessing all the kinda of things that the apocalypse has reaped upon civilization.
Now, with Reg...why would he attempt to approach a raving drunk man wielding a katana? A sword is still a weapon. If Pete brandished a gun, he wouldn't dare approach him in fear of getting shot...why wouldn't Reg fear getting sliced in some way? You get him to drop the weapon before you approach someone like that...
They need to do something with Sasha...I'm not really connecting her mental disarray....the actor's performance is great, but I'm just having a hard time getting emotionally invested in Sasha. Now, I'd be sad to see her go simply because she's been on the show so long that she's part of the core group and it's always bittersweet to lose core group members, regardless of how much development they received...I hope season 6 shows us a side of Sasha that I can want to care about.
Back to Father Gabriel...I'm definitely in the small minority, but even after Gabe's betrayal and stupidity of leaving the gate opened...and despite his whining, I actually like Father Gabriel. I do not condone his actions, but I think his character is interesting and hope they develop him into a capable and valuable asset to the community
I agree with everything you just said. You fabulous genius. Lol, except for one thing, Nickolas isn't on my shit List because I feel He was scared, He just wanted to run, and I feel he regrets it. Gabriel however, Is pissing me off, a lot. This whole, "Word of god" Bullshit is pissing me off, He yelled at Sasha for being horrible, I mean, she's lost WAY fucking more than him, and I never Liked him and his Religous BS in the first place. I feel bad for Sasha, I do. was I routing for a walker to eat her? Hell yes I was, But I still feel bad for her. He ratted out the whole group, Killed 40+ people in his Congregation, and Then, Just when He has a Chance to die, He decides to stop being a pissant, and Kill the walker. It was an amazing kill, Yes. But It's still angering, He'd better make a damn good change in season 6.
and Morgan has lost a lot more than Rick, Family wise. He was out there, On His Own, No group, He let his dead wife kill his son, and He's kinda bat-shit crazy in season 3, But yes, Morgan is being kinda stupid with this Life is precious thing.
In the end, I like Nickolas, He's interesting, and I wasn't too attatched to Noah yet anyway. I hope Nickolas does great things, But I did hear Scott promised major shit hitting the fan in the first two episodes, so I'm ready to see what's next.
Father Gabriel is projecting his own feelings of guilt and shame onto Rick's group. He, himself doesn't feel worthy of being in Alexandria because of how he left his congregation to die and he's using what he's seen Rick's group do to pacify his own mental anguish. When
When Gabriel says all those things to Sasha, she says to him, "I know what you're doing..."...I interpreted this to mean that she knew that Father Gabriel was trying to provoke her into shooting him, as a kind of 'suicide by cop' type deal...but again, he was projecting his own shame and guild about his congregation onto Sasha
When Gabriel says to the walker, "I'm ready" and it looks as though he's offering himself to be eaten...I had a strong feeling that he meant that he was ready to accept that he has to kill now to stay alive...that he's ready to give up his old way of living.
Morgan lost his family tragically, but it was the walkers that got his family, not the living simply for the reason that they can. He and his family wasn't tortured or kidnapped...most of the problems that Rick & Co. have encountered has been with the living...yes walkers are always a problem, but at least the dead don't attack their own. While Lori died during the c-section, the group has been through a lot of morally hardening experiences that has lowered their capacity to trust in people...
Morgan, being alone was also only responsible for only himself...Rick on the the other hand is responsible for numerous lives, all of which look to him for solid leadership....he doesn't get the privilege to ever really put his guard down because that could mean the death of his clan. If Morgan was obliged to manage the welfare of an entire group he might have a different outlook on life as well
Now, while I said that I'm not sure if I agree with Morgan's new lease on life, I mean that only in the context of the show given the history of characters who try to retain their humanity....I actually like Morgan's new view...I mean, I feel like people shouldn't be so quick to kill other survivors...like, if you're alive then we're essentially on the same team...and I feel like that Morgan kinda has that attitude with "all life is precious"...but how is Morgan going to take it when those two Wolf guys who tried to jump him show up at Alexandria's gates in S6? Anybody who crosses him, even tries to kill him, gets infinite chances? How is Morgan going to handle a threat that just doesn't quit? His attitude really makes me think that he's a prime candidate to have a fatal romance with Lucille
The shit that's gonna hit the fan-well, we saw the Wolves looking at picture Aaron left behind that show ASZ and a few ASZ residents...instead of the herd in the comics being indirectly drawn to ASZ , the Wolves are going to use their horde to attack Alexandria....
Damn! Your argument is positivley flawless! My opinion doesn't matter!! XD
also
That just killed me, thank you for making me laugh... XD
And the herd attacking alexandria theory is so crazy that scott might do it!
I think that the herd army is the most likely option b/c why else would the Wolves be collecting Walkers if not to use them as biological weapons of mass destruction? We saw that it was the Wolves that attacked Shirewilt Estates, so it follows from the scenes in the finale that Alexandria is the Wolves next target
