She is hands down my most hated Walking Dead character in any medium, and probably my second most hated fictional character ever. I'll spare everyone the detailed reasoning of why I hate Jane, lest this turn into another Kenny vs Jane thread, but I see no redeeming qualities in her what so ever.
You guys do understand in the world of the Walking Dead it is SURVIVE or DIE, right? Not "Be sweet and love everyone". And sometimes in order to survive, you have to be "cruel". Some of you guys point out one incident that you felt was "wrong" and feel as if it overwrites the rest of her good deeds.
I personally would have started her out in the firs episode as a member of the cabin group. She starts off as compassionate and kind and we also meet her sister Jamie. After the loss of Jamie at Carver's camp she would go through a major character change (cutting her hair and becoming more dark) and insists they move on while having resentment for the group. It would be nice if we saw her go from a sweet, protective, pretty big sister to a cheating, vengeful but smart survivor while not making her interactions forced but a free willed one
How do you think she could've been written better? (This is not a sarcastic question.) How do you think she could've been written to make her more likeable?
Agreed. Also, AJ was wrapped in a blanket inside a car during a blizzard, which hinders your vision. Jane knew where he was, not walkers. I don't know why TTG decided Clem would be able to hear AJ crying so far away from the car when blizzards mute noises, so walkers shouldn't be able to distinguish crying from the wind. Shooting walkers on the way to the rest stop should've attracted walkers, but it didn't, because of the blizzard. So I don't think AJ was in any real danger. But I have to remind myself this is only a game... (Not being sarcastic)

I don't see any, either. And yet people like to paint her like every single thing she ever did was justifiable, and accuse me (and other Kenny fans) of doing the same about Kenny. I never claimed that he was a perfect angel who never did anything wrong, and yet people act like I do. I personally do not like her one bit. It's okay if other people do, so long as they can realize that she has made mistakes and did some very wrong things.

This thread is strictly about Jane. Anything about Kenny should be pushed to the side. I never said she was an angel... Neither did anyone else. So how are you drawing this conclusion?

I feel the same way. We all make mistakes. Including the best characters/people. And most of us accept the facts.

Her impression on me was the same way I feel about Nick and Rebecca, they were like the worst people in the world. Then they changed. Like her. ;( I feel i have become stronger like Clem. and it's things like this I live for.

This is just so true. Yet people switch some things and make it look like Jane "left a poor innocent new born baby to die to kill Clementine's friend".

Aything could of happened. And yes you're talking a lot about the blizzard. And yes, Aj was in a blanket but Blizzards, and snow is still cold. What if it had lasted longer than it did? (I don't think he had clothes on under the blanket either.)

He surely didn't have clothes on under the blanket, as I don't think that the group found any his size to dress him in. And, like you said, anything could have happened. There was no way of knowing when she put him there that everything would work out correctly and he would be 100% guaranteed to be safe.

Also, I'm still very much upset at her for treating Sarah like she was a liability. She can't help the way she is. She can't help that her father failed to teach her the skills necessary for survival because he wanted to protect her innocence. She can't help that she has anxiety attacks.
Jane told Clementine to leave her behind. Of course, I didn't. Then she told us it would be useless to try to save her a second time. I don't care if shooting the walkers would have drawn more close. They had the ammo, they could have shot the walkers close to Sarah when she was trapped. (Why couldn't you?)
Jane also pushes every single one of Kenny's buttons, including ones about his dead family and how he won't stop talking about them, when she had just spent the previous fifteen to twenty minutes mentioning her dead sister at random intervals. I'm just saying if she regretted what happened to Jamie that much, she would have tried harder for characters like Sarah, Nick, and maybe not left the group that Clementine was in.
Again, I don't mind if others like her, but please realize that she has made mistakes. All of us have.
Exactly. Nice use of that quote from Walter, too. I'm sure he would be proud of people like you and I.
Wow... I'm sorry to hear about your friend. All I can really say to you is stay strong. Be your own Clementine.
Also, I'm still very much upset at her for treating Sarah like she was a liability. She can't help the way she is. She can't help that her father failed to teach her the skills necessary for survival because he wanted to protect her innocence. She can't help that she has anxiety attacks.
That's sad and everything, but when the apocalypse hits, whether it's unfair or not, it's survival of the fittest.

If someone is obviously going to get you killed when your priority is to survive, hell yeah I'd be afraid if I shot walkers would come close, especially if the person you are going to save is going to do more damage than benefit you.

It rarely snows when it's below zero, so I doubt it was freezing. It's still cold, but he's also being shielded from the wind inside a car, so he's not feeling it directly.
What if it had lasted longer than it did?
I don't think the fight would've lasted longer than it did. Clementine made sure of that. But if we're talking about what ifs...if the fight had gone on for a couple hours (that's exhausting so I can't see that happening), AJ took a nap/stayed inside a secure car then, and because I chose to save Jane, she knew where to find AJ.

I felt that Kenny was the overall the better character.
He cared for Clem and Aj the most out of anyother character (Clem: Maybe Lee and Aj: Rebecca.)
If anyone ended the game with Kenny then you would notice that Kenny seems happy. (after the 'nine days later screen')
He and Clem race up the hill. It's the happiest thing since Luke's birthday. Okay, yes he was a little hard on Arvo.
Also Jane wanted to give up on finding Wellington. Where they would be safe.
'Where there's smoke there's fire'
Also you don't give up. 'You don't just end it 'cause it's hard you stick i out and help the folks you care about.'
I mean what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Again. why do you continue to compare Jane and Kenny? This is obviously going to cause problems. There is an entire threads for Jane vs Kenny arguments.
I like her. I found her stories intriguing and personality on par with what Id expect from gals in TWD. She didn't treat Clem like crap and I understood why she was distant from her when the going got tough.
A complicated individual that dosn't really seem to know what she wants.
That's going to cause a whole Jane vs Kenny argument, which are very toxic. And you aren't making it any better obviously bashing Jane to uphold Kenny.

I usually have a dislike of "I'm a survivalist with a tragic backstory!" characters and Jane was no exception, stashing away AJ just to provoke an already angry man is just idiotic.
Maybe it's because when we try to give our opinions on Jane, other people antagonize us for not liking her, so we think it's fair game to bring up why we like Kenny? I'm only ever trying to be civil, but when it is the same people over and over and over trying to debunk everything I say, it gets really old, really quickly.

Lol how are you always drawing these weird conclusions. First I'm trying to "antagonize you" and now I'm trying to "debunk" you?
The problem isn't your opinion on Jane, your problem is that you are bashing Jane in order to uphold Kenny, which is bound to lead to an argument. Therefore, you are not at all attempting to be civil.

Yes but...some of the reasons people dislike Jane is because of her attitude towards Kenny.
Then maybe they should take that shit here:

She's being civil to me. More respect than any real person has ever shown me.
That's only because you both have the same opinion. If you didn't, believe me, everyone wouldn't seem so "civil".
