I see where your getting at, but I fully believe that the issue with that isn't so much of playing as a child, but its as you put it playing as a superchild which is just as close to realism as the power-puff girls (even though we are talking about the dead up and walking anyhow, I always keep that in mind when bringing up realism to this type of fiction). If TTG had handled Clementine's interactions more realistically then it could of been possible that you would think differently about child main character ...or maybe not. Like many other problems with season 2 it just boiled down to mishandled characters and plot and not utilizing its full potential. Clem should had been kept in her place like that of a child I agree and it would had been something new to explore for a change instead of being the strong influential man that we were in season 1 through Lee.
I feel it should had been like polar opposites. And perhaps TTG tried to do it but failed. Like for example what Lee would had and could have been well capable of doing or saying Clementine would experience the opposite in season 2 and What Clem could get away with and spared for being a little girl, Lee would never had gotten away with as easily in season 1 or if he had still been alive in season 2
Maybe the child factor would play out eventually anyhow seeing as how they love to do vast time jumps so by the time season 3 is released there could be a teenage Clementine featured but I doubt there will ever be an adult age Clem in the game since that'd be talking about like at least a 5 to 6 year time skip.
I'm done with playing as a child. I have always hated that cliché about a superchild who is stronger and smarter than adults and it certainl… morey didn't make any good to The Walking Dead. I think that Clem's character worked better in the role which she had in season 1. In season 2 she just made the rest of group to look like complete idiots who couldn't decide if they would treat her as a child or as an adult. Lee's interactions with the season 1 group felt more natural than Clem's with season 2 group, which sometimes felt bit forced. For me Clem as a playable character would be acceptable only if there are multiple player characters like in 400 Days.
There are plenty of game series which change protagonists now and then and. If it's done properly, it really doesn't harm the franchise. In TWD's case it might help TTG to get rid of the narrative issues which the season 2 had.
I obviously don't how or if Michonne will be tied to season 3 somehow. I also don't know if Clementine will be playable in season 3, considering the endings for season 2, as it might be hard to follow up on without bringing everything back to what is more or less the same starting point, but there are a few things:
1) Even if Clementine isn't playable, I can't see season 2 not having Clementine or anyone from the first two seasons in it. And by that, I mean Clementine will be involved or, if she's not, other characters will be. But I'd bet my money on Clementine being involved, considering she's been always been one of the main characters. If there are no characters from season one or two, then what is the point of a season 3? Because the new season should continue the stories already started. If they don't, then I see no reason to call it season 3, and they'd probably call it something else like AMC did with Fear the Walking Dead, signalling that it's more or less a separate entity, albeit a spinoff in the same universe with crossover potential. Anyhow, unless it's an anthology, like American Horror Story, no new season of something starts without established characters to my knowledge. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. (As an aside, didn't some people say Telltale changed things for Mike in episode 5? Maybe indicating they have plans for him, but my memory could be wrong regarding that.)
2) To go along with what I said about it being hard to continue Clem's story because of season 2's possible endings, and this is possibly just wishful thinking on my part (as well as others, I imagine), but Telltale have said that Season 3 is looking to be considerably larger, no? So they might surprise us, depending on whether they mean it'll be larger in terms of branching or in terms of episode count. I don't know how they'd manage it in terms of branching though, so I'm thinking they're meaning episode count. It could also mean more than one playable character too, considering their experiements with Borderlands and GoT, which is definitely fine with me. I feel there's a lot more that can be done with multiple playable characters.
3) Regardless of what happens, Michonne's is only temporary, as they're telling the story of what happened when she got separated from the group. At some point, she needs to rejoin them, so I see no reason to fear that if the mini-series is successful, it'll mean we don't get a story continuation from season one and two. At most, there'll simply be characters or locations from Michonne in season 3. (As an aside, I don't know where the Michonne mini-series is taking place, in relation to season one and two of TWD.So locations might not be a possibility.)
Our choices from season 1 didn't matter in season 2 except for a few dialogue changes, so I doubt our choices in season 2 will have any kind of impact outside of. "I went with Jane. Or Bonnie drowned too."
Thx for the well thought out response. Great reasoning and I would be pleased to play a S3 based solely on the choices made in S1 and S2 with teen Clem as PC. TT are you listening? Time will tell.
Thx for reply, love the effort put in everyones stepping up so cool! I don't think I've said this here but here goes. The Clem alone ending in S2 pretty much means anything TT wants to do they can. I mean in terms of where she goes and who she'll meet. Will they do it by involing more characters from the comic? We did get Glenn in S1 don't forget. thx again!

For most part it's that I don't like superchildren. But I genuinely believe that you can have better narrative if you don't have a child protagonist and you can explore darker more adult themes. There would be an outrage if Clem would go through everything which Michonne has experienced in the comics. Season 2 already explored the theme of how (not so) vulnerable child can survive alone and with others during the zombie apocalypse. I don't think that we need another season of that, but instead I would like to see something new.
And I don't think that we are going to see big time skips, because the comics define the timeline and if there will be more time skips then the game series will soon catch up with the comics. Michonne mini-series is taking place during the big time skip of the comic book series and if it has ties to Season 3 then it sets also the date of the game series. Currently the zombie apocalypse has lasted almost four years in the comics and while it's possible that Season 3 could go that far ahead in time, I think that they will intentionally stay a bit behind the comics.
