Why is Daryl loved so much?
I downright hate him. He is super boring and bland with zero character development. Sure he is badass but does that really make a reason for him to be a favorite?

Actually from what I seen/remembered, a lot of people here hates Daryl's character. For me he's not my favourite but I'm okay with his character.
I just am going off of the stupid meme "if Daryl dies we riot" which is stupid as hell. Hell if they were true fans they would be like "if Daryl dies we keep watching"
People love to point out all he has lost, as if that makes him somehow different than the other characters. They then hold him on a pedestal, above everyone else.
I fucking hate how AMC doesnt have the balls to kill him off
I predict this won't be a popular comment, but I'll share my views. I'm not an "omg if daryl dies we riot" fangirl, but I do really like him.
-Bad boy appeal
-Troubled backstory- it's interesting to see how he and his views have changed. I remember in S2 when he cringed away from Carol's kiss, because he never really got to know true affection. The respect he grew for Glenn after stereotyping him in S1. It's also not said or may not be even true, but because of his upbringing, where he is, and his racism, I think it's safe to say he grew up in a household that didn't look kindly on gay people. I think those assumed views have softened after getting to know Aaron.
-His aloofness; a mystery in a lot of ways.
-To put it bluntly, he's hot. We all like a little eye candy
I can't say I hate him, but he's nowhere near my favorite character on the show and I do believe he is overrated. I'm tired of people saying, "If Daryl dies, we riot," or, "I'll stop watching the show if they kill Daryl." If you're going to stop watching because of one character or he is the sole reason why you watch the show, then you're not a true fan. Carol's my favorite character, but I won't stop watching when they kill her off.
Because tumblr thinks he is handsome.
I would ask the same question, why some people hate him? I really don't see a freaking reason. TELL ME
I never actually sat down and watched the Walking Dead, but when I was staying with my aunt and uncle, I was on the couch once while my uncle was watching it. I remember asking why one of the characters looked like a total douche and I just realized I was talking about Daryl.
Y'know, the most loved character ever. .
. . Is it the crossbow, maybe?
Maybe because people like that badass guy they can't be in real life.
He has developed. I stated some ways above, and they have touched upon how he is loyal to the group and considers them family, compared to the lone wolf in S1. Staying in a place like Alexandria (not for his own self, since he can more than protect himself on his own) but because of the relationships he has made is a big difference than the character we were first introduced to.
Is he the greatest character ever made? Of course not. You might not like it, but he has developed, just in more subtle ways.
Do you hate hate him? Or is it just a dislike?
Thats a really good point
Hate em. Just dont find him interesting
That's understandable I guess. I mean, he is starting to lack emotion and character, even though I still love him.
The problem is not Daryl. The problem is his teenage fangirls who used to ship him with Beth, because apparently they needed to ship him with someone and Carol was too old for their standards.
The literal only reason i want him dead is to see how bad the fangirls react, i seriously think itll drop like a quarter of the viewers lol, but itd still be worth it to see all of them stop being so....fangirly
I don't have a problem with Daryl specifically, I have a problem with his annoying fanbase who threaten to riot if hes killed off. I like Daryl, and I like him for a few reasons.
Me, personally, I think he needs to stay out recruiting with Aaron and not get so much screentime in Season 6. I'm ready to see Abraham become Ricks administrative Right-Hand-Man like he was in the comics, and get so much more screentime than he has been getting. I don't want Daryl to die, and quite frankly, I'm loving all this badass manpower Rick has on his side. (Daryl, Abraham, Carol, Sasha, Michonne, Morgan, etc.)
I think Rick is going to need all the manpower and defenders he can get when Negan arrives, and I'm satisfied with the group we have now. I like Daryl, but I do agree with others, he doesn't need much screentime. Abraham is my favorite in the comics and in the show and I feel like he's going to need that precious screentime to evolve into Ricks go to guy like he was in the comics.
I hate him. After Season 3, he has had no character development and is just put in for a couple "badass" scenes and dialogue with Carol and (previously) Beth to appease the fangirls. He no longer has any purpose in the show and needs to be killed off. If AMC really wants to keep a "badass" character, they should introduce Jesus. He's a much more interesting character.
Tyreese was more of Rick's right hand man in the comics
"He is super boring and bland with zero character development "
How is he boring? And you hate him AFTER he saved everyone's life at the barn? Without him, everyone would have died.
Who the hell is Jesus? I never read the comics. Why Daryl needs to be killed off? Without him, everyone would have died
lol don't let your inner fangirl speak for you daryl isn't the reason everyone is alive rick is and jesus is a member of another community near alexandria and he is 100x better than daryl and unless the writers learn how to balance screen time daryl needs to go, we don't want jesus to have the same deal as abraham and tyreese
Rick looks at Daryl as his own brother. What would have happened if it wasn't Daryl and nobody was watching the barn for walkers?
that should have been abraham or tyreese not daryl
somebody else would have it's called keeping watch that tends to happen with groups in twd
How is Abraham or Tyreese like a brother to Rick? Rick said that Daryl is a brother to him, you're not playing as him, Rick has his own personality.
where did i say that? i said they should have because that is originally how it was in the comics and it was better that way, learn to read for starters that will help if you are arguing with someone on a forum
Good, i'm sick of those characters anyways.
Not trying to hate, but i don't get it.
He doesn't lift, and his hair looks like a mess. So what is hot again? Is it that mole on the side of his face.
He does lift. His arms actually have their own twitter account, lmao. I also think it's important to add that someone doesn't need to have muscles to be considered attractive.
I like messy hair, I've rarely ever had a crush on a guy with a crew cut.
What is attractive? Again, the whole bad boy appeal. Nice hair (in my opinion), piercing gaze, nice defined jaw and chin. Can't say I like the chin pubes though.
The TV show and the comics DON'T have the same story.
No kidding, and I think it should have went down like that because Comic Tyreese is hands down one of my all-time favorite TWD comic characters, and I think Tyreese would have made a better go-to-guy anyways. But, Daryl was Ricks right hand man in the show, and I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is Abraham not getting much screentime, and Tyreeses show character, as much as I liked him, didn't do us justice at all. I stand by my point though, Daryl should not get NEAR as much screentime as he has been, and use that screentime to develop the badass we all know and love- Abraham.
I agree. I like Daryl, but his character really needs no more screentime. I think he's better suited to stay OUT recruiting with Aaron. Tyreese was fucked beyond recognition, and as sad as that made me, I DONT want that happening with Abraham or Jesus.
And yes, Jesus is an all-around better character than Daryl.
Actually technically they do
Matter of fact, the comics has a BETTER storyline.
The only thing I liked with the show more than I did with the comics were Shane and Hershels character, and the Terminus story arc.
Otherwise, the comics has and always will be my favorite out of the series.
lol yes technically they do have the same story with some differences most of them being shitty ones (like daryl being ricks right hand man!)
Merle is the best Dixon brother, in my opinion. But, Daryl as Ricks right hand man is fine by me, but I think they're bleeding his character DRY. He doesn't need anymore screentime, he needs to stay out recruiting with Aaron. Tyreese should have been like his comic counterpart, and I'm still clenching onto hope that Abraham is going to become Ricks right hand.
No, he wasn't. Tyreese's stance on killing, since I assume you mean that, is ripped straight from the comics, except Tyreese was an unlikable, hypocritical asshole when he made similar proclamations in the comic, treating Rick like a killer despite being the only one between the two who had killed for pleasure. It wasn't even a heat of the moment thing during their fight, since he still stood against Rick during the "we are the walking dead" moment. Yes, I know Tyreese went along with Michonne's retarded plan to go kill the Governor's people (and panicking the whole time, if I remember correctly), but by that same token, TV Tyreese picked up a gun and fired back at the Governor's people in the show. Same shit, different pile. Both did what they had to when they had to.
TV show Tyreese, however, only truly adopted a no-killing philosophy after witnessing the most horrific event he'd ever witnessed, seeing a little girl brightly defend stabbing her little sister to death, and then that same little girl getting shot in the head by her guardian, and on top of all of that, to learn that said guardian and someone he considered a friend had actually murdered the woman he loved, and having to make a choice to kill or forgive. Because prior to that, he was more than ready to find and murder the person responsible. The events of "The Grove" shook him to his core so much that he rethought his values. Call me insane, but I like that arc a hell of a lot more than his comic arc which came to a halt for a pointless shock death that only happened because of Michonne's stupid plan. The TV show death was also a shock death, but it made sure to honor Tyreese's character and his journey. Also, everything surrounding Tyreese and Carol was just way better in the show than the comic.
The only thing comic Tyreese had over TV Tyreese was that he was more of a leader who could take charge when he had to, which was cool. Their arcs were certainly different, but I maintain that there were more similarities than differences in terms of character.
Without Rick, everybody would have died. Daryl has saved lives, but now he is just there to quench the fangirls taste for "badass" kills and good looks
