Are there any other games that are similar to the Walking Dead in that you can mold your character's personality like how we could here through our dialogue choices and actions.

I guess Life is Strange maybe? Although I think it's more the behavior of the characters will change towards Max depending on how you are with them, rather than changing Max's personality. Like near the end of Episode 2 when you get those important decisions with a character, you really have to have been paying attention prior and watched your interactions and decisions to increase your chances of helping them.

If you haven't played Telltale's other games (The Wolf Among Us, Tales From The Borderlands, Game of Thrones) I would recommend those. Although I would recommend The Wolf Among Us first because all 5 episodes are out already.
Bioware's Old Republic game let's me be a smooth talking flirty who kisses ass and commits random acts of violence Imperial Agent. So yeah. like KOTOR and stuff.
I don't think you should spoil that part of the game for him if he hasn't played it.
I know @Markd4547 would probably recommend Heavy Rain.
As Lilacsbloom said, Life is Strange follows a similar format, I'm not a huge fan of it, but there are a lot of people who like it, so you can check it out.
