For the barrier thing...people actually do that a lot, so it's not a problem. Or they stand with their back to the exit to the Blight.

  • Yeah I'm one of the people that stood towards the back and just stayed there throughout the whole fight, it's kind of cowardly, but it works.

  • I have not played Saints Row The Third yet but it is in my library, If I'm ever gonna play it I'm going as the Fiona voice

You should recreate Fiona! And then we should play co-op with my Rhys. That would be rad |D

    * I like Handsome Jack way more than the rest of the crew * I found the Presequel really good * I have not played Saints Row The Third yet

  • Yeah that would be cool!
    Don't have much time though.

While I do love the Original 4, that's not why I get really harsh. I don't even mind if people just disliked her for any of the reasons prior to TPS being released cause she was overpowered ability wise so they tried to balance that with a unstable personality, etc etc etc which not everyone loves, I get that.
But I do just get.....irked? (I don't know, a touch away from actually being mad) when people started hating on her, Roland, and Moxxi after playing TPS and letting that completely overwrite what was established as their personalities and histories (and also Jack's) because a game that was an after-thought-cash-in-on-diehards-like myself-from the pov of the villain, paints them in not the best light. That's why I call them fickle fans

  • Ok, this has probably been mentioned before, but I didn't really feel the song in the ep.4 intro. Not to say it wasn't good, and it grew on me, but the thing is, none of the previous songs were my kind of music, and yet I loved them, immediately, because of the ... context? I guess? They just worked out so well... The ep.4 music I'm still kinda meh about.

  • To be honest it's the only song so far wich I didn't put into my BL playlist because it didn't get to me like the others did.

  • 1.) I came to the Tales party late, despite being a big BL fan.

2.) I prefer the original Borderlands to 2 and TPS.

3.) I always choose the sentry class when I'm playing with friends.

4.) I enjoy Rhys' crush on Sasha, but I find most of the shipping on this forum incredibly annoying.

5.) I like Vasquez. His voice actually reminds me of a former boss.

6.) In BL2, I have a crippling slot machine addiction.

7.) S&S Munitions is my favorite brand. I'm still super pissed that they replaced it will Bandit. (Basically S&S with shitty stats)

8.) Claptrap's Robot Revolution is my absolute favorite Borderlands DLC.

9.) I laughed until I cried when I heard Handsome Jack's spoon story and Rhysquez' "Rhys' Pieces" line.

    • I see a little bit of myself in Rhys.
    • Tales is my first Borderlands experience.
    • Tale's episode 3 intro song is underwhelming to me.
    • I love Vasquez as a villain.
    • I like Fiona.

There might be more confessions once I complete more of BL2 and the Pre Sequel.

  • Wait. What? People are harassing other people over fictional ships, with fictional characters, in a fantasy setting? Oh come on, people can't really be that disconnected to reality that they get upset with shipping. There are a lot of people in need of some very good therapists out there, when they don't grasp fantasy from reality.

I confess... that I've only played the beginning of all three games besides Tales. And yes, it shames me, but shooters just aren't really my thing.

I must confess, I think Claptrap is by far the best BL character.

I must confess, I think Tiny Tina will get a love interest in BL 3. Probably not the same personality though...

I must confess, I still to this very day LOVE the Unkempt Harold guns.

I hate alll tediore brand weapons.

    1. I always disliked Borderlands until playing Tales From the Borderlands. When playing TFTB, I went back and played the other Borderland games, and ended up loving them.

    2. Me and Rhys have almost the same exact personality.

    3. I laughed way too hard at the Handsome Jack joke "You're the only one running, I can FLY!"

    4. My friends and I couldn't stop dueling each other in the Presequel.

  • Jack had me at Pumpkin. Pet names is a weakness of mine.
I have only played up to finding the vault entrance after I finished the game the first time. The ending missions makes me feel uggy.
The Pre-Sequel is my favorite and I've played it more than the other two combined.
I don't like co-op because friends yammering means I can't hear the actors lines and it makes me grumpy.
I tricked a friend into starting the Neil fight when he was level 10. Not proud of myself, but it was entertaining.

  • I always found him "funny-annoying". He was a very annoying character but it was funny how he was annoying. Sort of how

  • I am ashamed to admit it, but I only just recently learned that Vaughn was played by Chris Hardwick.

I even remember when Vaughn spoke in the 1st trailer, I was thinking he sounded a TON like that Talking Dead guy...

    I am shame. =(

    • I am not the biggest fan of the fact Borderlands relies so heavily on topical references for humor. I believe that it will really date the game(s) (coming from someone who loves Borderlands so much he will be playing them 10 yrs from now on beyond)

The police claptrap, CU5TM-TP, was quite annoying tho.

Claptrap: Where did you learn customer service? You're a very rude mother-trucker.

CU5TM-TP: You're in violation of the Verbal Space Morality Statute. You just got a ticket!

Agreed. I still think the intro's nice and the song isn't bad, but Episode 4's intro is the one I like the least.

  • Alright Rock, confession time. Let's get the big one out of the way first:

    • I think that Jack was always an evil, sociopathic jackass. Even in TPS. Even before then. Lilith, Roland, and Moxxi betraying Jack in TPS actually made me like them more. It's just too bad that Jack is as smart as he is evil, otherwise it would have worked.
    • Whenever I play Borderlands 1 I play as Roland. Whenever I play Borderlands 2 I play as Axton. I absolutely love their turret skills, especially Axton's.
    • I gave Axton's turret a name because it's just so awesome. That name is Lucy. I don't have a problem, get off my back.
    • I'm glad that so far Claptrap hasn't shown his face in TFTBL. Being forced to interact with him would be a real downer for me.
    • Kroger and Finch are two of my favorite characters. It's Lee and Bigby working as bounty hunting partners in the Wild West IN SPACE, so what's not to like? I don't care if they keep trying to kill me, they'll always be cool in my book.
    • I no longer dislike Sasha. Never thought I'd be saying that, but there it is. After four Episodes I'm ready to call her a friend. Heck, I like pretty much every character in Tales now, with the exception of Vallory.
    • Zafords > Hodunks
  • Well what you wrote about Jack is actual canon. The opinion that Lilith and the others "created" the monster that is Handsome Jack, while being shared vocally, is far from the actual truth. There are so many moments in TPS alone before they try to kill Jack that he shows his true darker colors. And if you combine with the background you gain on him from BL2, it's not even a question. The only thing you can blame Lilith for is not killing Jack in that final cut scene (but of course that would've just ruined the continuity) which makes me wonder why they added it at all (Jack already wanted vengeance against them and they didn't necessarily have to explain why and how he got that scar). I don't get why people forget/overlook/take TPS's pov over what was previously established. I mean don't get me wrong it's cute that they think Jack is the real hero of this adventure, but he's not.

Well, disregarding the people who woobify Jack and believe him to be a blameless victim, I do believe the canon in this situation is fairly ambiguous and open to interpretation where the characters' morality is concerned. The thing is, this is Borderlands, a world where horrible murder is a common occurrence, and none of the characters are good or innocent people. Whether it was Jack, or Lilith, Moxxi and Roland who were ultimately in the right regarding the actions they took is subjective. They all did bad things to achieve their preferred outcomes - who the player thinks is the 'bad' guy depends on which of these outcomes they themselves believe to be better.

Personally I think Jack is a bad person, but in the grand scheme of Borderlands, the better option.
