The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Man, I not long got this game, and I'm already over 30 hours of gameplay lol. I know, its been out for ages, where have I been, right? I guess its one of those games that I put off for so long because I didn't think I'd like it. But, as it turns out, its such an awesome game. Who here has it?

I have the game, but I don't really like it. Pretty boring game in my opinion. I enjoyed Oblivion and Morrowind much more.
Edit: A lot of people say that mods make the game amazing. But personally, I don't think you should judge the modded version. The game by itself, is an OK game. But if you need mods to make the game amazing, it was never really an amazing game in the first place, no?
Eh, I think it is very overrated.
Dull combat mechanics where you do the same thing to fight every enemy type. For example, you can kill a dragon by just smashing the attack button just like you can to a bloody mudcrab enemy. No dynamic combat here that games 20 years ago were already doing. It just makes the whole "fantasy epic" experience, well, a whole lot less epic.
Game looks pretty ugly too. Hell, I think Fallout 3 looks much better and that was made by Bethesda years before.
Too many glitches for a supposed "GOTY" candidate and 10/10 game.
And for an RPG, the role play mechanic is so poor is may as well not even be there. Bethesda have always been bad storytellers, but the quests and choices in them are so uninspired it almost puts me in a coma. Nothing you do effects anything; well, maybe it changes a few colors or generic A.I. soldiers but that is it. The world just feels so damn empty and your choices can't fix it, just makes it unrewarding to play.
Not a bad game, but a very mediocre one.
I have it and I loved it. Wish I could still play but my Xbox died lol
Without mods : Awesome game , yet a bit overrated , but still super awesome . My only problem with it was the main storyline which lacked the awesomeness you expect . You didn't have that much of hard choices to make and it was pretty linear .(but ofc , side quests were really great and there were a lot of perfect side quests )
With mods : OH DEAR GOD ! one of the most amazing games ever . Amount of content in mods is unbelievable . You can improve the game in every single way using mods . Don't like the combat ? get a mod . Don't like the graphics ? there is a mod . Don't like the stories ? MOD .
Like it a lot, open world etc. I never really get around to finishing it
Exactly. Modded Skyrim is the best Skyrim.
P.S. I love your profile pic.
Yup , Modded Skyrim rocks ! I've recently installed a couple of magic mods(new spells , balancing magic mechanics , new robes , new masks , etc) and now being a mage has the best feeling ever !
P.S : Thanks ! What can I say ?! Doctor is love , Doctor is life !
Some good advice, mate.
Playing the game, try and refrain from using the fast travel too much. Try and roleplay a bit. And try not to steal in other people's house. Try not to kill any NPCs who pisses you off unless you are evil or Dark Brotherhood. You will enjoy the game better.
I did that for a time. I enjoyed it. Before I lost my morality and became above good and evil.
In Skyrim anyway.
I'm currently playing as a vampire. There are some amazing mods out there for this.
Don't kill the chickens.
You can always get it on PC.
I usually either ignored the chickens or stayed away from them, probably acting on some subconscious instinct ingrained in me by Ocarina of Time. But one day around the farms outside Whiterun, I noticed a chicken and decided to see what would happen if I attacked it. I made sure no one was looking, walked up to it, drew my dagger... and a freaking dragon came out of literally nowhere and started wailing on me. I've never attempted to kill a chicken since then.
I just got Skyrim this past Christmas after my friend was on me for a year to play it. I avoided it because I didn't like Morrowind or Oblivion, but Skyrim is a completely different beast. Until just recently, it's been the only thing I've played all year. Just shy of 200 hours in right now.
Funny, I'm the exact opposite. I love Morrowind and Oblivion but I found it really difficult to get into Skyrim. I think I probably overhyped it. That and the fact I got it at launch on the PS3. Ran like a trainwreck.
I walked into Riverwood, and I was just like "Whoah, Chicken! Can I kill it?" Killed it and boom here came the whole population of Riverwood after my ass.
Yeah, overhyping can do that. I try my best to never get too hyped for a game just for that reason. Hard to do most times though. I was never excited about Skyrim in the first place, so liking it as much as I do was a pleasant surprise. But PS3 at launch? Yikes. That didn't leave a very good first impression, I bet. Another good thing about waiting a few years to play it.
In defense of Morrowind and Oblivion, I didn't give either one of them much of a fair shake before I decided I didn't like them. Didn't have a lot of experience with WRPGs at the time, so I found both games to be a strange combination of confusing and bland. But I don't think I'd be able to go back to them after Skyrim.
Kill a man in Skyrim, and you can probably get away with it. Kill a chicken, and it's on.
So who here got married and to whom? Did you adopt any kids?
I married Ysolda. She is quite a charming Nord woman. I liked her as soon as I met her. And I adopted a son and daughter (and the daughter adopted a fox lol), and have a house in Whiterun, nicely decorated too.
I have Skyrim for PS3 and I've probably played around 100 hours altogether, no lie. I had a wood elf assassin (can't remember the level, it's been so long since I last played) and she was my favourite. I had other characters, but most of my cool stuff was on her. She was the first character I finished the Thieves Guild storyline with. If I remember correctly, she wore the Nightingale armour.
I married Scouts-Many-Marshes and lived in a fully-decorated house in Riften with Lydia. No children.
Well, I just got Oblivion, through gamersgate.com. Is anyone a member on that site? They have quite cheap games and you can earn blue coins to use for free games.
Wow that's cool. I hope they remaster Skyrim for the PS4.
I already have around 130 hours on it and i'm still finding new quests. Just a tip, when you do the Azura's Star quest take the star to Nelacar instead of Azura's Shrine, that way the star will be able to store white and black souls (black are the most powerful ones) instead of just white ones, unless you're role playing as a good guy
I married Ysolda too once lol. She is pretty awesome and another time I married one of the female Companions. I forget who it was I think it was main female companion. Each time I always adopted one boy and one girl and adopted a dog
I'll be honest, I joined the Skyrim Space Program when I first discovered a giants camp.
