Shane IMO is a more awesome character. When he died, I couldn't get into the show anymore, no one acted like they had a pair.
They had like a million chances to get rid of the governor, when someone is a problem you take the steps necessary to correct that problem before it gets worse.
To me it became extremely boring, no one was Alpha, or capable of doing what needs to be done, they dragged it on for what seemed like forever.
Great goddamn question. I like Lilly better as a person, but Shane was the better character.... if that makes any sense. IRL i'd rather have Lilly in my group, but Insane Shane is more entertaining in the context of a fictional story.

I'll pick Shane, cause more screen time/constant dramatics I guess. This is a weird choice.

Shane. No contest.
Lilly, hands down.
Shane.
But I like Lily, too.

Shane was only of the few changes from the comics that is a million times better. Made season 2 watchable.
That Otis episode with him was amazing.
Shane, really easily. Lily may be my least favorite character in TWD universe.
