Why did _______ stab ______ with scissors

Seriously why did Beth stab Dawn with scissors? It made no sense

  • I'm assuming out of anger since Dawn tried to take Noah back at the last second, and that wasn't part of the agreement.

  • Two reasons.

    1. She's stupid.
    2. The writing on the show is godawful.
  • Its not awful. There are some awesome good moments that werent in the comics

  • I don't care for it. I stopped watching when Shane died.

  • Because she wanted to save Noah from Dawn. She was tired of Dawn manipulating people. She knew she'd probably get killed, but she also knew somebody would kill Dawn.

  • Shane will always be one of my favorites

  • Because she didn't want Dawn to have her way again. I know it was stupid, but it sure was stupid.

  • She was sick of her shit. I know a lot of people think she did it for, or to save Noah. But she was willing to let him go. When Dawn says she needs Noah back, everyone(Rick's group) was against it, but Noah said it was ok. Beth hugged him goodbye, and Dawn said, "I knew you'd be back." to Noah. I think that irked Beth enough to try and end the Tyranny.

She's got a big heart, and even bigger balls.

The writing made sense, contrary to what people are saying. The motivation, the setup (Beth almost killing the doctor in "Slabtown"), and the thematic consistency of Daryl killing Dawn instead of Beth, just like Beth killing Gorman and O'Donnell instead of Dawn. GiantKiller pretty much pointed out the motivation.

The directing and framing of the scene, however, is what totally fucked it up. Dawn wearing her armor (I understand that stabbing still cuts through bullet-proof armor, but I don't know what kind of armor is stab-proof and whether Dawn was wearing that kind) and Beth stabbing her in the shoulder, and especially Dawn's magic gun which was holstered but then just teleported to aim at Beth's head all culminate to completely take the credibility out of the scene, drag it behind a shed, and beat it with hammers.

Angela Kang is a shitty writer for the most part, but the writing is not to blame for this scene. Ernest Dickerson, while an okay director, should be blindfolded and made to walk through a hallway full of Legos for that scene.

  • I agree, its pretty bad, look at what they did to Shane.

  • SO SHE WAS SUICIDAL.

Because she wanted to save Noah from Dawn. She was tired of Dawn manipulating people. She knew she'd probably get killed, but she also knew somebody would kill Dawn.

  • It doesn't have to make sense Beth had no purpose on the show other than to be Maggies sister and be Rick's babysitter. I could care less how she died or if she lived and just went back into the background. Noah was just as bad but at least he got people killed so that made him a little interesting.

  • I guess? The storyline in general was just very odd. And I can tell the writers wanted the viewers to be like, "Whoa, it's Atlanta again!" when they wrote that storyline, but in reality the viewers were like, "Oh...it's Atlanta again...I thought we were done with this."

  • Well, She wanted to prove she was strong, She was angry that Noah had to leave, Frustrated they thought she was being rescued, and Insecure about her strength, So she decided to attack I guess, What i don't get is why didn't she stab dawn the forehead?

  • agreed

  • I'm sure if i attacked a police officer, i would be shot dead with a pair of scissors,

    IMO common sense.

I don't think she expected Dawn to shoot her, but more like get into an actual fight with her. And she used to be suicidal in Season 2, b

And she used to be suicidal in Season 2, but I'm sure after getting a little more hardened, she wasn't as suicidal since she tells Daryl that she's not that type of girl anymore.

  • It's not as black and white as police officer vs. civilian. Dawn showed some sort of connection to Beth positive wise, Beth probably didn't think she'd actually shoot her.

  • maybe she shot her out of reaction, through her police training, I didn't watch the scene so i don't know.
