Which choices make the most sense storywise?

Which decisions in the game do you feel make more sense in the general flow of the story. These aren't choices you essentially agree, like or support but dialogues or choices that result in better more believable reactions from the characters and how the story inevitably progresses

For example I think killing Larry is the better option storywise

  • It means Kenny therefore trusts Lee and wants to be with him for the rest of the game which he is and oppositely Lilly not doing that.
  • It sets up lilly's instability as she feels she can rely on no one in the group
  • The dialogue after the event and subsequent conversations feels more legitimate
  • Its much more believable that Lily would let lee die over doing that than Kenny letting lee die just for not doing it
  • Lee "hiding" it from the rest of the group makes more sense
  • The Lee/Kenny dialogue is a bit better in episode 3 than the anti lee dialogue
  • Friend Kenny sets up Super season 2 Kenny as more believable

Probably stealing from Arvo since they never bother to explain why he comes back with his group otherwise. Unless they do it later. I hope they explain it.

  • Standing up to Carver when he's giving his bad guy comic book speech to Clementine. Chuck mentioned back in S1 that Clem had a good spirit and I liked following through on that. Even though Clem may be little, she knows when people are being treated badly and will do what's right. Telling Carver that he was a bully with those piercing yellow eyes felt great, consequences be damned. It also felt like it made sense since in the next scene we were planning on busting out of Carver's camp anyway.

  • I would say stealing from The Stranger's car, it gives him a much better and more legitimate reason for coming after you and taking Clem away. I've never really liked his reasoning for taking her if you didn't steal, he felt she was in bad hands with Lee when he has kept her safe and alive for 3 months, meanwhile his family is dead and he says he will be a better father. Taking her out of revenge for stealing from him, ultimately leading to the death of his family, makes way more sense.

  • Yes I also think that in relation to the stranger clementine should be the one to kill him

This is after leaving clementine at the house with no gun, meaning that rather than clementine suddenly being able to shoot a high calibre gun at a struggle its more a psychological choice by clementine. In this scenario clementines first kill is the stranger and the way Lee repeats his advice from the train station is a lot more momentous

I would say stealing from The Stranger's car, it gives him a much better and more legitimate reason for coming after you and taking Clem awa

  • I thought it was pretty magical that he found Clementine, kidnapped Clementine, only for him to die to a gunshot or whatever. How would he even know who stole his things? Clementine wouldn't know, she didn't know that guy. She is eight, how much could you possibly remember about some car you looted, three months later.

Actually it seemed to be only a few weeks later, and Clementine had been using the walkie talkie to talk to him for an unconfirmed amount of time, so Clem could have spilled the beans long before she forgot most of the details.

  • Saving Carley. I love Doug, but Carley's story is much more fleshed out. You can reveal your past to the group through her, and develop a slight romance with her, making it all the more horrifying when she gets shot. Doug on the other hand, knows Morse Code.

  • Happily surprised at the lack of 'Wellington wololo' posts.

Anyway, I don't really get this. The story is little more than the littlle and big choices within it, so just by nature of the choices existing they make equal amounts of 'sense' story wise.

There are, however, more cheesy and generic choices and more surprising ones.

That's a theory as it's not proven in game. Either way, coming back at us for the medicine makes a lot more sense than the gun story wise anyway.

    Because Jane took Arvo's gun.

  • I really want to say Sarah and Nick, but if you save them, it doesn't really make a f*cking difference.

Saving Pete and Alvin on the other hand, makes you get a touching moment with them(Look out for Nick and take care of my girls)...

So saving Pete and Alvin seems like a better choice...

I actually think its hard for most characters but anyway

    Pete.

    • I think its better to go with him
    • Nick gets his speech anyway though in different cicumstances (albeit he seems to just randomly start to monologue)
    • I think the pair getting trappped makes more sense in the Pete one, they dont know where they are and pete is injured
    • Pete gets a pretty decent sendoff
    • I will say I prefer the one where you leave Pete to start the truck is more conclusive

    Alvin

    • Here I disagree simply because I think while heroic Alvins sacrifice is a bit illogical as it requires the logic carver just left him in his office, I mean Alvin could have sounded that alarm on his own
    • Alvin dead in episode 3 actually leads to a few interactions about him to other character, also the bonnie one is probably the only way the "george" thing gets developed at all
    • Rebecca and the groups reaction is much better in episode 2
    • Alvin dying to Kenny's recklessness and then Kenny refusing to take the same risk on someone he cares about is a good dynamic
    • Kenny mourning Alvin in episode 5 actually makes sense

    Nick

    • I have to admit neither is very good
    • Though leaving both Matthew and Walter to be gunned down as two innocent people for being good seems more dramatic and walters behaviour matches him saving Nick
    • Also Nick is at least mourned briefly by rebecca and luke and the scene with Jane at least gives clementine s bit more dialogue

    Sarah

    • i have to say leaving Sarah to die
    • For one this at least gives sarah's character somewhat of a point, a person that at the end of the day just wasnt built for it for several reasons many out of her control
    • The scene makes more sense than just randomly falling
    • Sarah again gets mourned by Rebecca and Luke
    • The conversation back to the meeting place gives the character chance to feel regret

  • It depends on what you were going for in the game. There are some choices that may seem stupid to take, but if you went inside their heads, you would understand. It's tough finding out when to forgive and when to leave. I think the choices that makes sense in season 2, is the choices where you can ask yourself "What would Lee have done?" and then try to do that. I think that's what Clementine tries to focus on when making tough decisions.

  • I wouldn't say Carley's story is more fleshed out, as in her as an individual. Lee is the big focus as a result of the talk with Carley, and its ultimately his story that gets more fleshing out. Doug as a character gets more fleshing out than Carley does because his unlikely heroism is set up in episodes 1 and 2, but then we learn of his growing depression and wish that he could do something more to help out, followed by him finally picking up a gun to defend the group, growing more of a voice and standing up to Lilly, and all of it culminating with his saving of Ben's life. It's not much, but there's a clear arc going on that is sadly cut short.

Carley, as far as I can tell, doesn't change at all from where she begins. She's a cool character, and ultimately I'd agree her survival is more important to the story as it is ultimately Lee's story and thus it gives him some more development, but I hold to the idea that Doug was more fleshed out as a character.
