I think Guybrush, Winslow and the Narwhal being captured and Guybrush about to be handed over to The Marquis de Singe qualifies as a cliffhanger under my understanding of the word.
Morgan knocked him overboard to get the sponge, but I don't think GT or RVW are stupid enough to tell her she's captain.

By chapter 3, most everyone who likes it bought the season. It's just enough of a hanger that others will want to know what happens next. I'm personally happy. Don't need to stress over when the next one comes out.... (Please please please be soon!)
