Was Telltale trying to present Kenny as a villain in Season 2?

  • Refusing to help save Clementine, yet mentioning family automatically gets him to help, because Kenny knows the importance of family to another man, he's been there and he's witnessed the aftermath of losing a family member. He could control refusing to help save Clementine, but he still helps the group continue their search for Clementine when they return to the house, that's inevitable.

Considering Jane manipulated Kenny into thinking that she killed the one shred of life that has only affected him in a good way, do you really find that it would be so easy for someone to control their actions in a stage of extreme anger? Not everyone can control their temper, emotions often make us do things we wouldn't normally do. In a state where you think something you care about has been lost, you can't always control what you do, there are more examples of this earlier in the games with other characters.

It may work both ways but that doesn't mean it works the same way for each individual, the term individual would be rather flaccid if people had the same amount of control over there actions, if their emotions affected them all in the same way where they could do the logical thing.

What couldn't Kenny control? Could he control his wife dying? No. Could he control refusing to help save clementine because he didn't

  • Kenny was more of a too far gone situation "sometimes good people do bad things" it was like Lilly but it took a lot longer for Kenny to get where Lilly was.

  • If anything, Jane is the fucking villan. She wanted a poor innocent little girl to die because she was weak and reminded her of her sister, she made Luke an offer thus making him ditch his own job walkers getting close, she manipulated Clem to kill his own friend to prove a damn point, she makes her forget about him and she wanted a starving family to take a hike.

  • Kenny never thinks things out. He will never be a villain if he can't do that.

  • I'm really tired of everyone bitching over two characters that are both unstable to be taking care of a little 11 year old girl and a newborn. (Well Jane was like a mother to Jamie i guess, and Kenny was a father for Duck so there's that, but still. Just kill them off already.)

I used to like both characters, but i don't like either of them now. Just the constant whining and complaining about the two has made them unlikeable. I wish Kenny's fate was left unknown and Jane never returned in 205.

And it seems like that they were trying to make him a villain, but that fell flat because Kenny is almost right about everything. Oh and excuse the rant, i just had to get that out of my system.

  • True. Jane was supposed to leave for good One of the most fatal flaws in Episode 5. I was expecting Clementine to be separated from the group in the harsh cold and all of them left unknown until Season 3. They were point blank range at each other too lol

  • i just think kenny was done completely wrong in season two, he had some good kenny moments in season 2, but he just wasn't kenny in season two, and not because "he was changed by the apocalypse" but because he was written poorly

some villains have plans yes. but there are villains that do bad things for just the thrill of it - an example of this is Ramsey Bolton from game of thrones.

the definition of "villains" is : (in a film, novel, or play) a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot.

they can be a bad character who can do anything. He/she don't have a bad character and be aware that are so. they can be totally insane, off medication, running way from a asylum. not aware of what they are doing they follow their instincts.

  • Nah, i just think Telltale wanted to show Kenny had changed a lot since season 1 and completely gone off the rails

  • He tried to kill Lee? They only had a fight on the train but i don't recall Kenny ever trying to kill Lee

  • He never tried to kill Lee there have been a couple times where he didn't save him when he was in trouble but never actually directly tried to kill Lee. And in season 1 ep1 at the end Kenny always saves Lee after Larry leaves him.

  • More or less, That train Fight could have killed him, Not to mention the game over where Duck turns and Kills lee, that was Indirect.

  • I'm sorry, but this is kinda dumb, Kenny is not a good guy because he kept trying to save lee. anyone can save someone and still not be a good guy. Hitler is a prime example of that. He saved a british soliders life, But did that make him a good person?

  • Kenny saved Lee, Yes, But here's the cold hard truth, Kenny is lost. He is gone, He doesn't know what he's doing, and anyone who kept Kenny alive is selfish. Don't you think he wants to be with Lee, Katjaa, Sarita, and Duck? Keeping him alive is torturing him.

  • Staying with Jane means selfish. I mean I hate manipulaters, liars, traitors, selfish etc. Kenny still has Clem and AJ, they are his family left. You can't trust Jane for what she did, what she did was pretty stupid, she left a defenseless baby in a freezen car where he could have died, she wanted to prove a damn point by making Clem shoot his friend and make her forget about him. Jane is like Carver, they both hate "weakness" and unstable people. I wish I had stayed in Wellington to respect Kenny's offer but I lost the trust in people after the cabin group's death, Mike and Bonnie's betrayal and Jane's plan.

Kenny saved Lee, Yes, But here's the cold hard truth, Kenny is lost. He is gone, He doesn't know what he's doing, and anyone who kept Kenny

  • Both staying with Jane and Kenny were selfish. Jane because No trust is put in her yet, so If Clem stayed with her, Jane might bail and they might die. staying with Kenny is selfish because Having him stay alive after the shit he went through, and Having him suffer more, Is not Okay. The only good ending is the alone ending.

  • I know what you mean. In episode 3, if you don't side with him or whatever, he won't help lift the door when you are trying to collect items in the pharmacy. Retribution comes in for you in episode 4 when Kenny is caught by the leg from a walker.

Not in everyones Playthrough. He actually tried to kill lee a couple times. He isn't a villain, But he is a jerk.

  • i think they wanted to test you. kenny was okay when you first met him again in season 2 but then the group turned against him because he had his own way to handle things. i think he just tried to protect AJ and that the group was very unfair to him. i went with him in the end and didnt left him for wellington behind because its kenny!

  • There's no good or bad ending neither ending is selfish at the end of the day it's a matter of opinion nobody is wrong so there's no need to belittle anyone elses ending.

  • Geez, so much hate in this thread. I thought you guys cooled down a bit after the shitstorm.

Kenny is dead for the people who hate or couldn't stand him, there's no need to provoke folks by dotting and exaggerating his flaws/crimes/whatever. Every realistic TWD character has their pros and cons (besides Maybelle the Cow, she's perfect).

  • It wasn't Texas for Mike. Mike and Jane always agree that going south is a good idea.

They thought (correctly!) that Howe's wouldn't be full of walkers anymore. The horde moves.

Howe's already has the framwork for fortifications. They didn't know at all whether Wellington existed, or really how to get to it except 'head north' which means nothing.

Wellington may have turned out to be true, but at the time it could have easily been a rumor that didn't exist or even if it did, there was absolutely no guarantee of finding it before dying it was by insane luck that Kenny determinant finds it in his ending. Personally I would not have risked it.

  • Well, had Kenny not been a dick, Mike wouldn't have allowed Arvo to have a gun in the first place. So, while Arvo was a bit of a prick on that regard, the group as a whole wouldn't have fallen apart if not for Kenny.
