How do you feel about Clementine?
I know a lot of people have said their love for her faded after season two and other's opinions didn't change at all. If your feelings for her changed, why? And what would telltale have to do in order to restore your connection to her? And if your view of Clem remained the same or strengthened, was it because TT developed her character well since season one? Etc, etc. Thoughts please. Your answers of course aren't limited to the questions I asked.

I cared al lot for her in S1 but in S2, I didn't as much as how I did in the first season as S2 was kinda shit written, it changed her personality and had a lot of adult treatment. I still like her though. I hope she doesn't die in some point of a season because this will be the only reason I would not play TWD game again.
I still love her, of course. S1 I loved her as my own child, S2 I still see her as my child, but grown and matured. S3 I'll probably see her as a full grown woman which I'll be very proud of (if they decide to make a time-skip). I didn't like how her joy and innocence faded from S1 to S2 of course, but it's understandable after all she's been through. I totally loved seeing her smile and laugh with Kenny in my ending, she still has her inner child within her, and that's something I truly loved.
I know I'm one of the few, but I don't care, not only did I enjoy Clementine even more after Season 2, I enjoyed playing as her more than I did Lee (I know, blasphemy). I liked the direction the writers took, yeah maybe she isn't the same happy little girl we had in Season 1, but what would you expect after being in a zombie apocalypse for 2 years, seeing numerous people killed right in front of you, being around a cold and antisocial Christa for 16 months, seeing your parents as walkers, leaving your father figure behind/shooting him in the face, and constantly blaming yourself for his death, needless to say that's going to eat away at you, and that's not even including the additional stuff she sees in Season 2. But yet, through it all, Clementine has survived and, despite her young age, has become more mature, responsible, and capable in a zombie infested world, she's smart for her age and knows what it takes to survive. In ways, I compare her a lot to Carl from the comics (not the Carl we have now, but mainly during the war with Negan arc and before that). I've enjoyed seeing her character grow throughout these two seasons and want to see more of her journey, so I hope they continue with Clementine in Season 3.
Also, as a side note, I know some people say that she is an "emotionless robot" in Season 2, but I just don't see it. Like I said, maybe she doesn't show as much emotion, but again, that's to be expected. There are plenty of times during the season we see her show emotion, we see her happy, sad, scared, angry, and much more all throughout the season, just because she's not as happy as she was in Season 1 doesn't make her emotionless.
Well I don't think we'll see her as a "full grown woman" due to the comics, but everything else, I agree with.
Yeah, I don't think so either, she should be 13 at maximum to not surpass the comic timeline, but we never know. Personally I'd like it if Season 3 starts a few days or weeks later after Season 2.
That would be great, but I think (and this is just my speculation) that it will at least be a time skip of a few months, but I don't see them doing another huge time skip, considering the complaints the last one got.
Yeah, a few months could be nice too. I'm not sure if they'll change Clem's model at all if there isn't a big time-jump. They'll probably change her clothes only, give Kenny an eyepatch, maybe Jane will have longer hair (but I'm inclined to think she cuts it herself for the same reason Clem does) and make AJ a little bigger.
I love Clementine same two seasons. The most beautiful is that it matures and is undergoing a transformation as a result of the zombie apocalypse. I admire her and appreciate her after everything she's been through! Such a small child, she lost her parents at age 8 and continued to fight and get stronger at the age of 11! It's amazing and it's what makes this game a little girl coping world so cruel.
Her personality is amazing. Anyone who does not love her transformation from season 1 and 2, do not understand how this natural and beautiful young girl watched so much evil and death will change that. No more innocence in this world, no childhood. Every child matures too quickly. Instead of playing, she kills zombies. I think it's serious, sad, beautiful, and more. I really appreciate this girl.
She's one of my favorite Walking Dead characters. Everyone says she was an emotionless robot in Season 2 and that's when I begin to question whether or not we even played the same game. True, she grew up and became more hardened, but isn't that sort of a given when your grow up in the apocalypse. That's not bad writing. That's called being realistic.
This is not true. She really did not like a robot, she was a very amazing and you can understand it.
Even if she has changed a lot from the little girl who hides in her tree house, I still care about her. Like other players, I consider her my child and no matter what, I will still care about her.
People who say that she didn't show a lot of positive emotions in Season 2, I don't think there was that many moments to be happy about. Season 2 was extremely dark, harsh and gritty. One can't help but feel dark apathy by all the horror, death and hopeless world.
I cared for her a lot through season 1. She was like my virtual daughter. When All That Remains was released I was more than excited to be playing as her. I still cared for her, and feared that she would die by No Going Back (the episode slides scared to crap out of me). But as the season progressed, she became...uninteresting to me. She had no character flaws, and it felt like I was babysitting the adults. She can kick down doors, survive being shot on the shoulder, and make it out of a lake while it's cold as hell. It just doesn't cut it for me. I still like her and all, but she lacked personality in my opinion. I don't think she should die, but I would rather play as someone else.
I really do not agree. I love her the way she ... she a masterpiece.
She's a "masterpiece" because she has no flaws. Which makes a character boring in my opinion.
You can do it with defects. You can do her a little bitch for example.
Still doesn't change the fact that the adults rely on her for everything.
You're right there. But it makes them stupid. 11-year-old girl sent on dangerous missions. Adults rely on it, even though she was a little girl. But Clementine was always perfect. Even when she was 8 in season 1. cute and brave. Besides, if in season 3 we will be Kenny or someone older to connect Clementine, has a chance to feel again that you raise a virtual child.
Exactly. That's why I prefer playing as in adult rather than a child.
But not just any adult ... have a relationship Clementine, but we love it, we want it to be season 3 ... For me, I do rule out the season 3, if Clementine is not there.
I like the idea of multiple protagonist. That CAN include Clementine as a playable character. I just don't want her as a FULL on playable character like this season.
Yes ... but I have no problem with her, she an amazing character and most love it.
I respect your opinion.
Thank you. Just thought you like she... as a character. Connect at her quickly.
Nailed it as usual man!
i love her so much she is so strong and cute and smart
I like her the best in season 1, but everyone grows up I guess.
Clementine is ok but I preferred someone who was a bit more older and more stronger like Lee. Hopefully in Season 3 we will play as Clementine and one or more characters.
She's still the best character in the series for me. I loved both sides of her character (season 1 and season 2 I mean).
Lord. I didn't know I had so many responses. These are so fascinating to read. Definitely much more fun than writing an essay. It's interesting to see everyone's different views, and I'm glad we're respecting our differences.
WARNING: LONG TEXT AHEAD
Clementine of Season 1 is arguably one of the best written child characters in video gaming, and I appreciated how the writers took special care to make her realistic and likable at the same time, which is not an easy thing to do when you are writing a child character in an escort mission, which both are notoriously controversial in many forms of gaming.
As a nine year old girl, she wasn't a character we just wanted to protect, we wanted to make her happy, be her friend, help her find her missing parents, while eventually learning to ensure that she knew the danger she would have to face ahead of time in the most tactful way possible, and help her learn how to defend herself. She was also reasonably resourceful and perspective for her age without making her mentally older than she actually was, and proved to be useful whenever we needed help with certain tasks while keeping us aware that at the end of the day, she's still a child and can't be expected to provide for the group in ever situation.
Personality wise it would be easy to just make her kind and sweet 24/7 as to not aggravate players, but she also shows some depths by showing that even Clementine has limits and will disobey Lee if she doesn't like her plans and is prone to forming her own opinions of other people and is not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to wanting to find her parents. She's a child and she will be angry and disobedient at times, but it's done in a way that makes us empathise with her plight rather than assume that she's a spoiled brat.
Now as for Season 2, I feel that the writers took several steps backwards in making her evolve from a nine year old girl with reasonable survival skills of her age and had her of childlike innocence wounded during her journey, into an eleven year old girl with a disproportionate skillset of a small adult, her resilience to physical damage exemplified per episode, her appeal from Season 1 gradually nuanced into a more generic and bland survivalist attitude...many things that made me like Clementine in Season 1 had slowly disintegrated the further I go into Season 2, until it reached the point where I couldn't care less about Clementine anymore.
It'd be easy for most to say that I didn't like S2 Clementine because she's nothing like S1 Clementine, but I would have to disagree on that. Episode 1 S2 Clementine was the same girl that I admired since playing Telltale Walking Dead, she still had the same traits she had in Season 1 but more reasonably nuanced due to her experiences in the past, and she still had the same vulnerabilities and occasional optimism that appeared every now and then. Episode 1 (and possibly Episode 2) Clementine was a good portrayal of developing a child who had lost her innocence due to seeing many of her loved ones die or disappear, and now had to cope with living in a zombie apocalypse either on her own or with a group of strangers that didn't trust her.
But as Episodes went on, her personality and character charm started to falter while more of her unnecessary strengths and skill started to take over to the point where I felt that the writers didn't understand how to write an eleven year old properly, so they instead turned her into a generic action survivalist to compensate, which unfortunately had undermined her character as a result. She was heavily depended on and could carry out many tasks on her own without much trouble, had the strength and resilience of a small adult and not of a pre-teen, and was an observer for many other characters without having any goals of her own or opinions that is not influenced by the players themselves that could easily contradict her own actions and thoughts back in Season 1.
I get that it's not easy to write a child protagonist as the player character, but personally, Season 2 is not a good example of how a child lead would behave and act in a zombie apocalypse. Season 2 Clementine feels more like a blank slate for the player to project into and make her do whatever the players wanted to do, and not what Clementine the character would want to do. It's a shame considering how I liked how Clementine was in Season 1, who had ended up devolving into a character that I failed to care for as episodes went on, to the point where I no longer cared for her.
TL,DR: I prefer S1 Clementine over S2, and I felt that Season 2 failed to convince me that it was a good portrayal of having a child protagonist being realistically and reasonably portrayed in a zombie apocalypse.

All i knows is that we best finish her fuckin story before we move on to the next dead man/gal.
Really think its realistic for a 11 yo anything to not change dramatically at all and to still want to play dolly and dress up and be the sweet 11yo whose parents were witnessed dead and walking i do not fuckin think so. Did tell tale do the gratest job.... Hell no but to think she'd stay the same lil girl we met in the tree hell no. Rambling over and out.
i am not agree with you. she is cute all time!
What my bio says
Umm what?
CLEM makes me feel the presence of LEE, What ever she do Is Always Okay by Me.
S1 Clem.
You can literally replace Becca with S2 Clem and little would change.
An amazing character that feels satisfying to both guide and play as. Clementine is such a well developed character who actually feels like she's growing up as you play through these games. My attachment to her had only strengthened after S2.
