The reason why Gryff isn't "maimed"

I can't believe no one knows the solution to this..

Asher said he was on the boat for WEEKS with the pit fighters and he could use a good fight before the ambush began.

Gryff healed by the time the attack happened, his eye must have survived somehow and was nursed back to health.

It may look like you beat him close to death but............ game.

  • I didn't realize medieval medicine could heal blindness, and in a few weeks too? Now that is impressive.

The actual reason why Griff isn't maimed, is because of a glitch with the models... or laziness on TellTale's part, though I'd like to think, and do think, it's the former reason.

  • I saw a picture, with an eyepatch is that true?

This picture? Supposedly. I find it a bit strange that he still has blood covering his entire face though. I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to clean the blood off someones face before operating on them.

The fact that this scene supposedly takes place weeks after he was attacked is even stranger.

  • Perhaps this is a beta model for his injuries being patched up? Strange he's covered in blood. It suggests this is RIGHT AFTER his beating..

I just had a thought that maybe this was originally going to be used at the ambush if you maimed Gryff, but Telltale only realized that it didn't make any sense to have Gryff covered in blood right before releasing the game, and since they didn't have time to create a new model to use in it's place they just used the non mained Gryff model.

  • Maybe somebody at Telltale just missed this detail. Hopefully a patch will solve this. I doubt his face healed that quickly back to the way he originally looked. This may be a problem now, but it'll be forgotten if TT just does a simple swap. The way these things happen.

  • Supposedly, Gryff was set free from jail a few hours before the ambush on the coast. And i doubt Rodrik would've given him a towel to clean himself.

  • No offense but that's stupid. They wouldn't need a new model for that.. anyway even if they just used his normal face texture with the eyepatch it would've made sense more than this.

  • Doesn't it take them weeks to reach the coast? I'm sure they said that. Besides, Gryff could just... wipe the blood off his face.

  • It takes Asher weeks to reach the port, but I imagine Rodrik and Co. made it in a few (2-3) days.

  • So, long enough for Gryff to sort his face out. Unless he just likes blood covering him.

Yes, he has way more than enough time to wipe the blood off, hell he probably could have done it while he was locked away. Plus, there's an option when talking to Ramsay where Rodrik tells him that the Maester has had a look at him.

  • I would love it if Telltale would actually clarify whether this was an error that will be fixed or if it was actually intended.

  • Lol I just imagined Gryff licking his fingers to clean the blood off xD

  • Now that I think about it, the times kinda counter each other.

Like, imagine if ep 6, when we start to play as Garred we are still running. we'd be running for weeks

  • I like to picture him in his cell cleaning himself like a cat.

  • Seriously. I beat that pissypants asshat until my mommy stopped me. I wanted to see an eyepatch at least, Governor style!

I'm sorry to say this but.. WTF TELLTALE.. That was a MAJOR MESS UP! I mean they made an entire scene where you poke his eye out, make it a major choice in episode 4, AND made that scene being thrown in a cell blinded. To quote Toad from TWAU "DOES ANY OF THIS SOUND FAMILAR?!"

Nah man, this was just plain laziness/oversight by Telltale.

"Gryff healed by the time the attack happened"

    maim:

    verb (used with object)
    1.
to deprive of the use of some part of the body by wounding or the like; cripple:
The explosion maimed him for life.
    2.
    to impair; make essentially defective:
The essay was maimed by deletion of important paragraphs.
    noun, Obsolete
    3.
a physical injury, especially a loss of a limb.
    4.
an injury or defect; blemish; lack.

The entire point of the scene in ep4 was getting revenge by maiming gryff in a similar way (or even worse actually) that Rodrik had to endure. Now it's just meaningless because Gryff is bloody Wolverine apparently.

  • I poked both of his eyes out lol one eyepatch wont be enough for that:D

This picture? Supposedly. I find it a bit strange that he still has blood covering his entire face though. I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure

  • It was a glitch, also theres voice files for Gryff in EP5 that sounded like whoever stayed behind battled him, and could win or die

  • Rodrik also mentioned that the Maester is taking care of Gryff...

  • Telltale :(

  • They better fix it for EP6... the only victory the Forresters have had over the Whitehills, and it's been effectively retconned.

  • Well, eyes do not grow on trees, so... A week, or a month, or a year, doesn't really matter.
Really, that's quite a big mistake on Telltale's part. Hope they will fix it.

But I don't exactly want to replay the harbor scene again just to see Gryff's smug face with an eyepatch. He ain't worth that.
