Stop poncing about acting as if your refusal to curse is somehow indicative of higher language. I guarantee you my GRE score and PhD that my vocabulary is far more extensive than yours and I still enjoy a good use of the word Fuck once in a while.
You might want to reread your Shakespeare while you're twiddling about and examine how filthy his language was. Or how about we take this lyric from Mozart and tell me you're somehow more elevated than he is:
Lick my ass nicely,
lick it nice and clean,
nice and clean, lick my ass.
That's a greasy desire,
nicely buttered,
like the licking of roast meat, my daily activity.
Three will lick more than two,
come on, just try it,
and lick, lick, lick.
Everybody lick their ass for themselves.
I specifically came to the Telltale games community page to bring up this topic. After turning off Walking Dead episode 1 five minutes in beca… moreuse the writers resorted to an F-Bomb as a dialog choice, I was hoping the next Telltale game would bring back the awesome writing of Sam & Max, Back to the Future, etc. Instead, I played through the demo of Wolf and was completely disgusted by the filthy language. I'm seriously disappointed that the success of Telltale is coinciding with writing that is simply gutter language of the common thug.
I consider myself a "mature" person, but I don't consider overuse of profanity mature - exactly the opposite.
i guess you dont read the comics then? if you do, you should especially skip the part with the saviours and that guy named "negan". this guy cant say a single sentence without using the f-word
There is a Zombie apocalypse in which there are people getting face munched. I highly doubt that people cursing is a big nono in society as we know it.
That's because Negan is a poorly written character, who is ridiculously unrealistic. I still found the swearing in the game more excessive than the comic.
i guess you dont read the comics then? if you do, you should especially skip the part with the saviours and that guy named "negan". this guy cant say a single sentence without using the f-word
You guys are taking the piss, right? "PWEASE MR TELLTALE, PWEASE STOP TEH SWEARING, IT HURTS MY VIRGIN AND DELICATE EARS"...
Newsflash kiddies, its a game about THE END OF THE WORLD.
Imagine this : Father and Son are trapped in their farmhouse, with Zombies trying to get in : "How are we going to stop the zombies pa?" "Well Junior, we certainly won't be swearing at them, its degrading to both you and me, and is disrespectful to your undead mother, who is banging on the farmhouse door, trying to get in and eat our skin and organs"
Old mate comes over all superior because he "chooses not to swear". He thinks that, during the zombocalypse, people will be talking like Mr Darcy, and drinking cups of earl grey whilst dispatching the undead horde. "We certainly have great expectations of your undead aunt, Miss Bennett. Perhaps, if time permits, she could stop chewing on my intestine so we could possibly retreat to the drawing room".
I'd laugh if I thought he wasn't being serious.....
I hear what he's saying, and I agree with it... But it just isn't applicable. Everyone uses the f-bomb at their own level. Clem NEVER says it. Ben says it ONCE under extreme circumstances. Carley and Doug never say it. Chuck never says it. So on and so forth.
@Chuck Daly
Sir I disagree with you. Everything I hear about the comics say they are very well written. If the language offends you I suggest you switch to "Hello Kitty Island Adventure".
That's because Negan is a poorly written character, who is ridiculously unrealistic. I still found the swearing in the game more excessive than the comic.

so you have been in a zombie apocalypse recently and know exactly what's realistic and what's not?
he's one of the biggest mofo we have met in twd so far, hell, he spoiler smashed glenns skull and SMILED while doing it spoiler i have no problems with his usage of the f-word as long as its one of HIS signature feature and noone else start swearing like shi*t
That's because Negan is a poorly written character, who is ridiculously unrealistic. I still found the swearing in the game more excessive than the comic.
People swear, a lot. I don't think telltale would include excessive profanity if they weren't trying to make character dialogue feel more believable and appropriate to the situation. If they prioritise toning down how often people swear, then it's going to limit the way characters express themselves when things go badly, and how accurately they give the impression of different personalities in a zombie apocalypse.
So it's best if they focus on realism instead of less swearing.
That's because Negan is a poorly written character, who is ridiculously unrealistic. I still found the swearing in the game more excessive than the comic.
Why do peopel that don't want to hear swearing are buying agmes with violence adn death? According to them is it ok to see peoeple get eaten alive but not to swear... If you don't want agressive language and scene don't buy games rated for thatkind off stuff... There's a perfectly good game called Puzzle Bubble with no swears and violent images in it, unless you find it agressive to see bubbles burst, I mean they are killing all the bubbles...
Many games out there offer a profanity free version, no matter their rating of violence or maturity. Offering a profanity free version is simply allowing the customer to tailor the game to their pleasure. I find gratuitous profanity to be laziness on the part of the writer, and prefer profanity free versions of very violent and mature theme games. Many game companies provide that option, and Telltale games should as well. I just started playing Sunset Overdrive, which certainly is a violent and mature game, with a bleep out option. I can enjoy the wit and dialogue without all the f words and that increases my playing pleasure, allows me to play the game without headphones at home and just expands the customer base for the game. Telltale games offer the player so many choices at every critical juncture, that it is just a joke that they do not offer a profanity free version in their settings. It's nothing but a big win to make your customers happy. I find excess profanity to be poor writing, and demand the option to set the level of profanity, violence, sexual activity in the games I purchase. I purchased a Telltale games collection to give them a try, and as a first time player of their games, was surprised and disappointed at the level of profanity and lack of capability to adjust the setting. So if you are reading these forums Telltale Games, put a profanity option into your settings like the other major game companies do. Get a clue. You are turning off a significant market segment by not offering this option. The debate is over and the advocates of player choice have won. If you do not allow gamers to custom tailor their experience, they will play elsewhere, voting with their feet. I am a military officer and I am not a stranger to profanity. I do not enjoy playing a profanity laced game for hours at end, and request you provide the option to play a bleep-less edition as your competitors do.
One of my biggest pet peeves in writing is when EVERYONE in a story equally swears like a sailor. Especially when not everyone is a "hardened character." If the nice guy and the rebel just drop casual f-bombs with no consequence
Sheesh, sheltered life much? Fuck isn't an evil hardcore word that you should reserve for that special moment once a year. it's not excessive at all in TWD. It's a common way of expressing an emotion and has a broad spectrum of uses. Considering their situation, the kind of people that survive and the kind of people that survive because of the kind of people that survive. People who talk about "f-bombs" probably wouldn't last a week.
Its not poor writing if they are following the source material, which they are in this case. The world of TWD is extremely grim, gritty, sexual and violent (as far as the comics go), and swearing is a part of that. I dont swear much as a rule myself but I don't mind it if fits the environment. Also, I would think a game full of bleeps would be annoying to play.

Get a clue? You are turning off a significant market segment? Really? You sir are extremely mistaken. People will play regardless of cursing, look at GTA.
Your last statement in what I quoted just isn't true. I could care less if there was cursing, and just about everyone here doesn't care as well. The 'advocates of player choice'? What are you talking about. Gamers will stay. The majority doesn't care.
Their competitors? TellTale is the best at what they do. They don't need to worry about it.
Let me tell you: the game is rated M. Strong Language is on the rating. Don't complain about something that was warned on the game's box

Telltale should just cut the middle man and put gigantic post dates in the original posts
And I'm talking huge
Like taking up half of the screen huge
Bolded, italicized and underlined
And in the color red
And for good measure, throw in about ten of these too:
...or just simply have a pop-up warning come up if someone tries to post in an old thread (more than 8 months, or whatever works best), something like: "This thread is from [date], are you sure that you want to post this comment?"
I'll tell you right now, if i were in a world full of fucking zombies, every other word out of my mouth would be profanity. As much creative profanity as i could think up! In fact it feels less realistic to me that there aren't more people swearing. It's fun, lets off steam, fits some situations better than regular words, and it's satisfying to curse.
'Stupid fudging zombie almost bit me' just doesn't fit the environment, if you ask me.
I was about to make a thread on this. Too many characters cuss every sentence. To make it worse, they cuss when it's not even necessary. I cuss, I do it a lot actually, just not so regularly.

But why would you cuss when you're safe for the time being? Yeah it's understandable sometimes but several times, characters cuss when there's really no need.
Just the stress of the world, you never know where having a nice dinner could turn into a cannibal cookout. People cuss for no reason, I really don't see much issue with the way they cuss...The world is ending after all.

There's plenty of times when they don't seem stressed, or scared, or angry at all and cuss. It's times when they seem relaxed or carefree and still swear where I think to myself, "who throws this many f-bombs?"

People still cuss like that in real life, in random parts of the day when they're the calmest. I know tons, you could only imagine how worse it could get at the end of the world.

I throw f-bombs around like Liberty Prime throws actual bombs. There are totally people who swear and cuss in nearly every sentence no matter what's happening around them, even if the situation doesn't particularly call for it.

Especially not ones like this!

Swearing doesn't necessarily define who someone is. Some of the nicest people I know drop f-bombs every now and then.
You know, those who have a problem really don't have to play the game at all, just saying (not trying to be a bitch).
Ok mod? It's a joke. Necro bumping threads is dumb. Funny how I'm always the only one being get at for "arguing".
What are you on about? I wasn't replying to you.
