Would Clem Ever Call Lee Her Dad?

enter image description hereAssuming that Lee lived long enough in series, Like surviving the two year timeskip together.

These are a couple reasons that I think it would of happen:

  1. Lee already is a great influence on Clem, Copying thign that he does.(example: "Like shit, Lee?") mimicking behavior of a parent is common with children.

  2. Clem is already unrealistically safe in his presence. During the Car ride to Hershel's farm and Rv, Clem sleeps/leans on Lee's shoulders. For only knowing the guy for like 3 months, they form a family like bond.

  3. And last, the flash backs.on Season 2 Episode 5. Clem is in a dire moment in which she could be dying, when that Arvo coward shoots her in the chest. She in a condition and situation that she more likely feels betrayed and scared. Out of all of the memories that could of bought her security, like maybe her 8th birthday with her parents telling Clem to make a wish, or maybe Christmas with her family. But instead of a flashback that of her real parents giving her security and insuring that everything is going to be ok, it was Lee, a man that she only knows for 5 months, who brings her security, not her parents. He gives her guidance in her greatest time of need. And that is why i'm certain that Clem would think of him as a father at some point. Because if a person can enstill that feeling of safety and insurance, he should be the father

Plus, something similar happens in the comics. After spending two years with Andrea, Carl refers to her as Mom, And he's a badass. Why can't Clem have the same feelings for Lee

    sure, why not. < /thread >

  • ...I think it's kind of sad and a little bit ridiculous how little Telltale focuses on Clem's parents, at least in season 2. Yes, Lee took care of Clem for a good while there, but her mom and her dad were her parents! For her entire life, pre-ZA! The baseball cap she got from her dad. That heart-breaking answering machine message from her mom. The little scene of her talking to her parents on the phone in the season 2 episode 5 teaser trailer. C'mon man; they deserve love too. It's not like her parents did anything to not keep Clem's love. Lee's fantastic, but frankly I'd feel terrible for Clem's father if she started calling Lee "Dad." (Maybe after a number of more years she could, but not after just one or two years. The title just doesn't seem right.) Don't forget she ran away from Lee in season 1 to go find her parents too. Don't forget she wanted to find them that entire season, and was crushed when she saw them as walkers. Idk, I just think it's unfair to her parents.

  • No, I don't think so.

  • it doesn't really make sense on their end to not empathize her parents in her development

  • I think that clem remembers Lee rather more than her parents because of what clem and lee have been through. He taught her how to defend herself,he defended her more than Anything,I can tell that with time he saw clem as a daughter and clem saw him as a father figure.

  • Probably because the parents couldn't be as sympathized by players as much as Lee.

  • I almost thought she would but she didn't witch surprised me. Although if she did I'm sure telltale would be blowing up with comments on there site about.

  • To be fair, she only knew him for 3 months. She knew her real father for 8 years.

Remember what the Joker said in TDK: "When men are about to die they show their true selves, so in a way I knew your friends better than you ever did." She might've known Ed longer, but her and Lee being in constant danger showed their true selves and opened them up to each other. So their bond, while shorter is stronger.

To be fair, she only knew him for 3 months. She knew her real father for 8 years.

  • Strong? Of course. But stronger?

I'm not sure if I can agree with that. Clementine seemed like she had a close bond with her dad, what with her sentimental hat and all, but she also had the default bond of being his daughter. That +8 years, is a pretty strong bond right there.

I definitely will say that their bond is strong and almost up to par with her fathers', considering that Lee was also a parental figure to Clementine.

  • At least when Carver asks her what he dad's name is she says 'Ed'.

If I remember correctly that particular dialogue is completely determinant, and so you may have never seen it. Not to mention it's such a small moment some people may not even remember it, as wrestlingdead12 points out above.

But it is there, so yeah, that's nice.
