We have no idea what happens to Christa's baby but I think I have figured out what happens. When clementine is sticking her arm "she says just like Christa showed her to do it. What if, she was stiching herself up after the baby died.

There's no baby after the 16 month skip.

I knew that, I think he died and he died stillborn
Even if it wasn't stillborn, it would have died in days. It's a wonder than Alvin Jr. even survived birth, not to mention a journey of several days without food, buy you know...plot.

I am going to assume, that somehow she survived childbirth but lost her baby due to medical reasons, the chances of having a baby without problems out of the hospital isn't very good.

The baby died.
When AJ is born and at first everybody thinks he didnt make it Clementine say something like "No, not again."
i think the baby died during preganancy. she gave birth and her stomach was bleeding due to the pregnancy. she stiched herself up.
Clementine kind of confirms that the baby died when she repeats 'Not again. Not again.' when she thinks A.J has died.
I don't think her stitching up her arm had anything to do with the baby. It's just a basic survival technique.
Also, I thought it was implied that Christa's baby was a stillborn.
Would a stillborn baby turn into a walker?
Yeah, yeah, yeah... I could Google "stillborn babies" but that's creepy, disturbing, and I don't want to do the dirty work due to laziness.
I think it does too, Christa stitched herself up after the baby died when it came out of her stomach

If we're on about Season 2, no the baby doesn't die, at the end of the game Clem and AJ get the chance to go to Wellington or stay with Kenny (which I did) the baby does not die as we know of.

I do, she didn't let it go to waste.
Even when so much time passed since 1st episode, people still wonder about Christa's baby... Really? Isn't that obvious that it died?
I think people want to know about how the baby died. Was it stillborn, died after birth, shot, abandoned, etc.?
For Clem have a response to A.J.'s disappearance like "not again" implies that the baby lives long enough for Clem to form a emotional attachment to it, maybe like a week. And the baby wasn't still born. Perhaps, it dies from mal-nourishment or Walker.
I just don't think a stillborn death would have a lasting effect on a character to remember for two years, except Christa.
Just a interesting thought....... Do you think Christa and Clem ate placenta? They seem pretty hungry. If I was starving, that would sound pretty appetizing.

There's a mod where you can eat it and you become immune to any radiation for the rest of the game
I didn't think it was a mod, i thought it was actually part of the game. If you have the cannibalism perk, you can eat the baby in the pit.
We're talking about Christa's baby, not Rebecca's.
