Secret Confederate Flag
I just started playing The Walking Dead from Season 1 again and I reached Episode 4. On the scene where you're trapped in the garage and escape through the glass-rooftop, you can see a confederate flag hanging from the wall. I don't think that this was in the old version of the game, since I don't remember seeing it, try it youselves if you don't belive that the screenshot's real.

The flag has always been there, this screenshot was taken from a video uploaded to youtube in 2012.
So, is there a specific reason for why it's there? I mean, it doesn't have to do anything with the game's timeline.
I'm guessing it's there because the mechanic who owned the garage was a redneck.

It's the south, confederate flags are everywhere.
I remember being at the Outer Banks earlier this summer and we counted more than 40 (we tried not to count multiple flags at one place) we even saw one of them adorned on a bikini.
If i was from the south, i would have a flag, because i am into History.
Even though that flag is responsible for "racism." It makes complete sense to blame a inanimate object, and say THIS IS THE REASON.
The flag isn't responsible for racism. It just represents a movement that's better left in the dustbin of history, IMO.

A flag is a symbol. And a symbol is symbolic to people in different ways, its not good, its not evil. Its just a symbol.
Not too surprisingly. They're not quite as popular in Florida, but one of my neighbors has his garage door painted in a confederate pattern.
You know what really pisses me off, is the destruction of our environment, when we have access to technology, that would make gasoline pointless. How long are we going to burn this shit seriously, don't the saudi's have enough money. They just come over here now, with all their ill gotten gain, and buy our country. Its a joke.

The flag is there probably because the mechanic was supposed to be a redneck. Also, Confederate flags are everywhere in the American south in real life, which is where the game is set. I have no problem with the flag being in the game because of that.
I also support the right of people to fly the flags on their property in real life, though I do think it at best makes them ignorant of the flag's history and at worst a knuckle-dragging racist. Most people who fly it probably fall into the former. They've bought into the Lost Cause myth that the Civil War wasn't about slavery and that the Confederacy wasn't founded solely to preserve it.
It has no place on government buildings.
The Swastika is a symbol too.
